Not unless something big happened in the last couple of weeks/months, but thats how Athena explained it to Walker rather than say, "I'm an AI thats forked off my inventors personality."
Its a lot easier to grasp, isn't a security leak and has a lot of parallels to the actual situation, so it makes a good coverup.
 
Athena seems to let her girlfriend think she's running entirely on Liv's wetware, when in fact she runs on an independent server-thingy and only occasionally dips into Liv's brain directly. It gives "Walker Zero" a rather different picture of their relationship than the real thing.

Yeah, that's about what I thought.

Well, it wouldn't be a genuine Spiderverse experience if there weren't several webs of lies and half-explanations that end up hurting people involved when they inevitably unravel.

TBF: I am an Artificial Intelligence is unlikely to be taken as a genuine statement. And she does admit to being a robot. ;)

We don't see why this would hurt Walker?
Athena and Liv are plural/multiple.
They share thoughts and memories in a way that many other systems do (for others, such as Walker and her system, it is more difficult, but Liv and Athena are not unique here). Athena and Liv can switch and share control over a single body (though there are a lot of people in plural systems who do not do that, FYI). They have an inevitably linked history that makes them incredibly close.

In effect, Athena did not talk about, or fudged, some system history. But since she did not lie about who she is, not really about her situation, that should not change much.
We also don't always tell people how exactly we came to be, because that's just not common etiquette in plural spaces. Sure, people may want to know what your dissociative barriers are like, and if and how trauma affects you, and other stuff that amounts to "okay, tell me what I have to pay attention to when interacting with you" but that's different than knowing the possible reasons behind all that.

My main gripe is that it makes Olivia come off as somewhat of an asshole concealing another member inhabiting her body from her girlfriend instead of a scared teenager who transgressed upon the domain of divine and created/became possibly the first transhuman in the world with absolutely no idea of how to campaign for Athena's rights or even reveal her very existence without also making her very vulnerable to physical violence.

Since I thought they considered themselves separate transhuman entities existing on two separate platforms, given that they didn't arrive to a consensus you describe here during the previous quest.

To be fair, considering the fact that Liv is dealing with chronic pain, dysphoria, AND super-villains who can sometimes control brains with their weird powers, having the ability to control her own brain through hypnosis does make sense to me.

...also, it's hot.

I don't know a lot about the real life circumstances of multiples so I'll bow to your understanding, however the question was do they identify as such, and while I could believe Athene does I don't think Liz does given that if I remember right she was kinda wierded out by knowing that Athene was talking to Walker.
Its likely that was just ignorance and her views may have changed since then as she's learnt more, but if so I don't remember it being in the story. Given the themes in that one were about overworking and maintaining a life balance I think its likely that it got put off until this one as opening with this discussion is probably a sign that this is what this thread will be about.

I might just have to reread the last thread again to refresh my memory though.

First priority is to keep Liv from losing any more body parts involuntarily.

Armor for protection. Spider-friend because I can't resist anything called spider-friend. Tentacles so that, should we ever dimensional travel, we can more easily facilitate the inevitable misunderstanding and spider-punch up.
