I will admit, i was a bit confused over your quoted line there. How exactly did it give you "write-and-delete" issues, Shwaggy?
Quite literally, I'd start writing out my thoughts, realize it didn't come out quite right, delete it and start again. After a few iterations I decided to just say that that was happening and hope I could settle it down to actual words later.

I know we had one just recently, but here we go anyways:

I wonder why it didn't do justinkal's vote

How did you manage to get the correct tally in? I thought i found it earlier in the edit section, but it came out wrong?

[X] Iris

I think everyone in the solar system felt that one. I want to know if our one and only semi-human AGI did. That she's probably more upset than ever is... well, it's not a bonus, but it isn't something I want to just ignore, either.

In months and years to come you'd wonder if you could have done anything else
Only destruction would suffice.

There was only light.

Well, there goes the outer solar system. Pity, it could still have been some use.

[X] Iris

Because she should have the broadest field of view, being an AI connected with all the fleet sensors, and at the same time she should have no way of knowing if Amanda is ok.

All in all, as much as this is going to suck fractally.
Letting evil get their way just because it'd be easier for you is disgusting.

And the Shiplords are arguably one of the most evil species I've seen in science fiction to date. Even the good they do seems entirely unintentional because they're busy trying to club the universe into fitting their own interpretation of what is Necessary, and yet they have nigh omnipotence in the physical realm and seeming immunity from consequences from ge...

...

That's why, isn't it? Huh.
Is that why the Uninvolved can't deal with them?
The dark magic they use is incredibly effective against them? "You can't fully project yourself here, but our power can reach up and strangle you if we must."
Hmm......Of possible relevance:
"It's the alert status, isn't it." His tone sounded about as irritated as you felt. The alert notification had come out two years ago, and a few of the more learned members of the crew had voiced some interest as to the lack of an immediate response. Normally when a race went poking around sufficiently to trigger a sector alert, it was easy to track them down. This was taking longer, but your race was nothing if not patient. Those responsible would be found, and their debts would be settled in full. After talking to Lijthe, however, your Captain had to know there was more to your call than that. A test, then; this was the first third stage failure to return to cross your board.
"We also," you continued, stopping the question you were almost certain Peros was about to ask, "have up to date information on their fleet deployments that would make their interference here impossible without a vast increase in the efficiency of their stardrive. I placed a call with a colleague in Fleet Intelligence and he was able to confirm that. And the only other avenue for interference?" You signalled a firm negative. "If they were to interfere, it wouldn't be restricted like this."
The handful of minnows vanished into the dark, followed moments later by the last two of their shoal and the presence that had hovered around the suddenly active space in the vast emptiness between stars stirred. They were so far from their homes, heading even further away from them in pursuit of…was it really hope?

The presence rippled in the Void between, stretching out to track their path, then reaching towards others that shared the endless Space. Could there be that possibility again, after so long. As it waited for the others to respond, it wondered itself. It would have to be one of the younger ones, if they took the chance at all, but maybe.

Ah, there they were, but my some of them looked dusty. It had been so very, very long after all, and by their standards too. But there were things to do now, and as the shoal of sparkling minnows slipped ever onwards, the presence began to speak.
As the one who'd found the curiosity, it was expected that you would support opening it, yet you were conflicted. The blossoms of the six growths that had come together aboard you so many times were a regular source of mass, but for something to be brought and then left for the purge meant that its contents were seen as deathly dangerous. Maybe even something to do with the lost ones, but how the younger ones could have found that data…was a matter for another time.
The ability of Practice to effectively 'turn back the clock' was something that had only been touched upon in studies, mainly due to the lack of available data. The Miracle of Skylark happened, that is undeniable. But how it happened remains beyond the ability of science to explain. More than one scientist has convinced themselves that that Miracle had been a singular event. Worth study at some point in the future, but on its own a simple anomaly. There have always been more important things to do than investigate those anomalies in Practice, as other work could be replicated. But now Vega had done it for a second time, revealing some doors that were legitimately terrifying to consider.
And raising an old question once more. Given time to grow, what might Potentials be truly capable of?
Elsewhere, Nondefined
They came between and about, following the call that had been borne across your shared reality. An echo of the memory that you'd witnessed, carried by fellows to all who could listen.
Thought formed between you all, making the questions real. They cut, cold and biting against you. Demanding to know for what purpose you had kept a memory of a world that could not be your concern. What could be worth such danger, such distraction? There were tasks better set, for those of the middle. This was not one of them. Why then listen? To that, the answer was simple.
Find a moment, called the Gathering. To watch and act would be yours, but it must be done with care. Acceptance was no choice, only certainty as you'd wished it. What more could there be but that?
Find a moment. You would learn when.
Then act.
CONCLUSION
Shiplords are basically Stargate Ori. Or Vorlons, take your pick.
And in staying behind, retained a type advantage against other Ascended.
Guess it would make the shroom guys Shadows.

Hun, I hadn't expected a Babylon 5 comparison. Though the Ori one is a bit odd, since the ori were more about religious worship. where do you get the comparison tor that uju?
