Note that we need to acquire a total of 5 Operations and/or Facilities dice before the end of the year, and while I like most of CyberEnby's plan, it doesn't start the fairly lengthy process we'll need to begin racking them up in either category. Completing the dice-adders early will also assist us in completing our other promises down the line, whereas projects like Rocket Reels don't add to our output (despite being very good and useful and a promise we made).

HSR pad adds 1 ops dice, so I'm taking that. I don't see any other options under Facilities to increase our Ops Dice rn.
Taking Power in a Union first doesn't actually help us because we're limited to 3 dice per project anyway, so we need to complete Dnipro on 3 dice max per turn, while we're already at 4 dice in Facilities.

Honestly I'm a bit pissed that this plan decided to have us take 5 whole dice this year and then didn't use any of the immediate dice options like wholesale paying for more facilities dice off the bat or going for the rocket factories that would have yielded Ops dice.

-[] And do a recon launch in the North American conflict (gains launch experience)
Does this take a die or is a free action like normal launches? And do we have to use the R-1?
[ ] Conduct Materials Research (Phase 2) - Better alloys would lead to higher-performing engines and lighter rockets, you were told. Some preliminary research had already been done into the subject, giving you a much-improved set of materials with which to build your rockets and engines out of, but there was much more that could be done. (20R per die, 2/200, provides access to aluminum structures)
We completed Phase 1 last turn, which said it unlocked aluminum.

Changed from Rocket Reels to Power In a Union so that we have facilities dice to build a runway with. Runway and HSR pad will give us 2 ops dice, Power in a Union will givew 1 Facilities Dice, so we just repeat Power in a Union once to get all the dice we need to fuilfil our promise.

Damn you. I had a well-written effortpost arguing for exactly this almost ready to post only for you to beat me to the punch! 😁

That being said, there is one minor point where you didn't utterly preempt me. The plan goal mentioned that we need 10 dice by Q1 1954. Theoretically, we may be able to complete the project by asking for more facilities dice next World Council meeting. I'm not saying we should rely on it, but it could make for a nice safety net in the highly unlikely event we end up with another Rocket Boxes situation.

Do you mean 1954? :p

It's a free action.

There's supposed to be another word before aluminum. Ty.

Are you sure building a runway is OK? We did promise to not undertake spaceplane research, and a runway sounds a lot like spaceplanes. This isn't exactly the era of very heavy cargo aircraft yet.

Still probably good to get PiaU early anyway for the +5 to facilities rolls.

On another note, when does the coin flip from Publications Office get rolled? I guess we've been unlucky so far.

Yeah, we checked with the GM. Runway and hangar does not count towards Spaceplanes.

Can confirm. You have uses for a big runway that don't mean spaceplanes. Same with the hangar.

As a note, I've updated the Discord link in the informational post to have a link that isn't expired. If you want to come nerd out about rockets with those of us who are there, feel free.

The Jet Cruiser (In-Universe Propaganda) (Canon)
The Year is 1955

It's a crisp, cold winter's day. A thin layer of frost covers the silent streets of Europe. A few people go about their business, huddling against the cold. They keep their eyes to the ground, making sure not to lose their footing.
Had they looked to the stars above, they might have seen it. One of the stars is not like the others, but moves slowly across the firmament. Not a shooting star, granting wishes to delighted children, but a far more serious portent.

This is the Jet Cruiser, a terrifying weapon that even now finds roots in the brains of those engineers to eager to forget the lessons of war.

Back in Europe, the alarms are now ringing in local airbases. The Jet Cruiser has bypassed the continental chain of radar beacons protecting Europe, but as descends towards the continent, other radars pick up the intruders. Hurried messages are sent towards local airbases, and pilots rush towards their planes. No matter how fast, no matter how capable, they are already too late. The Jet cruiser is 15 000 meters up while their planes are on the ground. And even if they had the time to get in the air, their engines could not run at this altitude.

The Jet Cruiser is the unstoppable bomber. Twin rocket jet engines carry it on a ballistic trajectory towards it's destination, far further than any rocket could reach.

Comfortable in their isolated cockpit, the pilots calmly open the letters they have been provided with. Within, they find final instructions, and the name of the city whose memorial will grace tomorrow's headlines. Calmly, they adjust their instruments. Tele-operated ailerons allow the pilots easy control even at speeds far beyond the speed of sound, and the jet cruiser turns inexorably towards it's destination. At a height of 10 000 meters, the crew is ready for their bombing run. They make the final adjustments, feeding wind, speed and distance into their automatic bomb sight, and prepare to open the bomb bay.

The Jet Cruiser can strike at any time. It's crew is not stopped by weather or wind.

The air raid sirens are bellowing now, the streets filled with people running towards shelter. High above the crowds, a metal shell detaches from the cruiser and starts it's descends. Not 15 minutes after the weapon has been detected, an atomic plume rises above the city. Most shelters are still open, and the fire washes inside. Only a small fraction of people survive, those who were closed their shelters in time, knowing that in doing so they doomed hundreds, and those who by luck or happenstance managed to find a private shelter that was isolated and sturdy enough to survive the blast.

Sheltering from the Jet Cruiser is impossible. It will strike before you are ready.

Mission accomplished, the jet cruiser turns for home. It's engines ignite, and it climbs away, far faster than any interceptor could hope to match. The mission is complete .
Below, dawn breaks above a burning city. Tomorrow night, a new reign of darkness will start across the continent, but it will not matter. Kept save within it's nose, the jet cruiser has a radar set, and with an experienced operator in the crew the vehicle can find any target anywhere on Earth.

The reach of the Jet Cruiser is total.

Bring an end to the terror weapons before they exist.
Support the SDL in it's total ban on spaceplane development.

Note : Have some in-universe propaganda as to why everyone is so happy on banning spaceplanes.

Enjoy your +15 to whatever you want. I greatly enjoyed that! :)

Obviously our anti-SDL propaganda should focus on how dangerous ICBMs are in comparison to show how foolish they're being.

They can't be that good if they don't have an article in Popular Mechanics.

Random Event: Such a Thing as Bad Publicity

One of your engineers was so indignant at the SDL hit pice on spaceplanes that they wrote an article on the use rockets as delivery platforms for nuclear warheads and sent it to the same magazine. It's really quite detailed. Horrifyingly detailed. (-5 PS)

Why would you engage in such provocation?

Voting opened two hours ago, by the by. Forgot to put up a message.

[X] Plan: High Energy Sausage Making

This plan only uses two political dice though, @CyberEnby; can I suggest putting the third into Power in a Union again?
