Sort of. The People view themselves as being more civilised and advanced than their neighbours and they are honestly the latter given the collapse of any rivals in the region that could contest that belief. And while they view themselves as being morally superior to the 'barbarians' with their lack of violence, being more accepting of people and worship towards the Arthrynite goddesses, the People do hold a lot of respect for the 'barbarian' ability to wage war.

So while there is a lot of pride and superiority going on, it is more believing that their culture is better than believing that they are born better, something you can thank Born Equal for. Thanks to Born Equal, the People are perfectly happy to accept outsiders into the People even if they strongly encourage immigrants to abandon their old barbaric culture and embrace the civilised culture of the People. So it is less 'We are inherently better than you' and more 'We choose to be better than you' which still kind of sucks, but isn't too much worse than modern day people in First World Democracies looking down upon Third World Dictatorships.

Basically regular hubris that has basis in fact at the moment.
It is still a level of hubris that I believe was amplified greatly through the legacy that was picked, and is overall rather foolish to hold considering that we barely know of our surroundings.

Just because it's not truly horrible does not mean that it is good.

[X] Try to engage them in trade to offer them aid in a manner which won't offend them.

It might not be good, but it also isn't that bad, especially with that super fancy innovation roll it comes with.

[X] Try to get their secrets of wolf-taming and giant boar-riding from them.

Ehh if they want a war we will give them a war, this time we should either Chase them out of their lands and thus banishing them back to their old territories.

I do not want to deal with these guys being fools about it, no more helping but damn well insuring we can take them apart if need be.
They don't want war with us immediately though? They have traits related to denying aid from outsiders to stand strong. It is the players who chose to try an easy way to gain their adoration, because for some reason leaving them disloyal and weak was seen as a bad thing.

A disloyal vassal means they stab you in the back at the worst possible time.

Either we responsibly manage our vassals or don't get one.

How do you guys supposed that they will teach us the secret to animal domestication if they are unfriendly to us in the first place?

A disloyal vassal can become a loyal one through time, effort, and understanding.
That is why I am voting to better understand their social and cultural mores, instead of the other options of:
Try to still stuff from people who hate you
Try to convert people who hate you as a semi-militant religious civilization
Let the people who hate you stew in their hatred.

The Legacy didn't amplified it, it just made a sentiment that had been able over the last several or update clarified into something tangible due to the fact you being the only civ that made it through the regional collapse intact. The beliefs you have picked up upon would have still existed amongst the People even if you didn't pick that Legacy.

[X] Attempt to convert them to the ways of Arthryn and her Daughters.
[X] Try to get their secrets of wolf-taming and giant boar-riding from them.

Lets do something. Its not like we can make them angrier then they are right now.
Either we Arthryn Vult all over their culture or extract the tech we want and get ready to kneecap them when they get uppity.

So trade is a bad idea because we have better tech?

The riding tech they have to hand out would turn us into raiding thieves.

The religion try might work narative-wise, but suffer from refusal.

Leaving them alone might be for the best.

We shall beat it out of them! All their knowledge belongs to us, it is our divine right for sharin our superior civilization with those ungrateful savages! /s

We could try this wonderful thing called interacting with and understand different cultures, instead of resigning ourselves to a holy war or rebellion.
There is literally an option to attempt to better understand them and how not to offend them through culture clashes.

There is no need to understand filthy barbaroi, they are inferior and thus not worthy of our time and effort!

Actually, the People do consider the barbarians worthy of being considered and understood and would happily accept one into the People, especially if they were willingly to give up their old culture and embrace the culture of the People.

If the barbarians are peaceful, the People are perfectly fine interacting with them even if they disdain their way of life as being inferior.

Violation of Rule 2 - use of 'retard' as slur/pejorative
[X] Try to get their secrets of wolf-taming and giant boar-riding from them.

So let me get this straight. Not only are they angry at us for saving them from Urth even though they attacked us, they also don't like the fact that we are trying to help them rebuild by giving them food, help, and other things, but they take the help we give them, scowling all the while like we are performing some great crime, and are actively using the resources we are giving them to eventually tell us we can go fuck ourselves?

.........pfft........pffthahaHAHAHAHAHA!! Oh yeah, these retards can get bent. we are taking what we want from them and if they have an issue with it they can say it to our face and be summeraly ignored. They want to pick a fight afterwards? It's their funeral.
