Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

[X] Yog

Edit:

I don't think we should make it part of our fealty offer, but it would be interesting to get access to more wyrms. We should see if Porter has cousins looking for a job, or rivals we can beat up and compel to become his subordinates.

He's probably dragon enough that getting to loom over his former competitors would be a very satisfying job benefit, and while there are issues with that as a hiring policy it's less of one with properly managed spirits.

Not as many votes as usual several hours after update. Perhaps people are lazying off on sunday, or maybe the vote or its options are not quite conductive to participation.

one part was waiting for a write in after a certain point though it just didn't matter also I'm sick so my minds kinda out of it right now.

Since we're not talking about anything else right now I think it might be a good time to poke a the idea of drone minions again.

With the FCF it's easier than ever. We can commission bodies there and then use HMP to infuse the sutra* instead of traditional methods. That way if they're destroyed they go to our aura instead of dying and anyone trying to steal their souls during that process has to wrestle us for them. It's not a perfect defense, but it's still a pretty decent one.

We can have more dangerous ones waiting just off the arrival room so if we have time to prep we can deploy them without carrying them to the fight, and keep more low profile options with us or in our cars so they can deploy even if we don't have time to play taxi.

Showing up to a fight with electro laser pistols or flaying beams like I've previously described mounted on unfolding quadcopters, robo-wasps full of acid like we have in last station, and all sorts of other toys would be very helpful as our enemies continue to bring adds to our fights.

Hiding them could be a problem, but it's not like we've been regularly searched so far and we have options to make it work.

* As an aside, I'm actually kind of sad we pull from our hell for those guys now. I really like sutra, but rescuing cyber devils from hell was cool. They really are the best idea anyone has had in the thousand hells since they rebelled, Mikaboshi doesn't deserve them. 10/10 would unleash in effectively limitless numbers on the unsuspecting mortal world.

So long as all the stuff we being from our hell has a double backup failsafe bomb to prevent capture.
I don't think that should be a problem, especially with whatever stupidly dense energy source the ray guns use. For thematic reasons I'm kind of hoping it's something like a diamond gammavoltaic battery (general nuclear battery stuff here). In real life these are impractical and low energy, but with the power of bullshit material science and actual magic they're an excuse to have glowing power crystals fuel our devices.

We can hand wave something using a capacitor to fry all the internals and burst the cell to irradiate what's left.

also you know even a lot of supernatural forces don't really have anyway of capturing souls and such. Like its not a common skill I know Mab can do it but she at least needed help in Dresdens case and she certainly had claim on his in the first place to some degree. I don't think even she has much actual power in that area.

True, it's still worth noting because we're technically using demons to possess things, which is open to different sorts of techniques than a mortal soul in a body. Banishing or capturing them is a whole different thing.

Oh I'm sure there are those who can affect said things but have basically no control like things that nibble on souls, then we got the denizens of the hells who well even most of them don't really have soul controlling or storing stuff but plenty of them do, then there are those with exorcism and banishment type stuff, then we have super powerful figures who none the less don't have shit that do this cause its just not in their wheel house. Best to be careful anyways though.

Sesil clears her throat. "Most, spirits can be quite recalcitrant lot, particularly those most aged and used to sweet coaxing. That is what was on the order of our council until the news of your Arrival reached us. Certain Underwyrm sprits pledged to guard the trains between the City of Endings and the City of Journeys have taken to demanding unreasonable toles of life-essence to sustain themselves. This council has been slow to do what must be done to remove this unseemly blackmail."

"By which she means we do not wish to banish some of the most ancient and wise underwyrms howling into the wastes and replace them with robotic sentinels," Arte buzzes. "I offer profuse apologies for my college for imposing such mundane matters..."

"If She wished a chorus of praise she would have gone to a temple," the Exarch of Endings cuts them off flatly. "Such 'mundane matters' is what we are tasked to deal with and behold She is here."

How do you deal with the Exarchate?
Did we just pass by those Wyrm? Also is it possible that we can kill two birds with one stone by assigning those Wyrm to Last Station?

Of course we need to talk to the Underwyrm sprits first don't want to just highhandly reassign them.

No that is almost on the opposite end of the world, between the City of Endings and City of Journeys, this was between the Palace and the City of Fountains. The Underwyrms here are quiescent.

The conclusion to that was to negotiate a workable deal, so they're still probably working their old jobs.

It's not necessarily a good idea to let spirits that old and knowledgeable loose in the world for long periods of time.

That charm applies to things we do, not order done.

The enginseers doing it saves us time, but trades away our ability to apply exalted bullshit.

Then it applies to the leadership roll. Leadership isn't just about convincing people to do things we have other skill for that it's about organizing to help them do them well.

Considering that the engineers are COD that plus TLoF and excellentcy is Exalted bullshit.

Also the engineers we bring in might actually have higher base dots for crafting rolls then we do.

They're good yeah, and I'd prefer using them for this, but they aren't exalts. The reach of inspiration is limited.

It's also not clear what you intend, probably because your post got partially eaten:

The enginseers adding environmental protections doesn't trigger a charm that effects our rolls, and the second sentence doesn't make sense.

Are we rolling to make an inspiring speech before they start? Sketching blueprints for them to use? Playing foreman or otherwise actively working on the final product?

Those aren't bad ideas, but they're different ones.

All of that but also convincing Last Potter.
