Unerring is able to manually train rank. Considering every enemy so far that provides rank came with a % of dying, I'm not inclined to that route.

I might be incorrect, but isn't training significantly less effective?

We get Stranglethorn next chance we get to counteract the decrease while taking advantage of the manual rank training Unerring gets us?

Get Stranglethorn with Uttermost to utterly crush that dumb, stinky, hyperlogarithmic scale?

Nothing is stopping us from taking Stranglethorn after Uttermost either, for the much needed Constitution and the insanity of double Willpower. The delta between Rank gains will remain the same.

I actually loathe this. But I guess I'm sympathetic to argument that it complements Stranglethorn really well and it's drawbacks can be addressed later. Stay away from that kid in the meanwhile, tho.

It's at least better than the obviously insane situation of a week-old Cursebearer trading away their ability to mitigate one of their curses whatsoever for a slip of their eventual power. What the fuck?

Y'all joke, but there's a difference between being pulled different ways on subsequent votes and outright not comprehending that there is a long term. we could achieve great power any number of ways, so frivolously picking one that unnecessarily prevents the best ending is...why?

@Byzantine

I'll switch my vote to Unerring... if and only if you promise to vote and advocate for Stranglethorn the next time it comes up. And if that fails, to do it again the next time Stranglethorn comes up. Forever, until we get Stranglethorn or it stops being offered.

Vote, even if it cannot be voted!

No veto, no "but actually agility is really valuable", no "but this is a super rare option". Commit to voting for Stranglethorn, no matter what, and I'll respect that dedication.

Deal. I was the original stranglethorn advocate the first time! I can do it again!

Our build has a malus to training efforts that aren't based on killing things with Hunger

Alright. Looking forward to seeing you prove yourself. Would be astonishing to see us actually follow through on a build plan for once...

You know it's strange, but Hunger seems to have a rather muted personality in spite of wearing Hunger which explicitly makes one more.. more. Like Heroic Passions. Except I get the impression that Passions!Hunger would be major net improvement.

Hell, even I promise to do that. I will vote for Stranglethorn at every opportunity and only switch to tactical voting when it isn't viable to win.

You could always take Unerring Inheritor! The Stats are quite good and the ability is okay. It's basically Dexterity Essence Triumphant with a few utility / esoteric effects.

Stranglethorn is garbage with Unerring though because at least half of the latter's power set is based on Agility. Nerfing that with Stranglethorn would be a massive anti-synergy between two of our Defining Advancements. Chances are, we'll just choose some other Defining Advancement to make up the Rank penalty. This is the opposite of what you want if you want to get Stranglethorn. At least Uttermost has a level of synergy with cheap, extremely powerful blade-projections reducing the need for Agility and a massive Willpower bonus.

I really love the planning and forethought behind these Unerring into Stranglethorn votes. I'm down to switch to see some commitment.

I don't recall "no matter what" having a provision for tactical voting... :thonk:

The agreement is that I'll switch away from Uttermost, as long as Byzantine proves that his willpower is greater than even that option provides. As I said: "Vote, even if it cannot be voted!"

I'll precommit to vote for Stranglethorn next round for anybody who switches to Uttermost now.

I actually don't understand the stat buffs. Does Unerring provide a % boost of our total which would offset Stranglethorn, or does it provide a % boost of Amarlt's total, which will not grow over time, and will be made obsolete by Stranglethorn?

Is it 50% of ours for the first attribute, and 50% of theirs for the second?

This is pretty important!

Now I am imagining Byzantine voting for Stranglethorn even when it isn't an option
