Listening tp the chitters of his fellow squirrels, and what they had found. The squirrel desides to follow the advice of A Great Old Squirrel.
"Stay indoors, it's dangerous outside".
Gathering some acorns. the squirrel curls up in the nest. While chewing on them the squirrel thinks aboout how not to be seen.
For some reason it feels not standing up is a good first step.

We started turn 2 with 64 and got 4 more from awaking if i see that right.
This is def wrong.
We started turn 2 with 29 because they have a 0.3 multiplier (30 progress ->10 acrons)
2 stone blades each one only needs 3 points and the roll was a 8.
So 2 blades 2/3

The QM doesn't want to do anything that directly relates to how many we have, because he doesn't want a new person to join and everyone feel punished, or him have to do something negative.
Someone joining should be good. That's why it's "if we're significantly below" and not "One below"
That being said, if we can get twenty to thirty more squirrels than voters...
Maybe we can convince him!

He Who Shapes Wood with His Teeth cluttered angrily as his first attempt at a spear shattered. He tried to carve a beautiful designed spear with pictures of dancing squirrels, but it became too fragile and broke. His second attempt would be a simple pointed tip.
He found a study branch from the stockpile and began thinning it out. His sharped teeth slowly stripped lengths of wood out of his final design. Removing bulk to make it easier to use, and making a tip so sharp it cut the air.
When he finished, it was a pointy stick. It was small enough to be used by any squirrel, and should be able to pierce the feathers of the owls(hopefully).

Mimic was an older squirrel, but he felt he was still in his prime. He went out to find resources and while he found nothing interesting, when he got back he heard that many others had found death. Death came in a lot of forms for a squirrel, even an awakened one like them. There needed to be more of them, more squirrels to find food and resources, more squirrels to fight the predators that preyed on them, more squirrels to research and discover new things. But to do this they needed to Awaken, they needed to learn, they needed discipline to work together.
He looked at the squirrels in front of him, once barely more intelligent than the bugs they ate from that rotten log, but now with a glimmer of intelligence in their eyes, and he opened his mouth to shout.
"You are no longer maggots!"

And that's before we consider that if you get a 10 you could get us significantly more due to exploding dice.
If I'm honest, I wish everyone who'd tried the log and gotten below a 6 had rerolled, and I'm somewhat spiteful a few of them didn't.

I said somewhat spiteful, I didn't say I'm frothing at the mouth or anything. I didn't single anyone out in particular, ping anyone or DM anyone.
I gave my reroll to the first person to get a bad roll on it, and have largely moved on.
I'm allowed to be a little annoyed when someone does something selfish in something I'm investing my time into, that I am excited about.
Whether it's a game or not, how much it actually matters, or where it is in progress actually doesn't matter, at all.

The squirrel sat near an informal community food cache. It stared, and thought- about the way such things as unassuming (a chatter concept that evolved from chitter such as lie, but without purposeful malice. Mostly.) acorns can do so much. Now it understood too many things in a way most squirrels couldn't. Is that truly all because of an acorn?
Many other squirrels in the forest remained as they were. No one awoke without the special acorns. Twitching, the squirrel made way to the Qi Acorn storage. Such things were important, like the nimbly crafted Spears or painstakingly shaped Armor. Squirrels lacked overly sophisticated (one word used in conversations now) things, but they had at least one fancy tree hollow that only squirrels entered.
Qi Acorns hadn't been unassuming. Normal acorns were clearly different after everyone became more. Oh they looked very similar, but no acorn carried that that.
What made them different?
I have decided to spend time watching the Qi Acorns, and see what I can learn...

For doing the first art you have earned an Inspiration
Normally these are earned by rolling 3 "Consecutive" tens (Same action you can brute force it with rerolls)
As your action was a Research you may choose between a Research Inspiration bonus or a general inspiration bonus.
CHOOSE ONE (From either category)
Research Inspiration Bonus:
[]BREAK THROUGH: Instantly finish the current tech and take all current progress to it's next level.
[]MOMENT OF INSIGHT: Next turn ALL research actions gain a Free reroll.
[]SPECIAL DEVELOPMENT: Gain a completely related research finished that had the research you were working on as a prerequisite.
General Inspiration Bonus:
[] NAMED: Give one squirrel a "NAME": Named Squirrels get two actions per turn.
[] LEADERSHIP: Designate one Squirrel as a "LEADER" leaders can not use rerolls themselves but can gain up to 3 rerolls a turn for longer Omakes.

Man, all of them are great, so overall very good info on how inspiration can look like.
Finishing some of the 100 instantly would be massive as example, on the other hand the rerolls next turn would likely result in 100-200+ progress in total and give a good chance of creating some more exploding chains.
