My heart says dragonid, but my brain admits that we shouldnt go off of style alone. And that shifting gears into unarmed combat wouldn't be the best considering how present the yoyo is as a gimmick. Though I guess hot-swapping to the yoyo for utility purposes (lasso, freezing it in place for positional benefit) isn't that much of a stretch.

Although I guess it's not stated if they have proper dragon heads. For all we know they could just look like goombas from the Mario Bros movie.

I'll admit to not being too enthused at the Dryad race, but I think it's better than Scion of the Zree. While I admit that the longterm boons are enticing, the Drawbacks last until we get 50 in INT and CON. And the sheer severity of the stat debuffs and disadvantages mean that I'm not comfortable voting for it.
Are you comfortable with this alternative?
(Can have him imitiating the Dragon look.
Only real benefit would be better defense if we get some metal for the scales, but he'd look cool. Without the Hoard issue.)
[X] Plan: Wheeling, Dealing, System Screwing alternative
-[X] Leo
--[X] Race (L): Doppelganger
--[X] Class: Wheeler Dealer
-[X] Taylor
--[X] Race (T): Doppelganger
--[X] Class: Sysops

edit: seems tally bot didn't like my original syntax. Nothing of the content changed though, just making sure it get picked up correctly.

Having two doppelgangers is a bit silly, though. Having a bit of variety is good for the viewers.

How does Be My Second from Duelist interact with damage immunities? If the target is immune to a damage type, does that make you effectively immune to damage of that type? Conversely, if you're immune to poison, can do you Be My Second on someone and drink poison to safely poison them?

If Drew picks Wizard Supremacist and gets the +20 int, Taylor can copy that and get to 50 int right away. We might be able to get to adult Zree before the end of the floor.

Well, dopplegening into one just doesn't feel the same ya know?

Besides like someone said earlier. The base combat power boost from dragonid would be nice to supplement how sysop is purely utility. But there might be a better race for that (I'll admit, i haven't thoroughly read through everything)

But for the time being:

[X] Plan: WDSS, with a side of dragon.

My mind is willing to be changed. Heart isn't but it can deal with it. One vote don't matter much anyway.

Crawler #5. Taylor.
Level: 1
Race: Human
Class: None
Strength: 4
Intelligence: 5
Constitution: 4
Dexterity: 5
Charisma: 5
Has Taylor gotten any stat points since then?

Assuming no other points but we can copy the +20, we have a total of 70 of the 100 points needed to Zree (9 + 20 + 3(15) - 4). We'd need either 10 more levels, or 9 and some stat boosts.

How about an alternative that pleases both heart and mind?
With "[] Plan: Wheeling, Dealing, System Screwing alternative" we have a very useful Race (quote of our game guide Managers opinion below), that can let us look however we want. Including a like an anthropomorphic dragon, or a feral dragon.

"Used correctly, this can be an incredibly powerful race," Levi said. "The trick is that it's not like Changeling or Copy Cat, where the system handles the transformation for you. You need to sculpt your body manually, and that takes practice. On the other hand, the things you can do..." He shook his head. "It can be amazing. You get a backpack, you load it up with a huge amount of metal, and you can cover your entire body in a layer of metal two inches thick. You can become the tankiest tank that has ever tanked, and then if you can find a source of electricity you become a walking taser, or even arc welder. You can put spikes on yourself in order to cause extra damage. You can flow under doors and through narrow pipes, form yourself into copies of the guards or important NPCs, disguise yourself as a feature of the architecture. It can get ridiculous."

If we use our pressure washer or (comparable item ) we can wear it, then redistribute it so we have a flame thrower to spit fire. Or put the nozzle into our hand for better aiming.
Doppelganger isn't weak, we just need to figure out how to use it properly for different situations.

Having two doppelgangers is a bit silly, though. Having a bit of variety is good for the viewers.
For the Style variety we can use the doppelganger skills.
Want a Pantherlady on a skateboard? Sure.
Want a Dragondude kicking ass with a yo-yo? No problem.

You have a point. But my heart can't ignore the difference between "dopplegeiner in the shape of a dragon" and "dragon". But WDSSa was probably gonna win regardless. Even if doubling up on dopplegeiners is kinda boring.

And if we do go dopplegenier I'd rather not be shackled to being dragon-like. If your gonna dopple go all the way.

I'll stick with my plan, incase I have any sympathizers.

No need to stick with one idea of what to doppelganger consistently as one thing. We can be whatever we want. And have Leo and Tay have different takes.

Good luck with "WDSS, with a side of dragon".

Alright, here are the most recent votes (as of a moment ago). Doublecheck to make sure your votes are being counted, because I know that some of mine weren't.

Levi's eye stalks rose up. "Ooh, right, I forgot about that. Once he hits an Intelligence of 2, I think he'll count as sapient. I'll be able to turn his interface on and yes, he'll be able to open loot boxes. Wow. He'll have a craptop of them by then."

Taylor grinned and scritched furiously at Moose's neck rough. "That's my good boy. You are going to break this place."

Moose looked delighted. Uncomprehending, but delighted.

"Will he be able to talk?" Calliope asked.

"Maybe," Levi said. "He won't have the vocal structures for it, but the dungeon is weird sometimes. He'll be able to use chat, though."

Taylor carefully did not ask the obvious question: Would the Sysop class let me transfer Moose's boxes to someone who can actually use them? The answer was almost certainly 'yes, but it's hard to predict how Borant will respond.' Still, it was worth considering.

Great! Can't wait for Moose to hit level 30!

