A Catgirl's Last Chance for High School Romance - COMPLETE

Life can be confusing. Especially when you're a teenager and still figuring out all sorts of things about yourself, your peers, and life in general. But that's what high school is supposed to be for, right? A place to discover who you really are and prepare yourself for adult life. So let's do that.

The year is 202X. Kemonomimi people like yourself aren't uncommon and in fact they are a growing minority! Your people have become well integrated into "normal" human society. In fact, you grew up in this city and know it well. It's a pleasant place, warm in the summer, cold in the winter, and sitting near the coast and backed with steep mountains inland. You are a catgirl going to Central Senior High School. Your school is a co-ed institution and you've had a pretty uneventful school life so far with the usual sorts of activities, pitfalls, and troubles.

Unlike your childhood friend Mari, who's had a boyfriend since middle school, no one has really caught your eye when it comes to romance. You've had some boys confess to you, but none of them really seemed to click with you and you turned them down. Now as the third year of school begins, you're about to figure out why that was exactly.

Welcome to A Catgirl's Last Chance for High School Romance quest! This is my first quest ever as a QM/writer so I hope you'll enjoy it and please bear with me as I settle into and get used to questing. This is meant to be a fairly light-hearted but there will be bouts of drama and angst. My main inspirations for this quest are Kase-san and Morning Glories, Sweet Blue Flowers, and Shimanami Tasogare. I'd like this to quest also explore LGBT themes, including the closet.

I want to put down a couple ground rules before we start!

First, when it comes to writing in actions and so forth, remember that you're supposed to be in the mindset of a teenage girl in her last year of secondary education. I'm not saying you shouldn't propose or do outrageous things, but rather remember to stay in character in your thoughts and actions.

Second, this is not going to involve anything more adult than hand holding, kissing, or possibly making out. Please refrain from presenting any options in the vein of "ecchi" or other sorts of adult material.

Third, have fun! I really hope you enjoy this story and the quest. ^_^

It is Monday, April 1st.
Your name is Hanako Mikuru! You used to get teased when you were a kid because you'd mispronounce it as Hanyako. These days that's not an issue, except maybe when you're really, really nervous. You come from a solidly middle-class family where your mother works a corporate job and your father works from home as a freelance architect. He also does most of the cooking. Today is the first day of the new school year. The April sun is shining, cherry blossoms are in bloom, and you're on your way to school. You're supposed to meet your friend, Mari Amano , at the train station and walk the rest of the way to school together.

It's an exciting day, especially considering that you're now a third year in high school, seventeen, and on the verge of graduating into the adult world (though you're thinking of university and your parents are encouraging you to apply). As you sit on the train, feeling the motion of the travel, you reflect back on your previous years at school. It seems like it's gone by so fast. Especially all your time… doing what?

What club were you in again?

[ ] Outdoor Activities Club - Mari, your childhood friend, is in this club and she convinced you to join too. You mostly do a lot of hiking in the hills and mountains around the edge of the town but you also do some rock-climbing and camping.
[ ] Literature Club - You like books and reading, so this was a good choice. This club mostly focuses on reading and discussing books as well as sharing original writing.
[ ] Music Club - You've always been interested in making, playing, and listening to music. In fact, you play the piano quite beautifully.
