Ruby Haze is an experimental self-insert fic in which I take a schmuck (loosely based on myself) and put him through the gauntlet, Sonic the Hedgehog style! Our protagonist, the oddball everyman, is an outsider locked in and forced to face a new reality. He isn't powerless, instead finding himself with more power than he ever wanted.

So...I got into Kancolle (and by Kancolle I mean Kancolle fanfiction). And then my muse said "hey what if we jumped on this probably dead bandwagon and wrote something so we don't burn out on our main fic?" and I said "oh yeah that makes sense let's do that now."
This is the result. Abyssals. Shipgirls. General idiocy. And likely unhealthy amounts of alcohol.

Reincarnating into the wizarding world is nothing but surreal, and petty things such as shame and safety become easy to ignore. To Lyra and James all the world's a stage for fun and drama. Though, perhaps, they should not have looked behind the curtains. For as Dumbledore says, there are far worse things than death. (Double SI, powerful magic, no bashing, Lovecraftian divergence)
I didn't join the heroes becuase I cared about helping people or saving the day. I joined because the PRT offered me a check with more zeroes than I'd ever seen in my life. I joined because I knew what was going to happen to most villains, and I wanted to be on the winning side. I joined because I wanted people to chant my name and cheer for me. I joined because I wanted to be important.

Hey everyone, this is Hive. I recently poked around Carrier Command 2 in VR and the old Gaea Mission games. In combination with my KC fic binge I got inspired to write something. I was primarily inspired by some elements of the Lord K’s CV-44 story, but unlike the poor, poor Solomon Sea I plan to have way less psychological horror and more “daring survival against all odds”. Think more Bear Grylls and less Castaway. We’ll see how it goes, my exploratory writing can sometimes steer the story...
