How do you tally votes?

... You realize this entire thing is inline with my argument overall, not against it, yes?Additionally, Jaune doesn't KNOW Ironwood, certainly not well enough to identify him from this. So even if it is him, that's an insane amount of metagaming and not a valid argument.
With Weiss, she's a famous person, roughly Jaune's age, who Jaune recognized, and who was clearly assuming Jaune was some kind of burglar-cum-stalker and was reacting to that assumption.
With this individual it's an as-yet-unidentified individual whose first interaction with Jaune was very casually threatening to murder him if he makes a wrong move, and is clearly acting in a calculated fashion.
One of these things is significantly more threatening than the other. This is not a situation where one might make a different decision as to talking based on what the threatener's naughty bits are.

Fair point. Honestly the antagonizing him is probably annoying me more than it should, because of two things.
For one, it speaks to a trend in both quest participants and RPG players that I've noticed. Nobody ever wants to play scared. Players always want to "win" every situation, and so they'll do incredibly foolish things out of a weird and misplaced sense of specialness and bravado. And they often get away with it in quests because very few QMs are willing to kill the players for it, as that ends the quest.
For another it's inconsistent. We spilled our guts to Weiss. But now, the shady guy with a gun to our back, who already told us to cut the snark, we lip off to? Why? How on earth is this less scary than that?
Okay yeah, the leading vote actually being about snarking even when the guy warned us not to is one of the most idiotic and dumbass decisions ever made by players and trust me I've seen some really stupid decisions. In fact here is a list I made:
***********************************
"Hey let's fight this guy, to kill! He can take it and we were told to go all out in the fight(but nothing was said on killing)" Result didn't win(almost half the votes went to it) but if it had things would have escalated had the vote won and it is hinted that there was a good chnce we could have actually killed the guy.
"Hey lets split the party as we attack this enemy base even though the QM flat out said it was a terrible idea and we could do literally anything else!" Result vote won and word of QM said half our party could have died with what was basically a coin flip and that there blood would have been on the hands or our PC.
"Hey let's try to save this person by trying a completely made up technique that a voter just came up with instead of our already proven reliable technique!" Result vote won and our PC didn't ssave the girl and wound up in a coma, again, while stating that our standard healing technique could have worked.
"Hey lets pump our magic into literally the root of all evil in the world! (this was a write-in) Nothing can possibly go wrong!" Result things went very wrong.
"Hey let's try to make partnership with that guy known OOC to have severe chronic backstabbing disorder (while PC happens to really hate backstabbers) and after he tried to destroy the country of one of our friends just because he seems cool!" Result voters still want to work with the guy.
"Hey let's keep our eldritch powers even though there is most likely going to be severe consequences if we do!" Result the PCs city wound up getting attacked by an army of monsters while making a large part of the population extremely violent.
"Hey lets use our powers to make a deal with a powerful entity for power requiring a sacrifice instead of waiting for permanent power ups which we can do instead but are too impatient!" Result there is now a powerful entity
"Hey let's take our comrades into a battle they are definitely not ready for instead of running away even though we have a good chance of getting away while our people are highly likely to die if we went up against these guys!" Result vote won and we ended losing a few named characters that were close to our PC and the players liked with several questers quitting the quest over the decision.
"Hey lets tell this guy that can destroy cities by himself just by fighting where the person that he absolutely hates and wants to murder is at even though his hatred was a major part of his legend. It'll be absolutely hilarious!" Result PCs best friend winds up dead, the PCs sister is most likely next, a city is about to be destroyed and it's likely two kingdoms are about to go to war.
*******************************
Or to add another one:
Players: "Hey we have a gun to our backs and the guy doing it threatened to shoot us if we snark. Let's snark even though the QM outright told us that last time if we tried it we would have gotten literally stabbed through the throat and traumatized!"

That's what I made my vote for, but everyone ignored it.While I am in favor of the latest alteration to the "start recording and get ready" plan, I feel like I should remind that it very explicitly doesn't say what Jaune says/in what style he directly responds. Which it probably should.
[X] Record everything for future use.
[X] "I'm just here because a girl was lonely and needed a friend, I haven't done anything wrong."
[X] Try to calm down, this guy is (hopefully) bluffing and he (probably) won't do anything stupid in public.
[X] Admit to nothing and don't say anything incriminating.
[X] Have Blue and Bracket do anything they can think of. Call the cops, talk to Penny, hack this guy's scroll for something of use, call Weiss and see if the Heiress of the SDC can do anything to help.
[X] If all else fails, look to Penny. Blue made her sound like a good person, so she wouldn't let you get killed.
I suspect that a lot of people voting for the snark option has forgotten that @Prok is a QM with actual consequences for failure.
Remember, had the Penalty Roll and the Social Roll been reversed, we and Weiss would have been mutually traumatized to the point where we would have permanently lost her as a social link unless we'd ended up as teammates.
We have a gun pointed at us, please don't treat the situation as a joke.
A man with a gun pointed at our heart just told us to cut the snark.
So what does everybody do?
Try to snark more.
I believe I should clarify that I'm talking about the overwhelmingly popular "My AI asked your AI on a date" and "You won't shoot me" options.
Recording the conversation is smart. Very smart. Surreptitiously prepping Turn() if it's possible to do so stealthily is also very smart. Calling the family, maybe a good call maybe not, depending on if they panic and distract us at a critical moment. Maybe call our sister, not mom and dad.
Lipping off like a lot of people want to do? Not so smart.

Remember when I said to try pinging all the voters and try to convince them not to vote for snark? That's still an idea.
In fact, I'm just going to do it.
[X] "My AI asked your AI out on a date and since I can't be more then 100 meters away from its vessel without dying I had to come along."
Number of voters: 17

I have STRONG reservations against your choice of vote and ask you at least reconsider it.
Edit: Does this even alert them?
In my mind, he asked us to explain ourselves. The fact of the matter is our AI decided to ask another AI out on a date. If he was going to shoot at us for snarkily responding with the truth, he likely would have shot us already for being snarky at him. He knows we have an AI. What is happening is literally information he already has. He shouldn't ask a question he already knows the answer to.
Had he just decided to observe, he likely could have figured out what this meeting was originally without resorting to deaththreats.

Ah, damn. Really? Duly noted then.
[X] Say that you created an AI that wanted to meet another AI which is why you are here
I didn't think the vote was snarky as much as it was panicked, but I guess after reading it again it could be taken that way. Whatever, not that big a deal. Though we should probably tell him about our condition, so they don't end up killing us accidentally by taking the Transistor away @Red Bovine
