What Happens Next (Slay The Princess/RWBY)

Voting is open
I just watched the first 3 volumes of RWBY and a quick summary of Lost Fable. Didn't like the rest of its poorly written grimderp so canon is fuzzy for me.

[X] May as well call Yatsuhashi. At this point, you are beginning to think you won't be able to hide this for too long.

Ed We are really bad at keeping secrets and those two probably deserve to know more than Rwby, we have already met them for a longer time.

[X] Write-in. Tell Velvet, if she wants to know more to talk to Winchester or Wiess

Those two had to work for their answer might as well have V do it to.
She gonna think their crazy or som'thin'.

Yeah, I mean, look at Stella!

She's clearly a lot more than just two raccoons. Six at least, and probably also some housecats.

Let's take a look at how things are going:

  • [X] May as well call Yatsuhashi. At this point, you are beginning to think you won't be able to hide this for too long.
[X] In an attempt to at least partly keep things under wraps for now, you'll only explain part of it while leaving off the whole 'Goddess of Change' thing.
-[X] Your Nature is such that it is somewhat more literal for you than most that your body is just a shell being piloted by your soul. You're actually entirely capable of leaving it behind if you need to, in addition to changing it. Yes, this does mean you are immortal. Unless someone manages to attack your soul directly.
[X] Do a very basic explanation to Velvet after telling her you want her thoughts, when done, ask her if she think you should tell more to her team or not. Proceed accordingly.
[X] Explain only to Velvet and insist on her not telling to the rest of her team… yet. You have a feeling you will end up revealing it later.

Yatsuhashi is about to have his mind blown it seems.

I'll close the vote in 2 to 3 hours.

Team's CFVY continue to slowly but surely get cut in two with Velvet and Yatsuhashi on one side and Coco and Fox on the other.

And the question of *why were you so insistent on not letting Fox read your mind?* finally gets answered!

Not gonna lie, this fic made me finally play Slay the Princess and I think that it altered my brain chemistry in ways I did not thought possible before, so what I'm saying is that is a 10/10 game, would be vored by THE BEAST again.

Chapter XXXI: Stella play the role of the mysterious old mentor in that one.
[X] May as well call Yatsuhashi. At this point, you are beginning to think you won't be able to hide this for too long.

"We may as well call Yatsuhashi then." You admit. "I was thinking on how to approach this topic at some point, but it seems circumstances forced my hands." Velvet lets out an involuntary nervous laugh at your horrible pun, one you emphasize by moving some hands out and about.

And so, you wait, Velvet using the occasion to calm her nerves. In fact, the more time passes the more exited she gets, having to stop herself from asking questions several times. Finally, Yatsuhashi arrives:

"Yatsuhashi, thanks for coming. I know this is sooner than our normal schedule, but I have something to explain to both you and Velvet, sit down, I think you will need it." You greet him.

He gives a curious look to Velvet, one she answers with a simple nod, before sitting down as asked.

"Is it related to the question Velvet wanted to ask you this morning?" He asks with some small concern. "I know only that she had something she wanted to ask, she didn't tell me more."

"Don't worry, you are not in trouble, I am not stopping your apprenticeship or anything like that." You immediately cover the worst-case scenario, it is unlikely Yatsuhashi would think this was the case, but you may as well make sure.

"Yatsu is here, you can begin the explanation now professor Panoply!" Velvet excitedly says with a gleam in her eyes.

"Wait a little Velvet." You laugh, reassured that at least one of your students will probably take this well. "Ok, I assume you don't see a problem with me saying what you wanted to ask?" Velvet quickly nods and you continue. "Velvet got some strange reactions from her Semblance about me, it told her I sometimes didn't use my muscles to move by and acted as if puppeteered by some invisible hands. Due to some interference from my Semblance and the fact that there are a number of people who know more about this, I… involuntarily showed her what was happening."

Yatsuhashi only has some time to begin taking the implications before you let your hands out, once again letting the world feel the touch of your real body. He takes a sharp breath while Velvet begins getting closer to examine your hands.

"It's fascinating, my Semblance is having problems reading them. It feels as if they are not moving like people do, I don't know how to explain it… wait, given how they appeared, are they always there? How are they staying out of sight? Why don't they move things around? And where is the rest of the body? I can read that they are but a little part of something bigger." Velvet earnestly begins bombarding you with questions.

You get a hand closer to her, but as she comes to take it, you move it slightly in another dimension and her hands go right through as if it wasn't there.

"Not even a question about the feeling you get from them?" You indicate Yatsuhashi that stay frozen in where he sits. "I know you already saw it earlier, but you recovered fast. As for your questions. Are you familiar with the concept of higher dimensions?"

