Chapter V: Where in the woods is that path anyway?
Or I can finish the same day, that works too....
When searching for a mission to do, you stumble upon an urgent notification. A teenager has been declared missing by his parents, and the policemen are asking for Huntsmen due to the last place he was seen at being the forest of Forever Fall.
Your curiosity piqued, you decide to take it, Sable agreeing at the notion of helping a child. You quickly make your way to the rendez-vous point, as time is an important resource for this search. Once there, you see a number of generic policemen that redirect you to a couple huddled in the corner, hugging each other.
You do not really register their appearance at first, they are but mortals, unimportant, only a way to get information for your mission. Then you realize this is partially an impression coming both from them and the officers around, the police dismissing the couple, and the couple expecting you to do the same.
You decide not to do that. You put on your best smile and let Sable take point when you register the man is a faunus and seems more reassured by him than by you. Instantly, you feel a shift in their gaze, just as you are not a faceless oppressor in their mind, they are not faceless victims in yours.
The woman is shorter than you, you can see that she normally takes care of her appearance given her clothes are a pristine white long-sleeve top with a black skirt, clearly taken care for but recently rumpled. She has no obvious faunus trait, and her skin is pale. Her green eyes show she obviously has spent quite a lot of time crying recently.
The man is even more harried than his wife, he's wearing what seems to be a red waiter uniform and is looking around with suspicion. Given how he reacts to seeing Sable's wings by relaxing slightly, you would guess this is related to the very visible pair of antlers you see on his head amongst his short black hairs. The fact you saw at least one of the policemen look at him with a slight sneer also give credence to that impression.
"Hello. Are you two Miss and Mister Doe?" Sable says with a reassuring smile when you get close enough. He has seen how you put yourself behind him and correctly deduced he should be your liaison here. "We are Huntsmen here to search for your boy. I am Sable Vault and this elegant miss with me is my partner, Stella Panoply. Don't mind the fact she looks like a Princess, I can assure you she is more down to earth than she seems."
You offer him an unimpressed gaze, but internally admit his little speech seems to have worked. The both of them relax slightly more, the impression you get from them telling you that they see you as more tolerant now. Willing to listen to them and not dismiss their claims.
"Y-yes, we are the parents that asked for a search. Thank you for coming, we feared nobody would." The woman answers, her tone hesitant but slightly hopeful.
"Very well, can you explain the situation a little then? I am afraid the officers didn't tell us much besides indicating where you were." You say, making sure not to act too forcefully.
"Of course they wouldn't, a child is missing but just because he's a faunus and the suspects are rich kids they don't…." The man begins, getting more and more heated the longer he speaks.
His wife interrupts him with an elbow to the ribs and a whispered: "Not now dear, they are not one of them, the man is a faunus too." Followed by a more audible. "Excuse my husband, he is stressed by the situation. I am sure you can understand."
"No offense taken, you are afraid of what could happen to your child, this is normal." You say. "Now, in the interest of helping said child, could you continue on what happened to him?"
"Yes, yes, sorry for the outburst." The husband answers in a calmer voice, clearly struggling to stay so. "What happened was that our dear little Tom was with some friends for the first day of the weekend, or at least he was supposed to. We actually learned from their parents that he never came to their house or had any visit scheduled. We got a message from the police telling us about some kids having been found in Forever Fall, having somehow gotten past patrols, and them having Tom school's papers on them." At that, he stops a little, taking a deep breath to center himself. "We called the parents of his friends and learned what I just told you, and came here as fast as possible after. The officers told us that they had interrogated the kids, and they had told they were there to *test the little Doe*. The police refused to go themselves and we had to ask for a huntsman team to come. That is about all we know, for more you'll have to pry it out of the ones who did the interrogation. Your status should allow you to get more information, I hope." He finishes, and you can feel that even if he wants to hope, there is still a part of him that fear you will not be able to find his child.
"Do not fear, my Princess and I are going to do our outmost to correct this injustice and bring back your family to you. I swear this on my name." Your Love says in his most inspirational tone. The one he used when declaring his love to you, you almost feel jealous, this tone is for you!
"What my Little Bird is saying is that we are competent at finding lost things, we will find him." You add, using the moment to get a little better at tracking simply by implying that you do already know how to do so.
"I… thank you." Is all the couple can answer after that.
You say your goodbyes and go find the officer you should have been directed to in the first place, since he is the one with the information you need for the case. He tries to tell you some stupid remark about how the kid did this to get attention or something, but you and your love simply bumrush through his excuses and get the location where the boy has been sent, as well as when it happened.
You take a Bullhead and begin preparing your search.
Vote:
You have a loose circle on where the boy could be, he has been missing since around one hour ago.
There should be no Grimm in the immediate area, ones who caused this whole thing were caught by a Patrol which just finished its check.
You are on a Bullhead that will take you to the forest and back. You can jump from it if you choose, and have prearranged a rendezvous point
How do you approach this?
[] Search as the Specter, you can cover ground quickly in this form, but fighting if the boy is in danger can have some delay if you come back to your normal state to do so.
[] Search as the Thorn, she has some ways to feel plants, this may work. This may not.
[] Search as yourself, no special way to find the boy, but the fastest reaction if you find him in danger.
[] Write-in.

Well, as you can see there is a little case of racism going on there.
Vale is the least racist kingdom, least racist does not mean not racist though, and police is unfortunately one of the places where racism tends to have some ground to fester, so the kid's case was not taken as seriously as it should have.
Fortunately, you found the offer quickly and got on site as soon as you did, so you have less risks of a worst-case scenario.
Do remember that Grimm are attracted to negativity and the boy is probably afraid right now, this can help finding him but also means you shouldn't take too long.
Right now, he should be safe, there are regular patrols in the closest parts of the forest (the bullies where found by one in fact) and they make sure there are no creature of Grimm too close.
This vote length should be one or two days at least, maybe more, we'll see.
[X] There is a missing person report. Huntsmen are required as the last known place is in the forest of Forever Fall.
