Peril's Origin - A Magical Girl Quest [Complete]

Two things:
  1. Given you got exp for meeting your first Nightmare, it's probably not an Angel.
  2. Are y'all seriously trying to intercept Razormist McShadowtendrils with your completely normal, not-intercept-capable sword?

My uneducated guess is that we might be up against a war angel with some kind of illusion over it tough I could be wrong.
The base damage Matches If it is a war angel we need to tell our friend to back off. I'm really thankful for the Leyline-Conducted Damping
+145xp 'Met' Your First Nightmare
Yeah that's not an Angel that's a capital 'N' Nightmare.

[X] Crystalwatcher's Anti Hype
-Cast Argent Star
--Yell at everyone to aim at the balls chasin the wutssit.
-(Optional) Play Yakkity Sax as everyone tries blasting the balls chasing the wutssit.

Edit: Here's the informational post on them. This is almost certainly a lesser Nightmare and hopefully its a lone wolf and not subordinate to a Greater Nightmare. Also would we know in character that this is a Nightmare?

[X] We are going to die, aren't we?

Why spend EXP on High-Speed Combat? What is it likely to accomplish here or in the future? Does your preferred plan rely on having better reactions?

I want that EXP to be open for other things, like Defiant Streak

On a more direct nitpick: Can you have Defiance try blasting it first? Give the attack/reactions better priority than yakking with the legionnaire. We've already gotten cut in twain for trying to talk out of a situation when we should have been swinging blades or slinging spells.

Side note, my plan may be an obvious joke, but there is something of a hint in it.

Can't you just '-[] XP PLAN save it' to negate my plan?

How about this then?
-The wording of supremacy makes it seem temporary. I hope that Abrade acts as some aspirin.
-I am mainly sending Mayas husband away for safety. And I think that dark stars might have the best change of also seeing it.

[X] Are we going to die?
-[X] Try Stab it with reapers will,
--[X] change weapons when appropriate
--[X] Scream to Mayas sweetheart that he needs to raise the alarm and run towards the Darkstars.
--[X] Cast Argent Star whenever it tries to approach another opponent
--[X] Try to break its defenses

[X] EXP-Plan Save it

Actually y'know what, I'll have mercy and give you guys a hint: Spookyboi here is not invisible. What he has going on is a type of mental interference, which means that if you try to treat him like he's just invisible in your plan, chances are better than not something will go wrong.

-Headache + ? (Everyone else, can not tell where ??? is or what ??? does)

That narrows it down to.
Sanity Damage, Perception control or if we are unlucky Perception overwrite.
Are what I can find that matches the description.

Does anybody have a plan for how to deal with those?

Their gazes hitch momentarily whenever they pass it, but move on as if nothing was there.

They notice it, but immediately seem to forget it.

the rest of you barely noticing how Maya's husband draws a gladius.

His perspective: He was talking with us. then Serius head had no body.
Trying to telling him about the creature might not go well.

It might not think that we know....

I will be AFK soon, If anybody can think of better plan or Finnish this one that would be appreciated.

this is where I am at:

[X] plan I didn't see that
-[X] act as if you are under the same effect as everybody else
--[X] Hide reapers will in off mode
-[X] If it falls for the act
--[X] try to 'just happen' to be close to it
--[X] Surprise it by stabbing it
--[X] Get as many hits in as possible in the shortest amount of time.
-[X] If the nightmare it does not fall for the act
--[X] Scream to Mayas sweetheart that he should get Maya to figure it out
--[X] Cast Argent Star whenever it tries to approach another opponent
--[X] Try to cut of body-parts to see if the effect lingers on things unattached.
--[X] Switch weapons where appropriate

Does anybody have improvements on 'plan I didn't see that'
I'm still editing it.

I am not really happy with it yet, but I think it would be a nice one if we can pull it off.

It does look like a good plan, and I'll support it as long as the vote doesn't get locked between finalization and the next time I check on the thread. Sadly I can offer no help as I can't even pretend to myself I get the combat system mechanics well enough to try.

Welp.

A few things about the chapter I liked:
1) I was amused by Heidi's decision to never question the source of Maya-given milk ever :)
2) I was impressed how Heidi now (and for some time already) can run up and down on walls. Makes her mobility advantage that much better.
3) I was briefly reminded of the Iliad Quest meme of not training Blessings when Heidi was studying Brandcraft for her squad.
4) I am slightly worried that the hooded cloak figure (aka the Nightmare) may turn out to be the Lesser Nightmare known as Death. I think those were considered OP but not actively hostile unless someone actively fearing death was nearby, and Sirius the Fairy was clearly terrified before the Nightmare appeared.
5) I surmise, @Naron, that Defy the Rules isn't strictly limited to those specific "can't do THIS" effects like Invisible, Intangible etc, and may also have a similar effect on Personal Abilities of a similar sort?

On a side note, we seem to be running into "choices have consequences" theme here, specifically "choices have unintended and unforeseen consequences". Our choice to not visit Sirius previously may or may not have contributed to him suffering the panic attack sufficient to attract the Lesser Nightmare at the worst possible time - but equally that event may have been scripted in the first place, and now we're just having to deal with it in a different place and time. Previous time this visibly happened, we focused on removing active threats to us and got one of Maya's children killed.

EDIT: The vote tally is an utter mess for me that doesn't count my vote. Anyone else have this problem???

I think that may be because I put too many plans without really thinking, Maybe I should wait/ask for more information next time around.

I shall activate the.
[] plan I didn't see that

It does not often trigger on personal Abilities, but some do fall into the realm of things it works against.
That aside, the wallrunning is a part of Inhuman Agility not specifically mentioned in the mechanics.
Also, misinformation about the Lesser Nightmare Death; it does not attack anyone fearing death, but anyone who by all acounts should have died (while it was watching?).

The plan you are voting for is not actually logged in because the creator has not put any X in the brackets.

Fixed it.
Before I make any more goofs, Are there any manuals on the tally system? I hoped that a inactive plan could be activated by just voting for it in a following post.

So, Death specifically goes to hunt people who had a save-from-death trigger? Possibly going after people saved by a different triggered ability (end damage reduction, or perhaps Paoras' lethal damage negation on a massively overwhelming hit)?

As for the plan - I changed to the name of the creator instead. And said person had their name in the tally already, their vote clearly visible. Maybe changed since then, don't know.

The general guidelines you need is that the tally system only counts your latest vote, voting for an account name automatically assumes you vote for all of their voted actions, and voting for a plan name automatically assumes you vote for anything in that plan.

If this actually is Death (the Lesser Nightmare) the most we'll be able to manage is flailing uselessly at it before it starts killing people. Main reason why is because Actual Death is full up on instant death and autokill effects.

Good news though is that they're pretty chill and wouldn't be here unless it decided the elf guy legit was supposed to be dead, but if that was so it wouldn't have waited several weeks.

So not Death.

So is Death the Lesser Nightmare the kind of guy who would have something with specs like this?

Base Damage: N/A
Magic Modifier: N/A
Ability: Sudden Death | Auto Kill

Not enough Death. Some people have immunity to instant kills.

It should have also a Scale to Target, Kill by Modifier (both damage and MM keyed to target's total defense) and Auto Max Charge, for more encompassing effort.

Unerring optional for "not killing the wrong guy accidentally".

Sudden Death | Auto Kill on an attack that has no way to deal numerical damage ignores immunities to Auto Kill, even "I am a higher order existence" (unless the target has a Death related affinity too).
