A(n attempted) Study into Malice
Entry 1 (Malice Storm in 7 days)
This is a study into the strange feel of Malice on the wind. Detected from a long distance away. The Ants upon questioning informed me that this was an approaching storm of Malice, to be henceforth referred to as the Malice Storm. They have recommended that I construct a shelter in order to avoid damage but I believe that the time would be better spent preparing to study this new phenomenon. There is no way to access the powers of the sensing tree from this distance so I will attempt to gain the capabilities myself.

Entry 7 (Malice Storm in 4 days)
So far all attempts to acquire the skills and abilities of the Sensing Tree have failed due to compatibility issues. While the problems are not unsolvable they cannot be completed within the allotted timeframe. As the storm is approaching quickly I will instead outsource the required sensory requirements to a specially created plant, which shall be designated as a Sensing Bush. It will not have the same range as the Sensing Tree but that should not be a concern as the effects of the Malice Storm should be ubiquitous over the entire area. Some of the companions in my retinue (squirrels, corvids, ants, etc.) have expressed concerns about my plans for the storm, as such I have moved my experimental area to a more sheltered location near the Ant Colony, any of my retinue members unwilling to brave the Malice Storm with me have been encouraged to take shelter with the Ants.

Entry 15 (Malice Storm in 1 day)
The growth of the Sensing Bush is a success, already it can detect the increase of ambient Malice in the air. Arrangements have been made for the more fragile members of my retinue to sit out the storm with the ants and the preparations for experiments with Malice during the storm have been complete. The Ants have once again expressed concerns with my plans but as an Elder Tree my innate resilience and assorted magics should allow me to endure whatever damage I may sustain in the process. While sustaining damage in the process of progress is suboptimal what matters is that the while the damage is temporary, the progress isn't, at least that is the theory anyway. The storm front should hit tonight, I look forward to seeing it for real.
Entry 16 (Malice Storm 1st day)
The Malice Storm is more intense than I realised, already I have lost several branches to the effects. Already the data that I have acquired is more than worth the sacrifice, the storm seems to be draining all the colour and life out of the surroundings, other effects will require further observations but the results are already fascinating. Unfortunately the Sensing Bush appears to be withering under the onslaught of this weather, if this keeps up I may have to abandon my attempts at active experiments and pivot towards passive observation instead. The healing magic that I know should be up to the task of keeping us alive in any event though.
Entry 17 (Malice Storm 1st day)
All attempts at magical experimentation have been abandoned as the storm seems to intensify upon the use of magic, the Sensing Bush is suffering under the effects of the storm and I do not know how much longer it will last. As a last ditch effort I am willing to shelter it from the winds with my trunk as I heal it, taking the damage in it's place. The other experiments should be able to go ahead though I will have to heal the Sensing Bush after each one in order to ensure it's survival in these adverse conditions.
Entry 18 (Malice Storm 1st day)
All experiments are now being aborted. The Sensing Bush almost exploded during the last one, it is undergoing sensory overload and upon the use of healing magic upon it, the limb that channelled the power caught fire halfway though the casting process before detonating upon the completion of the spell. While I still have more limbs to sacrifice, the unknown duration of this storm has forced me to concede to getting us to shelter before I lose the rest of them.
Entry 19 (Malice Storm 1st day)
I have dug a hole in the ground for me and the Sensing Bush to shelter in for the duration of the Malice Storm, I was able to prevent the further detonation of my branches through the cycling of the active casting limb but all of them have sustained damage to the bark in the process. The Sensing Bush appears to be recovering slowly now that it is out from the worst of the storm, but it will only be able to collect passive data until I can finish healing it. In order to avoid wasting time I have grown a root with six limbs in order to ask the Ants on what data they have on such storms using their own language, with luck I won't screw up the translation.

Entry 38 (Malice Storm 8th day)
The Malice Storm has finally passed, while the data gathered during passive observation and from the Ants was indeed useful I still wish that I was able to experiment during the storm itself. The Sensing Bush has been a massive boon for this endeavour and should be useful for future ones. I have asked the Ants for a large basket in which I can carry it with me until such a time as I am able to turn it into an Epiphyte upon myself. The Sensing Bush will be a part of my retinue and until I can gain the capabilities of an Elder Sensing Tree shall remain there, perhaps even after I gain the capabilities. For now there have been interesting energy readings from the Ants and there is a curious connection between Monsters and Malice, and the storm has given us ample specimens to dissect at our leisure.

-[X] The storm didn't help the monsters, or did it? Did they change during it, if so, will they revert? Is the reason that they shelter as well similar to how trees don't like floods due to too much water? Let's cut apart a few and find out.
