The Red Dew Sect was alive with the vibrant colors and sounds of the summer festival. Lanterns adorned every corner, casting a warm glow over the bustling crowd of disciples and elders. Stalls lined the pathways, offering an array of goods and delicacies, while performances and competitions drew excited spectators. Amidst the festivities, Luotuo's mind was preoccupied with a different quest.
For the past month, Luotuo had been investigating the mysterious disappearance of the Beast Taming Elder. His search had led him to the Beast taming fields, where he hoped to find answers. He had asked around discreetly, speaking with various disciples and a few elders. Eventually, he was told that the elder had indeed perished alongside her loyal beast companions. The news was disappointing but not entirely unexpected.
Still, Luotuo couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to the story. Surely an elder would have more then one companion? if so had the rest of her companions survived, what had happened to the others? He made a mental note to continue his search, determined to uncover the full truth.
For now, he decided to focus on another goal: taming the ice fox he had captured during the beast tide. The creature had remained wild and untrusting, despite Luotuo's best efforts. But today, amidst the joy and energy of the festival, he felt a renewed determination to bond with the fox.
He made his way through the throng of celebrating disciples, eventually reaching the secluded area where he had set up a small space for the ice fox. The creature was in a sturdy cage, her eyes sharp and watchful. Luotuo knelt down, his movements slow and deliberate to avoid startling the fox.
"Hey there, little one," he said softly. "I know we haven't exactly been friends, but I'm hoping we can change that."
He held out a piece of grilled fish, a delicacy he had picked up from one of the festival stalls. The fox eyed it suspiciously, her nose twitching at the scent. Luotuo kept his hand steady, waiting patiently. After a few tense moments, the fox cautiously stepped forward and sniffed the fish. she took a tentative bite, then another, until she was eating from Luotuo's hand.
"There you go," Luotuo murmured, a small smile playing on his lips. "See? I'm not so bad."
As the fox finished the fish, Luotuo slowly extended his other hand towards it. The fox tensed but didn't retreat. Gently, Luotuo brushed his fingers through its fur, marveling at the silky softness. The fox allowed the touch, her eyes still wary but less hostile.
Over the next few hours, Luotuo continued to spend time with the fox, feeding it small treats and speaking to it in soothing tones. He knew that taming a wild beast wasn't something that happened overnight, but today's progress was a promising start.
As the sun began to set and the lanterns' glow grew brighter, Luotuo felt a sense of accomplishment. He had taken the first step towards forming a bond with the ice fox. The festival's joyful atmosphere seemed to have worked in his favor, helping to bridge the gap between them.
Sitting beside the fox's cage, Luotuo looked out at the festival, the laughter and music filling the air. He thought of the Beast Taming Elder and her companions, of the mysteries still left to unravel. He would continue his search, but he realized that building his own bonds with the beasts was just as important.
Still he felt in his heart that he was defiently right.
The snacks would be his ! ., even if he had to track down the elder's beasts himself.
