Deedeequest or The Wonders of Mundus: Be Careful Who You Pretend To Be - A Genderous Isekai Quest

How Dice Rolls Work
Character sheet is here.

Dice rolls are 1d10 + Stat + Proficiency + any applicable bonuses, such as Boons.

You may spend 3 Tension to Overdrive for a retroactive +5 to your roll (a Determination Overdrive), or +3 to an ally's roll (a Teamwork Overdrive). I will also automatically overdrive to avoid exhaustion or unconsciousness.

It is possible to critically succeed (on +5 on skill checks and +10 on combat rolls) or critically fail (by the same margins), but rolling a 1 or a 10 does not automatically crit in either case. It is possible to crit retroactively by Overdriving.

Your stat bonuses have names:
  • Vigor grants a Strength bonus.
  • Agility grants a Dexterity bonus.
  • Spirit grants an Aura bonus.
  • Mind grants an Intuition bonus.
  • Resolve grants a Guts bonus.
Dice are rolled on a first come, first serve bonus. You only roll for Deedee.

Who will we talk to, when we can't sleep? Approval voting enabled.
[X] [TALK] Ace.
[X] [TALK] Alesha.

I think these two's perspective could be valuable.

What side-effects can we better cope with?
[X] [DRUGS] Brainfog - sometimes losing your train of thought.

As someone who experiences this naturally sometimes, I find it a space rife with interesting and/or humorous possibilities.

Right! Reposting those votes now. The first because it's me and I have a clear favorite best boy—the second because I find it relatable.

I feel like Roomie Time is always a good thing, and hopefully we can read Alesha in on the Genders thing. She's currently the only one who doesn't know, and that's already awkward, and only gonna get more so fast.

[X] [DRUGS] Still depressed - less so, this isn't the right dose (No change of flaw, but her mindset improves).

Likewise, I feel like this will least impair the upcoming Probably Battle situation; even if we're going to have time to adjust to the feeling, there's not going to be a whole lot of chances to physically practice while on a long cart ride. Less of the devil we know seems better than inviting the devil we don't. (Ah, Med Roulette.)

I'll have to think on the charge chance beyond the immediate thought of I Spy.

I guess if Bii is gonna do that, I gotta be that person too.

If I'm parsing the corresponding Flaws correctly- Which, I want to be clear here, I may not be, so don't take my word as gospel- I feel like mechanically this is the best choice, even if the brainfog is intensely relatable.

For entertainment...sharing stories? True or otherwise.

...Why are there so many "we"s in the update...? I thought we were getting a second-person perspective.

Because when I'm recompiling and editing Volume 1, I'm editing for first person, and may have gotten my wires crossed.

If you can pm me the errors you notice I'll be grateful and fix the update tomorrow. If not, I'll... still give fixing it a shot tomorrow.

Describe things we - that is, Tayeb, Shadi, and our party - can do to amuse ourselves during the interminable boredom of two, mostly uneventful, weeks by horse-cart to Vinyedo. The best two answers earn Tension, but all answers will be acknowledged and incorporated.
Well, discarding my shitpost instincts for a moment, I suppose singing is traditional.

I'll go with Alesha because her not knowing DD is trans and accidentally saying shitty things makes me sad. As for the drugs, I kind of hate mindfog and depression IRL, and suddenly losing balance in this job sounds like a great way to get killed. Well, badly hurt, since the GMs are merciful.

[X] [TALK] Alesha.
[X] [DRUGS] Fatigue, leaving you physically exhausted without the attendant dread.

For the Charge Chance: sharing traditional stories of one's people.

By which I mean, naturally, Deeds is going to start retelling her favourite standalone anime episodes and the like - it'll be an interesting thing framing characters as archetypes that people with no direct familiarity with the works can pick up on!

(My first pick if I was doing something like that would be the lost Pai Sho tile episode from early Avatar - it lets you sketch in a lot of characters, I could fill in the bits I've forgotten with ad-lib shenanigans, and out of the context of leaving it to develop for a bit longer in the show, hinting that Iroh probably did that on purpose would be a great twist ending.)

Not feeling a strong opinion on the vote - I like all these options.

Alesha needs to be read in on various interpersonal things (with Sek's approval only) because while she doesn't mean to be hurting Deeds and Sek, she kind of is a bit and I suspect she wouldn't actually want to be. She does seem like good people, overall. As to the drugs... moderately less depressed is the least debilitating effect. Also one I'm well familiar with myself...

As to what we're talking about... since soccer is A Thing here, Deeds and Ace and anyone else who played in their youth should find it a safe enough topic to explore. Favorite teams and rivals, regional rule quirks and differences, pickup games some evenings...

"If you read that - you can read, Cleric? - you will learn that my mistress is far more generous than that," Tomas said, shifting in place, stiffly.
Hmm... I wonder how common literacy is among the merchant class. I have a fun idea for the Charge Chance but it'd depend on whether our fellow travelers know how to spell.

We need to have some conversations with the bestie.

[X] [DRUGS] Fatigue, leaving you physically exhausted without the attendant dread.

The minmaxer's choice is actually keeping Despair on the sheet, since that only procs if an ally gets KO'd. However, I think that Lack of Control will be more interesting, since it means we need to tactically conserve our stamina/pneuma/MP/whatever we're calling it in this thread.

I think mental limitations are -the worst-, so that's an easy enough choice for me.

[X] [TALK] Alesha.

I agree with others on the reasoning here: she's a close friend and there's air that we've, uh, come to realize needs clearing sooner than later to avoid putting that at risk.

As for the side effect issue... I am going to focus less on "which of these side effects sucks the least" and more on "can we kill two birds with one stone".

[X] [DRUGS] Fatigue, leaving you physically exhausted without the attendant dread.

Yes, there'd probably be some mechanical worry attached to this (although I don't know exactly how it'll be crunched out). But encouraging Deeds (and us) to rest more deliberately instead of continuing to charge into boss battles "on low" seems... good? We have Mutan's blessing, after all; with their help, we should secure at least some benefit despite this side effect.

[Charge Chance] We come from a culture/society with its own "car games" or "roadtrip games"; it would make sense to apply those to this problem. The difference in setting narrows it down (no license plate games or roadsign games) and cultural compatibility might narrow it down further (anything that requries "pop culture" references or knowledge of famous people/places will be hard for our fellow travelers to join in on). So what about Shiritori/Word Chain? It's structural, not meaning-based like 20 Questions - you could even replace "initial/final letters" for "initial/final sounds" if someone wants to get in on it who can't read. Alternatively, there's always Lodden Thinks, which is sometimes more fun the more clueless you are.
