Squirrel Sect [Stone age] [Riot Quest] [Squirrels Cultivating]

As he awoke, his goals where clear to him. A cause to dedicate his life for. He grabbed the discarded cap of the now-consumed acorn.

[X] Acorn hat creation

He will make hats, and nobody will stop him.

@Zedalb is it okay if I ask for you to infomark my accounting post since it tells everyone how much we have and which we could use more of? (and also for ease of future reference, both for me and others?)

[X] Search for Predators (Very Dangerous)
Twitch has always been... a fair bit curious. Despite their constant quest for Acorns-- they've never actually had to go very far from the grove of trees they frequent at least... until now that is. Perhaps the consequence of an abundance of curiosity in attempting to follow a squirrel with distinctive red fur-- they soon found themselves lost within the bounds of the forest. Shaking themselves free of a pile of leaves they'd fallen into-- driven to learn more about this unfamiliar land they've found themselves in, and desperate to find a way home-- Twitch ventures off into the unknown.

The Second Sunrise of the Squirrel Sect.
Squirrel Sect

As is the nature of squirrels the first thing they do is hoard. Gather resources Yet that focus on gathering teaches them much. They learn the hardness of wood and stone and the ease of manipulating each. With their own claws and teeth they can cut wood but it isn't easy or fast. Stone is hard enough that your claws and teeth can't cut it. You are going to have to learn to shape stone more effectively than grinding two rocks together. Still sharpened wood and stone are useful tools. Not much more useful than your claws but still better.

Food is gathered in a great mass but almost two thirds of everything gathered is eaten just as quickly. It is still progress that feeding yourselves today should be at least a little easier. If the trend stays like this you may gather enough to survive the coming winter.

For Qi you learn little but you have realized meditation is not enough. You need to eat one of the QI acorns and then spend the day meditating to try to advance this strange new energy inside you. You don't know how much work it will take to push the energy to a new level.

From leaves you learn to pull the strands and weave them into cloth. Rope and clothing is in your future even if it will take a lot of work.
Predators seem more hostile, more eager to hunt. You don't know why but something seems to have the entire forest agitated. Even the ants are waging great wars against each other. Something is the air and you are unsure what but you are sure that it means trouble.

(Pictured: Death)
@Bylba: The first scout. You did not know what would be of value but you knew that shiny thin strands called to you. Rushing up the tree you start to wrap it around your paw collecting the glossy material wondering what uses the sect may find. Which is when your leg started to burn. You kicked away the black many legged thing and ran. You had to limp as you ran. Yet you did bring back a new material for study. (Spider Silk Research will be available after Cordage mastery 1) Injury gained -3 to your d10 roll for 3 updates.

@NSchwerte: Death will come from the sky. Something has agitated the local owl population. Soon your tribe will need some form of protection or you will quickly lose members. (Less than 5 turns until the owls attack)

@Abyssius: A rotten log but filled with bugs. Food, easy to gather and transport. You will still need the tribe to bring it back but it will help greatly.

@MightbeaMimic: Is it luck to find nothing? Is it luck to not be found by a predator. You find nothing but you did not get eaten.

@BeepSmile: Of all the creatures of the forest squirrels have several that hunt them. Silent and swift you have just a brief vision of red and then teeth. The tribe loses a member, and if too many are lost it will be as well.

@Worm_that_Walks: How does it feel to fly? Free and in the sky you would have loved the experience if owl claws where not stabbing into you and holding you from escape. You are brought to the nest to feed it's young and then there is only pain and darkness.

@Oseanman: You return empty paw but uninjured. A victory in one way a defeat in another.

@Chopak: You watched a squirrel get eaten. It was looking for resources, a member of your sect. It is a red fox. Quick and nimble you see it for only a second but then it is gone running off in the underbrush.

@LotusPocus: You survived the owls hunting but in the dark you learned very little.

@The Bird @chellewalker: Bare pawed and without tools you do gather the mushrooms of death but you manage to poison yourselves as well. Injury gained -3 to your d10 roll for 3 updates.

@Cult of Scruples: One of the owls has Qi. You did not get a great look to tell it apart and your ability to sense KI is non-existent but you are fairly confident one of the Owls is awake the same way you all are.

@Uhtread @1Arthas1: Roaming together you both are grabbed at the same time by red claws and shortly later it is only darkness.

@EclipsedStar: The owl with Qi flew close to you while hunting you got a look at it and it's talons are blood red. Not only that it had two of your tribe in it's claws. It's hunting your group. For the Qi? Is it going to grow stronger by hunting you?

Voting:
Voting and Rolling
[SLIDE]
  • As a riot quest each quest-er is one newly awakened squirrel. So your vote is what you are choosing to do.
  • Each vote comes with a roll of a ten sided dice. (You need to edit your post to roll dice)
  • Any result of a 10 allows you to roll another dice (Repeating ad infinitum)
  • If someone roll's 3 consecutive 10's (Brute force with rerolls allowed) they earn an "Inspiration" that can be used in secret ways to benefit the players.
Omakes and rerolls
  • Omakes are HIGHLY encouraged. Any omake 4 or more sentences comes with a reroll.
  • Limited to Earning one reroll a turn.
  • Rerolls must be used on the turn they are earned.
  • Rerolls are transferable to other players.
Resource Rules, Food and population
  • Some things are easier or harder to gather. This is represented by the "Modifier" on the resource table. Which can be changed by the season, research, tools or workshops. Modifier is multiplied by the total dice result for how much of a resource is gathered.
  • Each Squirrel in the Sect eats 1 food per turn.
  • If all Squirrels in the tribe die the quest is over.
  • If the Squirrel count gets significantly below the voter count, votes will be ignored at random until it matches the squirrel count.

EDIT: A 2 last turn and a 1 this turn. Not what I'd call great luck.

The Great Devourer had encountered an uncomfortable truth. Despite it's unending desire for consumption it's teeth weren't sharp enough to consume the very sticks of the land, much less harder things like rocks. So, as it contemplates, it ponders into how to grow stronger, so that everything truly will be consumed by it. For the Great Devourer wouldn't be stopped by such a simple hurdle, not yet. Not Ever!

[X] Cultivate

Reroll gave me a 10, where I then got a 9. for a total of 19. Neat!

Doug wasn't that smart, even with the Qi, but he had a solid notion of practicalities. Food was important, vital. So, he went to get more food. Hopefully, some day there would be a less dangerous way to get food, but for now, the basics should suffice.

[X]Gather Food

Edit: Oops, rolled two six sided instead of a 10.
