Having Kyouko stay long term would be fun, but first Sayaka and her mom need to figure out her circumstances. They know she doesn't have a phone, doesn't seem to have been eating well and that her mood went sour when parents were mentioned. It's hard for them to say whether she's totally on her own or whether she's run away from bad parents/guardians.

Well, cat's out of the bag at this point. She really, really doesn't want to talk about it yet, but we can't sociallyawkwardpenguin.jpeg out of this by changing the subject, and Sayaka really hasn't known her long enough to just offer her permanent residence, plus it's Misato's (I'm calling her Misato from now on unless Moid gives us her first name) call anyway, it being her apartment and all.

I think what we need to do is strictly focus on the practicalities of this so that Kyoko can choose how much information she wants to offer without feeling too pressured to go into deets.

Damned if I know what to do for that, though, just that I'm not all that fond of the current bandwagon.

Well, OK, and they were wealthy enough to have a very large apartment in the middle of a Japanese city, but that doesn't really say if they were good people or not.

Well, Kyoko was going to get ice cream when we interrupted her, right? Why don't we come with to get some snacks for ourselves (and mom), and see where it goes from there once she has less of an audience?

    "Well, where did you plan on staying?"

    "I was just going to stay at a hotel."

    "Okay...but you also don't have a phone." Her mom says. "And nobody's come looking for you." She looks concerned. "...Don't tell me you're alone, are you?"

    She waves a hand and tries to change the subject. "Look. I have enough money to stay at a hotel. I can just go there, alright?"

    You sigh. "...Alright. But still, keep in touch with us, okay? How about we get you a burner phone or something?"

    She sighs. "Fine. Alright." She looks at the both of you. "As nice as you two have been, I still have only known Sayaka for, like, two days."

    Your mom blinks at this. "Really? It felt like she had known you for much longer."

    She blinks at the sudden contact. "Well, yeah. Fast friends. Kinda met at an arcade and then, whoa shit, right here." She moves a little bit out of it. "So, anyways, yeah. I'll probably be in the hotel for a while, and for the most part I'll be here. How's that sound?"

    You shrug. "Sounds good by me." You say.

    She shoots you a thumbs up. "Alright! I mean, I can't rely on you guys all the time, and stuff." She smiles cheekily. Something feels off, you think. How the hell can she pay for herself? Does she actually have support?
