Embrace of Divinity Triggers
Roaring Heaven Health: 1)
I have to say, this is hilarious AND fortunate that we tested it on an opponent with extra lives.

Chunky salsa incidents are too traumatic
You sigh inwardly over the fact that Gaia did not lie, but most likely withheld that information on purpose; your eyes never leave either the map or Ming, though. Her gaze is mostly curious as she looks your way again. "Would you have any idea as to why this detail was not given?"

""Our sources are mean and do that kind of thing.""
Part and parcel of being political.
Then there is tapping outside and the door swings open with a protesting squeak while an excited voice calls out: "Look what I found!"

This is a voice you already know, which has no business being behind you. It is followed by an all-too-familiar yip on top of it. When you all turn around, there stands... Forsaken God, another one. With Ludger in her arms.

What?

Your thought process turns into a loop of this one question for a long moment as everyone just stares at each other. A lot more light comes in from the outside and gives you enough illumination to see things properly. Forsaken God, the one sitting in front of you, is blushing a deep scarlet. The same colour slowly fills the other one's cheeks as she turns to look. "Oh... um... is this a bad time? I'll just- hey, wait!"

That is when Ludger wiggles himself out of her grasp and bounces over to sit with you. "Woof!"

"Oh..."
Knew bringing Ludger on a diplomatic mission is a winning action.
Ming nods with renewed grace and sits down again. "A pleasure, you three... two, I mean. It is difficult to wrap my head around your magic... say, can you forcibly include anyone into your hive mind?"

Her question is unexpected and gives you pause for long moments. Ana's surprise courses through your mind as well, though you are occupied making sense of something so absurd. You never even thought about doing something like this, the mere idea sounding ridiculous to you. Still, it takes a moment of disbelieving stares before you actually have a proper response to give: "Maybe, but I don't want that." "I won't share my mind with anyone I don't love."

Ana freezes up for a moment, but you just smother her in warmth before she can start getting emotional; she always gets a little weird when you say it out loud.
When you put it like that it sounds a lot like a confession.
I'm not sure if that's a good idea. Ana cannot obtain Absolute Connection, and when Sun and Moon got Complete Connection they started having all that confusion about who is who until they got one more tier. I don't think I want Ana to get stuck in that state.
Hmm, probably want some clarification on that since Ana appears to be much more coherent than Priscilla was at that point in time.
We could Connect Hero first while we decide?

This is supposed to be cast by the body who will stop existing, right? If that's the case, does it really need a previous non-existent "Target Self" ability (which based on things like Clone-Self and Boost-Self should probably be written as "Target-Self")?

If the body that stops existing is the one who casts, then its not really targeting herself. If the body that continues existing is the one who casts, then Kamikaze doesn't fit since the caster doesn't die.

If just the body that dies casts the spell, I would probably have gone with either "Ability: Kamikaze" or "Ability: Kamikaze | Boost-Other". If just the body that survives casts the spell, I probably would have gone with either "Ability: Assimilate" or "Ability: Assimilate | Auto Kill".

Like this it just looks weird because Kamikaze by definition targets yourself and the one doing the assimilating is not the one doing the dying.
So if one instance spends EXP, do all the other instances instantly gain the level ups despite not knowing why they got them? Or is there a caveat like
  • Cannot spend EXP if more than one instance exists.
  • When new instances are created, all previously accumulated EXP stays with the original instance. EXP obtained by additional instances does not get added to the original body until Communion is used.
This would have been fun if we brought Budding Flower along :V
No comment on anomalies in the sheet.

Communion is a very weird thing because it kills Forsaken God (Kamikaze), takes that same Forsaken God's diverging memories (Assimilate) and stuffs them into Forsaken God (Target Self). It is cast by the body that vanishes.

Forsaken God's numbers increase if any of her buys something. Each one is the same person anyway, so what one wants is usually what all of them want.

Yes, Flower would have been an amusing companion to have here. Especially with Flowey... though Cthulhu and Godzilla would have had to stay home.
...yes, someone had the idea to give her a lizard during the time skip. No, that someone is not regretting her actions in the slightest.