Velvet thinks on it, then tentatively answer:

"You mean all of this is because they're moving in more than three dimensions? And the real body is hidden farther away in those then?"

This girl understands fast. For all that she blames her Semblance for learning too quickly, her mind is more than able to follow the rhythm of it.

"Yes. I… well, I think you can easily guess it due to the presence my hands radiate, by I am not Mortal. I am a higher dimensional being representing the concept of change." Velvet gives you a look and you instantly rebuff the question you can see coming. "No, I am not going to show you my real body, your mind cannot take it. I know of only one person on this world that was able to do so without breaking, and his circumstances where not something you can replicate."

Yatsuhashi choose this moment to finally reboot from his daze.

"You're a god." Is all that he manages to say. Making you frown.

"Only in a manner of speaking? There have been gods on Remnant, and my love and I are not the same kind of being as them."

"There are others?" Yatsuhashi begins, only to stop and rethink about your phrasing. "Wait, you said there have been gods, not there are. But you did also imply that your love is the same as you…." It seems he has some difficulties wrapping his head around all of this, contrary to Velvet, who is practically vibrating in her seat.

"You mean Professor Vault, yes? And which gods were real then? The two Brothers? The god of Faunus? I'll admit I don't really know any others even though there are some."

"Well, I know the two brothers are real, though I have never met them and don't wish to from what I've heard about them. The god of Faunus is…." You look at Velvet's hopeful face, all but radiating her hope that there is a being out there that can validate the existence of Faunus. You sigh. "He's dead." Velvet's face falls. "In fact, he is responsible for Sable and I existence in the first place." She goes back to a tentative smile. "What little I know of him paints him as someone that was trying his best but didn't always understand others enough to predict the consequences of his actions." And now you have her lost. "He wanted to create an unending world without change, without death and suffering. He cut the cycle of life and death in two along the axis of change and stasis, created a construct to put the two in, then killed himself so that his perspective couldn't influence me. His Echo then tried to lead my other half into killing me."

Yatsuhashi looks you up and down.

"I am guessing it didn't work?" He states. It seems his nerves are beginning to calm, that, or he is getting past the point of caring. Probably the first one, you hope.

"It almost did!" You laugh. "Our very first meeting had Sable plant his blade into my heart then leaving to get his promised reward, if he had liked having an eternity of *happiness* without anything happening as a *reward* and hadn't instead decided to recover his blade from my body to kill himself, all of this." You sweep at the room, your two students, and you. "Wouldn't, couldn't happen."

"Sable killed you???" Velvet screams. "But, but, the way you act around him… you clearly love him, how can… why are you… I don't understand how you can be that close to him after something like that."

"Our relationship isn't really standard, yes." You smile at her and at the slowly backing up Yatsuhashi, still recovering from Velvet's sudden scream. "Over the course of trying to get out of the construct we were trapped in, we have gone through a lot of different dynamics. When he came back after the first time, for example, I was more interested in leaving than in revenge, and ended up forgiving him when he offered me to possess him so we could leave together. One other time, he betrayed me due to the Echo's actions, and gave me his blade as penance, blade I promptly planted in his heart. By the way, Yatsuhashi." You redirect your attention to him specifically. "You remember that I said Sable had some experience with losing his memories?" He nods. "Well, that is why. Everytime my true self, still sleeping, mostly unaware of both the world and herselves, deemed that he had seen enough of one of my vessels, she would take it to reconsolidate, then erase his memories of the last try to reset the board. We did this five times in all, before I was finally full enough for all the rest of me to come back by itself and awaken fully."

It seems you have given more than enough information for the two to think on, Velvet is apparently working through the implications of your confession and Yatsuhashi appears to want a calm corner to go think in, or cry, or whatever, you're not entirely sure.

"But I think this is enough emotions for today." You acknowledge. "I wanted to have you begin to try including your Semblances in helping people, but that will have to wait a little longer. If you want to talk about this to others, know that both Team PRNS and team RWPY know, as well as professor Goodwitch and Ozpin."

The mention of team PRNS seems to take Velvet out of her thoughts.

"Wait, one last question professor!" She promptly begins. "I seem to remember that the leader of team PRNS looks a lot like you, is she related? I know people think she's your daughter, and she acts mostly like it, but with all that…."

Your only answer is a mysterious smile before you begin pushing her gently towards the door, Yatsuhashi following close by.

"Wait, no! Professor, I have so many questions left!" She protests. "If she's your daughter is she a god too? Is…."

