*snorts* At the risk of sounding like a hipster, I've been messing around with invisitext since Witch Quest, at least. It's the earliest I remember using it, anyway. I'm by no means an early adopter, since I learned it from others, but I didn't start recently, either.

On another note, a realization: Kyouko has had a crush before.

Kyouko never confessed.

What are the chances she never confessed, because she never scraped together courage to do so before her father went crazy?

    As it turns out, your mom happened to choose something pretty great. It was entertaining and, heck, you found yourself actually enthralled by the action sequences. The TV went bang and boom with explosions and destruction, and when the theme of the movie blared, you couldn't help but get it stuck in your mind...and you knew, you knew that some kind of ass was about to get kicked.

    Kyouko herself looks on in joy throughout the entire film, and your mom seems to snicker at some parts but she ultimately enjoys it.

    You? You actually feel much better. Even though a few of the characters died in the movie, you still feel ultimately uplifted by it. "That was fun." You say. "So...now what?"

    "Iunno." Your mom says. "I'd usually be at work by this point. Actually...I'd have been at work about four hours ago."

    "...Off day?"

    "Off day." She says. "There was a leak. We're all getting paid vacation." She yawns. "Somethin' bout a chemical fire."

    "...Oh, really?" You say. "That's awful!"

    "Nobody was hurt." She says. "But several billions of yen's worth of material was destroyed. It's a bit of a mess." She sighs. "Least it means I don't get to touch the goddamn pump again. Piece of shit always breaks."

    "Uh...Mom?" You murmur. "Neither of us actually go to your job."

    "I know." She sighs. "Still. It blows chunks, and I'm glad for the break."

    "Someone left a lit cigarette around, or someone thought it would be funny to light the hydrogen tank on fire." She shrugs. "We don't know yet. We just know that a body hasn't been found. That's either because they were vaporized or nobody died in the fire."

    You wince at that. "Yeesh."

    "Yeah. Nasty stuff." She sighs. "Still, that's what happens when you work at the plant. Remember, kids. Don't be an engineer. It'll just ruin math for you."

    "But I already hate math." You stick your tongue out playfully.

    Your mom glares at you. "...Cheeky brat." That doesn't stop her from smirking. "I'll get you to appreciate numbers one of these days."

    You laugh. "No! Not that! Anything but that!"

    "It's your destiny! Math is your future!"

    "Noooooooooo!"

    "So, how was the movie?"

    She responds by humming the main theme song. "It's so catchy!"

    "I know, right?" You laugh. "Man...that fight in Hong Kong was something."

    "Wait, that was Hong Kong?"

    "Yeah!" You say. "I mean, couldn't you tell by how they said 'Hong Kong' earlier?"

    "...Oh yeah." She shrugs. "Whoops." She sighs. "Kinda wish that the American one didn't save the day."

    "Pfffft! Japan helped!" You punch the air. "And she was awesome!"

    Kyouko laughs. "Yeah, yeah, sure." She sighs.

    It's then that your mom decides to talk. "One question from me. Why the hell did they wait to use their ultimate weapon?"

    "I know!" You and Kyouko laugh. "It's so silly!"

    "Argh. It's nonsense!" She says. "It makes no sense! And now apples!"

    "Apple ice cream?" Kyouko asks.

    "Yup."

    "Fucking sweet!" She leaps up to go grab some.

    "So...Kyouko." You grin. "What was his name?"

    Suddenly, her mood sours just a little. "...I...okay, fine, it was a she."

    "Hah!" You point. "I knew it!" Both you and your mom high-five each other.

    "So?" You lean in. "Who was it?"

    She murmurs something incomperehensibly.

    "Hm?"

    "I don't want to say it."

    "Oh, come on."

    "Not right now." Kyouko says. "Please."

    You frown. "Alright."

    • ... There seems to be a real danger that Mikimom will end up liking Kyoko more than she likes Sayaka. :p

    Definitely need to dodge the Mami crush issue. Kyoko would get all miserable, Sayaka would go all PTSD-flashback and her mom would be left wondering the fuck just happened.