[X] Practice and spar to get a better grasp of your new strength; you will get rusty if you do not keep it up.
[X] Save it

Well, that was a nice update! It'd probably be a good idea to focus on practicing though. I'd prefer not to injure or kill anyone during what's supposed to be a friendly spar accidentally.

Gotta get a handle on this new power so we can stay non-lethal against regular foes.

I feel bad that Ana is getting left in the dust so much, but I just can't justify spending any EXP on most of her things because she Can't Catch Up with Pris on raw numbers and her non-Connection shop items aren't exactly helpful (one doesn't gel with "non-lethal" and the other is only useful when Ana is too far away from Moon to be protected by Mistress of the Tide).

For that reason, I want to give a small upgrade to her useful party support ability. If we're lucky, leveling it a little bit might even unlock a shop item that makes it give less vague info.

[X] Upgrade Life Sense 3 -> 5 (70 EXP)

Strength why did you do this?

Anyway, have Godzilla. He is now added to Budding Flower's creatures.
I also made some adjustments to the others, mainly their Affinities. Cthulhu got another Ability, though.

As much fun as sparring is, we're trying to get an alliance going here; we should know the people.

Edit: True, we did just make that big ability purchase; may as well make sure we know what we can do.

On one hand, yes. On other hand, we don't want accidents.

And on the topic of including Julia/Brave Heart in the Harmonious Hive (@veekie). My response would probably be "not in the course of this quest", for three reasons:
1) She lacks the sentimental weight Ana had for me.
2) We have a limited party size, and I want to see Ludger become even more awesome so she or Ana or Ludger will be left out.
3) And the [Greed] and guilt-tripping done by Ana getting "useless again +1" EXP during the mission make me averse to leaving members of the Hive out of missions

I have no special aversion to giving her an opening. I just don't want to pay the price in EXP and possible guilt-tripping.
Even if she is an awesome combatant with excellent synergy with the Twins (who can synchro-whack-boost her to rather impressive heights, ~180k, via Absorbing Aegis).

Not immediately. But after getting to know her better(rather than just her stat sheet anyway).
We won't take someone we don't love.

That was not something which happens in general. Ana still has a delicate psyche despite everything, with only your actions having prevented it from deterioriating.

That aside,
But after getting to know her better(rather than just her stat sheet anyway).
the sisters did get to know Julia during the time skip. I will expand on this after you finish the mission.

Ah... Ok. Truly, our choice to make Ana our sister is a true blessing for her.

Though, didn't Julia complain (or something to that manner) about having little to do but train every day?

Consider her position as the Former Enemy for many of the girls in base. She doesn't really know when or how to reach out after she's done so much to try to draft them into the army by force.

She did. Her own routine consisted of four hours of training every day, even though she does no longer get much better. She already cut it down to two hours because she was pushed into school.

That is another reason. Even though others may be willing to talk to her and be friends, she does not consider it acceptable after her own deeds.

In fact, Julia did confess to Pris that she would like to get a chance to redeem herself through action. Words are not really her strength, so she will patiently wait for an opportunity. Only then will she actively reach out to others.

And of course, as Pris proves...you don't really get opportunities if all you do is sit by yourself waiting for the Right Time. You have to go out and talk to people to know where and when you might intervene!

So, nobody else wants to improve Ana's ability to detect enemies before they can attack us? Upgrading that from 300m to 500m is pretty significant and only costs 70 EXP.

Not like there's much else we can do for her that improves her ability to be useful in combat. Complete Connection would upgrade her synchronization bonus, but it will pretty much always be cheaper to get just as much damage by sticking a level on one of Pris's weapons.

That ability to detect approaching enemies also synergizes well with the connection. She can send a feeling of Danger when she detects something.

The problem is, she has already told us on this mission that her head hurts from so many valid targets in range, when we were in the village.

While improving the Connection might give her access to bandwidth to offload the burden even as it opens her up to mental messaging, improving her Life Sense is actually something of a debuff in this situation.

That depends. It could just be that the density is what's causing problems, and that higher level also improves her ability to process it.

Like how gaining tons of attacks per turn from leveling up a weapon makes you able to handle actually doing stuff that quickly.

Leveling up an ability does not normally harm you, and I doubt Naron would throw something like that at us.
