Frankly, I would have prefered choosing Family and Tall Grass one, but I don't think we can afford to miss
Gain Trait Fundamentally Fundamentals: +10% KNOW XP for the first month (3 Turns) in Mesagoza
this, since it would save us so much time to further increase the bonus and decrease the amount of time we would need to spend on catching up academically.

Also Psychic and Dark, huh. We probably need to get a reliable adult to do it for us since the requirements are pretty steep.

Also also, you did a great job in making Zubat a tempting choice. I didn't expect Machop to be a distant 3rd for me regarding the pokemon choices when I saw the roll, but the Zubat/Dreepy choices was just too interesting for me personally.

Looking at our trainer card - we seem to have 500 PROW XP from nowhere, and not the 500 SKLL XP we got from winning the tutorial battle?

Also, Mariana's hair is insufficiently Red - We're not a pink-haired girl, we're a red-headed barbarian!

Hey we get our hands on a Spiritomb and it's basically perfect for sealing!
...There would also be some form of irony of the Sealed Stone of 108 Souls, fixing Seals. "If we have to stay in here so do you!"

Why not picking I'm not Book Smart, I'm Poke Smart? We need the known stat desesperally.

Astonish, Infestation, Quick Attack, Bite, Double Team, Shadow Sneak each getting 5 MXP would push us incredibly far for training efficiency. Getting us at least a base understanding for even complex moves, which shadow sneak is pretty likely.

Plus we still get to bond with our Pokemon, gain quite a bit of poke and skill xp and potentially get some berries and items now instead of potentially spending an action later

I'm going to be honest the bennies for taking Machop or Zubat are great. I'm just voting for Dreepy's face.

And also making sure to get the KNOW option in because we really need that.

Ok, for the Dreepyheads out there, could I convince you to at least go "Your Partner" instead of "Family means no one gets left behind"?
The whole... "Dreepy beats up your family" isn't really great, and is probably setting a bad precedence for the Dragon type. Something something, beating us and our family up to establish dominance or something.

Plus, "Your Partner" does have the benefit of MXP and PROW while still getting us Bond 1.

Honestly if I cared about the mechanics on the non-know choice I'd vote for money. I'm voting for a plan with family because I think they deserve to know who they're adopting.

Investing in training/academics does have future dividends, but with Mariana's motivation from Gramps and our family it makes sense she'd prioritise getting out there to help. and building warm memories of Home to keep us going at the Academy. We also have a (slight) chance to pick up a second pokemon from our home, which will be valuable for both emotional and battling reasons when we get to the Academy, with more limited options for finding more team members.

A 10% boost to KNOW for 3 turns isn't that useful - assuming we did 1 study action a turn in those turns and that the Academy gives better stat gains than at home (say 500 XP per action, 1000 with our boost) we'd still only get 300 extra XP for studying now vs later, and give up several unique opportunities to do so.

The beating up the family is more comedic. Right now Dreepy hits as hard a kid. I will roll a d100 on whether he beats Timothee or Tamara
If he does win it will make them more of a brat.

Honestly I'm tempted by the Machop, but my own logic still holds, we can find a Machop or a Zubat once we go looking. It'll be much harder to find a Dreepy.

As for the plan. Getting that KNOW as quickly as possible is important, especially since we have to check on those Stakes that require KNOW to work, if we want to do it ourselves. I also want Dreepy to meet the family, get some XP, and get that Bond up faster than the other options.

Stat Checks: You must be this Charismatic to ride
Since your stats have been finalized and we're post CharGen and entering the last stretch of the Prologue. I'm gonna give an example of how a stat check will work

Scenario 1: You're talking to someone about a topic and they say something that feels…off.

DC Difficulty: 15
KNOW Check: 1d20 + 6
CHRM Check: 1d20 + 12
Roll >=15 to pass

Whichever stat passes its DC will resolve the scenario. If both pass their roll, I choose the more interesting one. If neither pass depending on the scenario I'll still have you accomplish the objective but it will cost you in some way now or later. Or I will simply have that opportunity be missed.

I will sometimes roll for things in the background and not show if there even was a roll.

DCs can be increased or decreased outside of the impact of your stats depending on the scenario

Someone is talking about the Highlands? Great!
Someone is talking about Kanto? Uhhh…

Also, looks like for this quest the role of Ishmelga will be portrayed by the Ruin Quartet, or something similar. Makes sense, and I'm already seeing the potential connections of "an ancient king" and this Rodrigo fellow who's standing in for Dreichels.

I really like Crobat, but I'd be fine with Dreepy too.

KNOW Check: Stat 6 = DC 70
CHRM Check: Stat 12 = DC 40

Roll a 1d100+6 and a 1d100+12. Whichever stat passes its DC will resolve the scenario. If both pass their roll, I choose the more interesting one. Will there ever be situations where multiple stats are rolled and the degree of success depends on how many pass?

Like in the above example, passing either one gets them to fess up a bit, but passing both gets them to fess up in full.
