Shepard Quest Mk VI, Technological Revolution

Ooh, another question: if we give them one of our research boosters would I be correct in assuming that the researchers they supply will also gain the benefit of those research boosters? For example the RP/quarter research teams should also get an extra boost from the Research VI, right?

That a reasonable thought process

Erm, if that's how this is going to work, then the Lithana are screwing us on this deal. The whole point of a corporate research partnership is that we invest the capital (in this case the computing tech intellectual capital), and we get the rights to whatever comes out of the research; that's how corporate research works. If the Lithana are getting the resulting techs too, then they should be paying us instead, since any techs we develop are going to have more of our fingerprints on it than those of whoever they send.

Only for suggested techs hero/unique techs, any techs of yours are yours. They happily agree not to sell/trade the hero's tech, but they'll wind up getting a copy. They'll also be "paying" by letting you keep the hero longer.

Okay, then @Yog I'd definitely suggest that we go for RP/quarter this time around, then in 2 years we make a new deal for a specialist.

So this isn't a one time only deal? I mean, we can still swap more techs for stuff later?

ditto RP/turn

[X] Plan Yog 5.0

PI Corporate Colors
[X] Blue on White

The Mordin Solus plan:
[X] Hire him
--[X] Have him help us establish ties with Sur Kesh university. Look into establishing stipends for gifted students there, and maybe exchange programs?
----[X] Look into establishing stipends for talented students in general, starting from Mindoir

Litinana deal: (Because negotiations are complicated fell free to discuss things with the GM)
Offer
[X] Advanced Research VI
For
[X] Developing something (RP/turn)
[X] Establishing and/or improving trade with them
--[X] Try to get cultural exchange going to, trade in media

Tell the SA Navy of any of your Tech Plans?
[X] Sure
--[X] Communications, long range and impossible to intercept
--[X] Logistics, i.e. working on how long the ships can serve without entering port
--[X] Stealth
[X] Ask them what they want in terms of qualitative developments. What advantages would they desire most? What is the biggest game changer?

Jelica Eveliina: Company/+4, Biotic Specialist (+1 to Biotic units), Mobility Master (+2 to highly mobile units)
[X] Hire her

Should we start employing aliens on a more general level?
[X] Yes
--[X] As a part of galactic community, the more we are integrated with others, the harder it is to get rid of us. One doesn't cut off one's hand, much less one's head, without some serious consequences. Start running this line, that by hiring more aliens we get more integrated with the wide galaxy and thus become more secure, through your PR people and spread it both for the inner and outer consumption
--[x] Absolutely bring in non-humans to the marketing, legal, and HR departments. We are already selling products in Citadel space, and will increase that exposure as manufacturing capabilities increase, so we need non-human expertise in those areas already. Expand the applicant pool for ParSec to include Citadel races as well, but have HR be extra careful with background checks here.
--[x] For now, do not hire non-humans in R&D or on-site security. We don't need the political headaches this will cause with anti-alien factions just yet.

[X] Total Ownership CCI; take company private
--[X] Have them start planning the Hyper Modular Fortress Settlement to be built later on new colonies
----[X] Utilize Williams' experience in designing the defensible settlement; use the project to evaluate him - we need to get a handle on the man and what he's worth
--[X] Carefully arrange some leaks (PI is planning to expand to Earth, but wants to do it in style and is, thus, preparing) to Terra Firma

Do you wish to take any of these jobs? (You have 25 teams and a Tiger)
[X] Keep forces at home for training/other jobs (How many)
--[X] All teams. Get them familiar with working together, and working with our technology.

[X] Plan Yog 5.0

Btw, @Hoyr What happened to those two Tigers left over from the competition? We build 4, sold 1 to captain Anderson and billed one for N7 after it was used as target practice.

Finance sheet shows we filled the orders of 378 tigers from new factory products...so...just wondering.

The settlement isn't gonna be that atlantis city thing is it?

Do want a mobile city space ship though. For if/when the reapers come.

No; it's a plan to create more defensible colonies. I think the General would be all over that idea.

The problem with mega-constructions like that is that we're going to need to redo the construction mechanic to make it worthwhile. Building giant space station things like that will take years, and I rather doubt we'll be able to in the time between Sovereign and the main Reaper invasion.

Oh good. Thought it was that atlantis thing. Pity about the timing..
Eh, we'll work on it. The combination of Superalloys, Optical Computing, Hyper Modularity and Swarm Networking should give us a convincing base on which to make self-replicating cellular automata (eg. a von Neumann swarm); we just need to get the Salarian Councilor to approve us for an AI license first. Oh, and we need to make sure that the AI likes us, too; that's kind of important. :)

Von Neumann tech is known to ME races, and is generally banned. Personally, on the subject of winning the councillors over, I'm thinking something like this:
1) Asari - build alliances, improve inter-species relationships, stabilize planets, and behave like Asari are typically described (by their propaganda) to behave. Basically, be Paragon. Also, keep befriending Liara.
2) Turian - he likes us already, and we should keep impressing him with our technology, security, by hiring Williams, etc.
3) Salarians - well, eternal youth should clinch it. It might also be a good idea to make some of our bioresearch open source. With all the precautions, of course.

We really need to start getting some of these silly bans over turned. How are we going to properly Science things otherwise? ;)

Yes, lets all be like Rapture, performing science with complete disregard for things like ethics, morality, decency and ignore very important questions like 'what does it mean to be human' and 'is that mind upload still the same person?' and 'is that person still human, even with Krogan DNA spliced into them?'

Absolutely nothing could go wrong by unshackling science, after all.

I am glad you agree.

I am fine with ethics, morals and decency. I am not particularly fine with being told that we flat out can't fundamentally alter the nature of sentient life because of those questions. We should do it with the proper safety protocol and predictions on the possible impact on society but we should do it.

And consent. Don't forget consent.