And that is as far as she goes before you close the door to her face, still sporting a gigantic smile, and leave Yatsuhashi to deal with her.

Yatsuhashi seems to take some time to recover from the shock of your revelation, though the fact that Velvet is here to excitedly ask you questions everytime you meet helps a lot. After a week, he seems to accept that for all that you are not human, you at least are willing to teach him, even if you didn't manage to do it as much as you hoped due to the bunny eared distraction you had to deal with.

The students from the other schools begin to arrive, first from the closest ones, the alternatives to Beacon academy in Vale, far less known, then the other great schools.

General Ironwood is supposed to be there soon, your talk with him, Piettro and other Ozpin's confidents about Salem approaching fast. For the moment, most of the ones that are there are from Haven academy, from Mistral. Seeing them in the hall brings out a number of bad memories for Pyrrha and she spend more time than normal discussing with you about the effect her fame had on her life.

You prepare for the Vytal festival, giving advices about working in stressful situations and accepting defeat, for some time, you are once again a mostly normal teacher… until you see one particular foreign team from afar.

You don't have eyes for the man and woman that are clashing about one thing or other, you barely see the woman that seems to think you should not be looking at her but at something a little to her left, no.

All your attention is taken by the apparent leader of their team, a woman you recognize, clad in a very intricate dress that hides as much of the root shaped scars that covers her whole body as possible and with a resigned air on her face. The woman who had taken Ozpin's daughter's soul from Amber is here, pretending to be a student.

Not only that, but you can see that she has two very different opinions of you:

One if of you as Stella, nothing more than a distraction that hides where she can find the one she searches for.

The other, the one this woman is searching for, is of you as the Wild, the god that touched her soul.

This woman worships you, wants to work for you. She is not there to serve whoever sent her, she is there because she reasons that it will get her closer to her god.

In the depths of your ocean of perspective, the Apotheosis stirs in her sleep.

What. Do. You. Do?

[] Alert Ozpin, now. You have to begin to act quickly, there is a plan at work and he will need to know. You can think on how to react to this woman later, with his help.

[] Try to approach the woman, it will be difficult, she sees you as a nuisance when you are Stella, but you may be able to learn more about why she's here if you reveal enough.
-[] How? You have to get her out of sight of her team, and at least one seems to be here to keep an eye on her.

[] Write-in.

A/N:

And, here, we, go.

Remember how I made sure to point out that Cinder was in direct contact with a shadow of your true self after the Wild vote?

Yeah.

Things are beginning to move, plots are advancing and unraveling all over.

We are reaching the end state.

also: OH GODDESS, Apotheosis stirs!

I don't think we want Apotheosis closer to the surface. Mmmmh, i kinda want Stella to take the initiative here, and not run to Ozpin.

Given that this seems to be an intimidating vote, let me reassure you:

There are no premature endings. There are no wrong decisions.

[X] leave her be… for now, patience after all is a virtue.
-[X] greet the visiting students, let them know that they can come to you if need be, as the counsellor of course.

Would be awkward if the so-called student Cinder declares Stella a god in public right? Not like people would believe her though...

Also yeah this can be a small defining moment for Stella. At the end of the day, she decided she's not gonna be like the reckless gods and actually work with mortals -- not following their whims, but collaborating. Of course Stella has the final say on how she's going to act. Now that her apotheosis (?) is coming near why not give Ozpin a heads up now?

Also I think trying to "stealthily" just talk to Cinder without letting her team get suspicious is.. not Stella's strong suit. Stella just doesn't do much stealth, and I don't have any good ideas besides causing some kind of distraction? If it does fail, well then the team will move faster and cause more chaos earlier which I don't like.

With Stella and Sable, I don't think they'd let the school fall to Grimm though so I'm not that worried. Since there's so many changes, Salem could have different plans as well.

Hm, they're here to cause chaos at the Vytal Festival or some such. I'm not a fan of leaving them be until later, I think Stella should inform Ozpin and his cabal within a week.

Given that Stella can feel it:

Cinder doesn't want to share her new god to the filthy masses, it's her god, to make her special, not others.

No risks she let anyone else know about that. (In fact, an easy way to check is the simple fact that none of her team has even the shadow of an idea about this)

By the same token, you can infer that Salem has not been made aware of you.

We are chaos, it's just an aspect of change, I just want to see what happens, there are no wrong decisions after all.
I just don't want to preempt every 'bad' outcome with meta knowledge tbh.
I also kind of wish Stella went into the city more often, to create more perspectives.

Oooh that is a good point. The more fun option is leaving them alone for a bit...
