The pacing is kind of difficult, assuming that we keep the same general kind of location and purpose of our field studies. Field study 1 is gonna be about introducing us to the main plot and the instructor's old fling that neither of them are quite over(Sara, Claire, and Sharon had some kind of tension that you dont get without some kind of yuri going on) and then FE 2 would presumably take us to Manuel's place and settle his and Jacinto's assumable yaoi, which leaves FE 3 that would, assumedly, be going to where we live. if we wanted to settle this trail fashion toxically focusing on being better than Nemona would be our plotline that gets resolved during an FE but idk if we'll have the time during the yaoi study, unless of course, we're not with Elise in handling the yaoi boys. and FE 3 feels more. fitting to wrap up that plotline for us cause you know that's our homeland but that's a while away. Gaius didn't really have an issue to resolve in 1 when we went to the highlands but it was there to just convince you that he was swag, which he was.

I think we should at least keep the toxic up till FE 2, maybe 3 if we want to really commit to the emotional payoff. We have to give Elise an issue that she can help fix with us so that way we can get a horse in the Elisebowl, though her oblivious flirting probably wouldn't work on us because we're both oblivious protagonists that are about as dense as a brick wall.

Anyway, I haven't quite dcided yet on where we should go, Im leaning towards East simply because theruinsseem fun and embracing the more mystical side feels like it fits our like overarching school goal of sealing. also, ruin pokemon just seems cool. But I do kind of want to see the political tensions in the west. For Pokemon choice I'll have to see what plots are associated with whatever potential catches we get here but I really dont think we have the AP to spare during the FE to re-roll so its whatever we get on that first table.

I did do some rough estimation and FE3 was where I predicted we'd be left in the dust so long as we continue as we are. When Nemona starts getting 3 or even more badges ahead of us.

So that could work, I'm glad we can all come together and plan out Mariana's mental spiralling so well in advance!

You know what, if FE3 really is horsebowl same as in ToCS, that's actually a great place for us to hit a breaking point. We can keep power gaming badges till then.

Then again, we have no guarantee that's the case...but it's worth the thought.

As someone who's been in Mariana's position of trying to catch up to a constantly distancing goal, I personally see absolutely no reason to further mentally abuse Mariana for no reason other than the sake of abusing her, and am honestly rather disgusted that people are seriously considering it at all.

Mariana is a character in a story, not a person. Sometimes seeing a character go through something can make good story even if you would not inflict that fate on a person.
Lets not pretend that Mariana is an actual person who could experience actual suffering for the sake of an imaginary moral high ground about being nice to the figments of our imagination.
And lets especially not personally attack people about that imaginary moral high ground just because you disagree with them about what imaginary actions from these imaginary people would be the most entertaining.

What I want Mariana to do is typically split between two routes.

Becoming the best Mariana she can be, or what would be most interesting on a narrative level.

Purposefully diving into a toxic kismesis rivalry for a bit? That's all narrative, with the side benefit of giving us a nice foundation of strength. I predict that we'll slow down on pokemon training actions at least a little bit at the latest halfway through the year. Not stopping, because that'd be dumb, but slowing down. That also has the benefit of giving us more room to spend AP on actions like exploring Mezagoza or something nice like pokemon care.

As a parent of adolescents I'm just down for the fact that adolescents are inevitably gonna do stupid shit, so it might as well be stupid shit they can learn about themselves from.

Hmm... I think I'd be fine with Mary pushing herself for a bit. Not long term mind you. There's no way in hell we're ever catching up to Nemona. But, like maybe trying to keep up that insane pace for, like one or two badges? You know, just enough to get some progress on getting ready for that quest Old Man Jenkins gave her?

And getting shit from Old Man Jenkins for ignoring his advice about pacing ourselves, of course.

Honestly, even after reading everyone's reasoning, I'm still kinda undecided on where I'd rather go.

Though the talk about flying types has made me suddenly want us to get a Flamigo. Not even sure why, just kinda think it'd be neat

Honestly a Flamigo is the most in-character possible option based on our choices thus far, in that it looks ridiculous but is actually secretly terrifying. Maybe not in a competitive sense but Flying/Fighting is actually kind of an amazing STAB spread.

I know right? Also we'd probably be able to fly on it pretty quickly, though how quickly would most likely depend on how young/strong it currently is, and require bond levels.

Nice discussion about if we should torment Mary for an interesting plot, good points were made! Unfortunately my favourite types are Ghost, Poison, and Dark, which means I obviously have a bias towards Trauma being handled well to be a good story. Tormenting of Mary will continue until Morale Improves.

Do I even need to bother voting for East Cortondo? It's ahead by 15.

Mariana: Hey Jenkins, I just got my second badge, and I've scheduled a date for my third badge challenge for the week of the Field Exercise at the end of this month already, I'm gonna do the village proud!
Jenkins: .....
Jenkins: ...
Jenkins: [the world's most long-suffering sigh]
Jenkins: That's great Mariana, I see you've been taking my words to heart. Oh, also, I'm sending Kali down to Mesagoza, take some time to show her around, see the local sights and all that, alright?

If we've got some knowledge of pokemon habitats, do we know if Eevee live in the fields around Cortondo, or are they more/less widespread than that?

Pretty much all the Eeveelutions are cool and would be good comforting additions to Mariana's team.

Also, neat that Renne feels comfy enough to hang out and binge-watch TV with us, now to convince them to perform violence on our behalf.
Native to Kalos, proximity has resulted in Eevee populations making their way over to Galar and Paldea over the centuries. Wild unevolved Eevees are extremely rare. A trainer is more likely to encounter an evolved member of the Eevee line rather than the unevolved form. Most Eevees that are owned or trained by Humans are from Breeders or from Eggs given by Trainers who already have an Eeeveelution in their team.

Gold Montaro's Glaceon was sired from one of Bill's Eeveelutions.

To a large extent anything we pick now is going to smash that button, because smashing it got locked in when the thread voted for Nemona to be our rival.
I'm just of the opinion that Mariana giving up at the beginning will genuinely be harder on her than trying and failing to keep up, and frankly it'd be weird for her to do the first without a good reason, especially since it's already been voted on.

[X] East Cortondo Province

Yeah if we didn't want Mary to have this complex, we should have voted for Ostia or Erika rather than Nemona. At this point the only way out is through.

Yeah but like... the options were
1. Girl who's crushing on us (I don't want to hurt her)
2. Nonbinary child in a bad household situation (I don't want to hurt them)
3. Instant Loss (Nemona Button)

So in the TRUEST MARIANA FASHION EVER, out of refusal to hurt people, I chose to hurt ourselves.