He probably also has some nice achievements. In DCC some people got legendary boxes (iirc) for reaching the third floor without killing anything, and maybe something else for not having taken the tutorial. It seems within the AI's humour to give you great boxes for not being able to open your boxes.

Actually thinking a bit more we don't have to waste Leo's class on wheeler dealer. Because Taylor already has it on his list we can copy Character Actor from Drew and copy Wheeler Dealer next floor and try and get Rank up that way. And if it doesn't work we get a second chance with Leo doing the same thing.

There is no guarantee that copying Wheeler Dealer really gives the Rollup skill. As pointed out by @RandomOTP, Levi does not seem to think it would be likely given how game-breaking it is. If we copy Wheeler Dealer but do not get the skill, we have basically wasted the Character Actor skill for the floor. And there is no guarantee either that Wheeler Dealer would stay on Taylor's class list for Character Actor. If we want to go with the Rollup plan, I'd rather do it "honestly" by having Calliope take the class.

On Scion of the Zree, I agree it has a lot of potential, but:
1) Ewwww. It would not only be physically risky, but also very hard on Taylor's mental, not to mention the impact on our social.
2) It's very high early risk, high late reward. If we go with Sysop + Wheeler Dealer as classes, we already have early weakness and good late potential, so I don't like combining these with Scion of the Zree. If we go for other classes, then mayyyyybe.

As @eaglejarl suggested, I think it would be better to discuss options without voting for now, given how much there is to unpack and how important these decisions are. Maybe it's a bit late for that, but we shouldn't focus too much on existing plans.

"Speaking of Moose," Drew said, even though the conversation had moved on. "When we first got here, Moose batted at the air as if he were getting the same notifications as us. Has he been getting loot boxes?"

"Yes," Levi said. "Anything above a certain weight that comes into the dungeon gets a crawler ID. Anything with a crawler ID earns achievements and loot boxes. It's not meaningful with pets in most cases, since they can never open them, but the system does it because it's easier than having a special exception and it works well in cases where the pet gets transformed into a sapient through some means."

"As a Soulbonded Familiar, Moose gets +1 Intelligence every 30 levels," Taylor reminded him. "Does that mean he'll be able to open them when he hits level 30?"

"Maybe," Levi said. "He won't have the vocal structures for it, but the dungeon is weird sometimes. He'll be able to use chat, though."
If we managed to buff Mooses intelligence to 2 while still on this floor (or even in this room still), could he then also choose a Race and Class?
Taylor nodded, thinking. He went back and reread some of his options and then asked, "Just how rich are the Zree? Like, in comparison to the rest of the Syndicate? And how likely are they to use that to our benefit?"

"'Very' and 'fairly, I think'," Levi said. "I'm not an expert on galactic lore, but my understanding is that the Zree are an entire eusocial species where only the royals are sapient. They breed fast and control a lot of worlds. An uncountable number of tireless and perfectly coordinated workers generates one deeps of an economy. The fact that their royals explicitly go out and form bonds with other species before transforming means that they've got a good-sized net of allies, and they are known for two things: playing straight with people who play straight with them, and absolutely annhiliating the fuck out of anyone who does them wrong. This race could only be here if they authorized it, meaning that they are looking for candidates who are smart enough and tough enough to prove themselves in the dungeon, and honorable enough to serve their indenture without being censured. If they like what they see then there's a good chance they would sign up as a Benefactor on the fifth or sixth floor, and urge their allies to do the same. As long as you live up to their standards, it would go an enormous way to guaranteeing your survival."

"Hm," Taylor said. Living up to the unspecified standards of an alien species had some flags over it, but if Levi was right that it simply consisted of "survive and be honorable" then that was straightforward.
Levi, can you make an educated guess what the Zree's opinion of SysOp copying the "Zreean Royal Metamorphosis benefit" of a friend would be?
Would they apreciate the craftiness of pulling that off and judge us on our behaviors, or would they consider it dishonorable and "doing them wrong"?

(Like seriously, Manager benefit + 25k/week stipend? would be extremely weird if no one from the Astro Army took it)

I don't think so. Moose isn't a Crawler, he's a Familiar.
He has a crawler ID.
He gets achievments and loot boxes but cant open them because the interface is disabled for him because of a lack of INT.

Could be that picking a class is just disabled because lacking INT. And if we get him in later floors to int high enough we can't pick a race/class because "sorry, that is floor 3 only".

Could also be a strict nope, but who knows.

I'm willing to accept all the consequences in the effort of making sure we have solid allies; that the Zree are well liked, well funded, and actually amicable (according to Levi) makes me fairly certain that's the build I want for Taylor.

Seems unlikely. First they might not have been given the option. After all only one of us did. Second they are all going to get offered hundreds of races and their tutor isn't nearly as helpful.

Two of us have been. Drew and Tay.

And it would in their Tutors interest, Zree comes with Manager:
More importantly, being a manager has two big advantages: first, it pays way better than being a game guide, both in terms of time off my indenture and money added to the stipend I'll receive once I'm finally free.

You've almost convinced me to give Scion of the Zree a go. (Still not voting yet as a principle, doesn't mean I don't like the plan.)

We should note that Zree + Sysop means committing to human as the adult form, since Sysop is an Earth class.

The fact that Moose already has a ton of unopened loot boxes means that the Wheeler Dealer plus Sysop combo isn't just a long term thing.

As soon as we pick it we transfer Moose's boxes over and power level roll up. We should be the best equipped team on this floor by a few miles.

This combo involves the whole team all 4 of us.

Moose supplies the boxes. Talyor transfers the boxes. Leo rolls up the boxes and Drew makes those rolls lucky.
