Maximum growth, synergy and power build is still King's Sceptre (with inbuilt To Shatter Heaven) + Acceretion + Hunger + Intensify + Forebear's sword while using the King's Scepter's remittance to further empower Acceretion.

[] Plan To Shatter Heaven
-[] The King's Scepter
-[] Accretion
-[] Hunger
-[] Intensify
-[] Forebear's Blade

I might as well vote for what I actually want at this point. Fuck companions. Fuck peace. We wanted to go full Vengeance right? Than let's do it properly.

Edit: Nvm

Meanwhile, SS works best with Sword because despite all the fear about not giving us actual, immediate benefits, it can unlock the power of imprisoning attacks. If that doesn't sound like an incredible instrument of survival, I don't know what it is.

The problem with that logic is physical speed. Being able to imprison an attack from saay, a Cultivator with notably superior physical capabilities is essentially meaningless if they get their killblast in before we can bring our sword to bear to block it.

I realized something about Gisena. She has 2 physical dots, countermagic/curse mitigation, and her physical capabilities are modestly superhuman.

Catherine has 5 physical dots yet is described as peak human. Is that a skill and coordination thing? Which one would be a better candidate for Medea to use Age of God's level reinforcement on?

On another note, countermagic is well and good but what of synergies with our own system? Whatever Catherine's Soul Evocation is, it's probably easier to mine for synergies compared to Gisena"s magic.

Edit: After digging up Catherine's Blurb it does look like peak human melee combat skills make her the better candidate to use Age of God's level reinforcement on.

The King's Scepter provides a cushion of initial power, useful for all the reasons that've been expounded on. Lacking Intensify adds a bit of early-game heat, but we retain non-combat utility. Perhaps the Accursed will have mercy on us and just give us whatever he thinks will fit best, rather than triggering another build vote. Accretion and the Forebear's Blade scale with our accomplishments, ensuring we're never without a relevant weapon. With Hunger in here, we turn into a snowball of murder, ricocheting from fight to fight building our legend and getting ever-stronger as we wade through an ocean of corpses while the world decays around us! Vendetta certainly has an aesthetic to it. The biggest weakness of the build's a lack of mitigation, but you easily could swap Accretion for Seven Seals and try to upgrade Relinquishment.

Which is amazing, a decade is an eyeblink in the eon-spanning journey of a Cursebearer. Better yet, time off stacks. Tactically duck our Curses, trigger this during a period of Apocryphal upheaval or if we've been politically outmaneuvered while wearing Tyrannical blinders. I wonder how instructions from our past, sane self interact with the Doom? It's hard to mitigate, but following through on one's commitments seems like a possible tweak. Having picked Vendetta, at some point we need to actually carry out our promised vengeance, which we can't do while bound to the Geas of Indenture. This gives us a way to do the thing we sacrificed so much for and grants much-needed respite to the Cursebearer. The best option in the long run, far outweighing any companion on offer, even Prolessarch.
Yeah, I finally decided I like this most among the options. It may not have the waifu but it's the only one I feel like fits the theme best. It also has the Relinquishment, the best Remittance Rihaku ever gave out among all of his quests in my opinion. In IC, I chalk it to Accursed giving it because he likes our hero.
This plan also has the colors I like.

That's right. Vote for the Max Avenger option! Nothing will distort the purity of our purpose, neither friends nor waifus. It even comes with paid vacation time, unlike those other inferior options that would have you work yourself to the bone for free.

It also fits your avatar all too well.

Poor mecha anime, I hardly new ye.

Still, quite happy with this build.

All things considered, would not be very unhappy if the murderhobo build won even if it came at the cost of sweet Praxis buildvotes. I wonder what a power optimized to grow alongside Accretion and Hunger would look like-- perhaps a more straightforward enhancement of physical parameters to fill in the gaps left behind by Accretion's more esoteric symbiosis (and make active conflict less dangerous) or maybe a way to levy our metaphysical might in more versatile and utile ways.

Jokes aside, this guy lost all of his companions one by one and thirsting for vengeance. I don't think he would choose companions rather than taking all the burden, less risk of them dying...like....before.... *Insert Nam tier flashbacks"
Plus while I would like to take the Retinue, I am the guy who supported Freedom path for that kind of shit, it's just diluting our personal progression unless we are lucky enough to have a synergy of companions that give more than 25% boost to our training, each.

