[X] No you can't say that! Storm out of the classroom and go find somewhere to be alone.
-----
You can feel your tail fluffing out and every muscle in your body seems suddenly tense. You're practically seeing red as you stare across the desk at Mari for a moment, trembling. You want to yell and scream and maybe just tell her that this is all a mistake and you just said you liked Jesse so that
she would leave you alone about boys so you could stop thinking about how
weird you are. But the words don't rise to your lips. You can't say that. Admitting that would just make things worse. So instead you just whirl around and hurtle out of the class room, slamming the door shut behind you. As you go, you can hear the murmur of startled conversation starting already as the other students notice your dramatic exit. You can worry about that later, though.
Once you're out of the classroom you run, angry tears starting to spring into your eyes. You don't know where you're going exactly but you want to get away from the classroom and away from Mari in case she tries to follow you. So you run. Down the corridor, down the stairs. You don't really know how but you find yourself outside, shoved in against some hidden corner of the building where you think no one is going to find you.
Slumping down, you start to cry in earnest. Shoulders shake in heavy sobs and fat, unhappy tears run down your face as you let out your anger and frustration and the sick feeling in the pit of your stomach that has dogged you for
so long. Why can't people leave well enough alone? Why aren't you
normal? Why can't you just like a boy like all the other girls you know? Why--?
"You look like you're having a bad time." A voice breaks in on your roiling, unhappy feelings. You look up, face already flushed from crying. Oh. It's the girl you ran into last week--Akane. She's peering down at you wearing a rumpled blazer and her short hair still managing to fall across her eyes. There's a watering can dangling from one of her hands and you half-realize that you've chosen the school's garden to cry in.
"Are you okay?"
Well. Are you okay?