But the biggest problem I have with the all the Waifu + Retinue comes is that, it's passing up the Relinquishment! Something I can't believe in that it only takes 1 slot! Not even Cursebearers stronger than Nameless millions of times can get that if they didn't choose it at the start or have ton of Accursed Favor (even then it's probably one time deal of one week rather than our godly 1 Week for every decade deal!) They would destroy entire universes just for one day of it!

You can even stack it!

I wonder if our character will in the end try to get back his old companions and child, or if they will be forgotten with the ceaseless escalation that are his curses.

This needs the word "plan" in front of it if you're gonna vote for it, folks. The tally program doesn't count it right otherwise.

[ ] Ceathlynn "Catherine" of Amarlt

Physical *****
Social * / ***
Mental **

Considered a failed prototype in the Amarlt family's disavowed eugenic super-soldier program, Catherine was relegated to the role of a lab assistant in the Astral Exploratory of her nominal House. A high-energy rift experiment gone wrong displaced her in space and time. Hurled centuries into the future, she is now the sole pureblooded inheritor of the Amarlt lineage, the main branch having long consumed itself in a fiery internecine war.

Though she possesses peak human reflexes, agility, kinesthetic sense, bodily coordination and melee combat skills, lacking any supernatural abilities she is little more effective than most humans against soldiers armed with guns. However, virtually any form of supernatural augmentation or equipment would act as powerful force multipliers for her. For example, she has an astonishing talent for piloting advanced weapons systems. Reserved and timid, she has not yet found her self-confidence in social situations, though she displays implacable will in the pursuit of any mission assigned.
The main thing I find against this is.. is that all those skills (melee ability, kinesthetic sense, etc), didn't Seram cultivate them in like, a month? Fundamentally, what stops us from just out-escalating the Hidden Masters like Nameless did with the Fates?

Well, he'll come back to get back at his enemies at the very least. And probably have the opportunity to resurrect them all, given the power levels involved.

Whether he does or where he goes from there no one can say, all we know is that he'll likely be quite a different man than the one that set off on this journey. But such is life.

Are you questioning a Heroine's ability to escalate? Especially when equipped with a mecha.

Only one System of Prodigious power given Kings Scepter as opposed to 3? Also, until we get prosthetics suitable for a progression type cursebearer or our health restored so we aren't old healthwise, missing an eye/arm/lung part, we have an inferior baseline compared to Catherine or Seram, making it a better choice to use King's Scepter level seals on her for Physical focused scenarios. Second, we are a possibly fallen prodigy at seven seals, it has not been established we are a prodigy at anything else. I'm getting from that if we Retinue her assuming we don't want to take hunger she will probably exceed us for a long time in physical subjects.

Rihaku's mentions of Catherine's lategame relevance and the sole pureblooded inheritor thing are bringing a Rihakuverse analog to Escaflowne to mind(Escaflowne).

I realized that in spite of the curse mitigation opportunities, there's probably more room to search for synergies with Catherine's affinity(Competitive with ours per word of Rihaku) if we awaken it compared to a set of countermagic powers.

From somebody who read Umineko, I get the feeling Lambdadelta's speech about surviving Logic Errors is relevant here. I don't think we want our hate to be the only thing we have left.

Here's a link to a Deviantart comic depicting the speech in question.

Plus without any immediate curse mitigation prospects the hero is letting Decimator's affliction freely target the world.

Edit2: On another note: Hate is exhausting, and given Doom of the Tyrant and Decimator's Affliction, we may have a lot of difficulty meeting people compatible with us who would still willingly associate with us if we don't get any companions now.

While I don't believe (or vote for) him to be anti social edgelord, I think I will vote to refrain from taking companions before the vengeance is complete.
Which is not that hard, as long as we don't die (which we will not if we take the Specter), the vengeance is 99.9% certain. Afterwards, we will live with the choices we made but we can become an OP being while not living as well as Nameless, is still having a great time. Especially if we choose Relinquishment.
We will probably still die to Geas/Apocryphal combo in the long run but it isn't really something we need to worry for the purposes of the quest.
*To be clear, while the hero will be obsessed with vengeance and consider it his foremost priority (can you blame him?), he will still be a functional human being capable of making human connections. This option will not turn him into a caricature.
