SayakaQuest: Trauma is a Thing

[x] Keep talking to Homura.
-[x] Energy saving. What happens if you don't have enough grief seeds?

-[X] Madoka. What does she think of her becoming a M.S.?

Neat work.

Guess we won't be getting a sketch of the jacket til next fight, but nice.

This is why you have a cape, but make it out of ephemera-matter. So it's normally immaterial.

Capes may get you killed, but they are a lot more fun to draw. And yes, the Jacket will come in with the next fight.
Capes wouldn't get people killed if anybody heard of these nifty new inventions - say, the last two hundred years or so - called break-away clasps.

School and A Lesson From Homura [34]
[x] Keep talking to Homura.
-[x] Energy saving. What happens if you don't have enough grief seeds?

'Okay...so what about energy saving? What happens if we don't have enough grief seeds?'

She pauses. '...You run out of power.'

'Oh. Oh is that it?' You blink. '...Actually, when I used it the yesterday...I actually immediately felt better. I acted horribly to Madoka but when I used a Grief Seed I immediately stopped treating her so badly. Is this...related to something?' You already have an idea, but you really don't want that to be true. It can't possibly be true, right?

'...It is.' Homura says. 'Whatever you do...never run out of Grief Seeds. That is my only advice.' She doesn't say any more.

And it's then that the bell rings. You, Madoka and Hitomi go up to the rooftop, and you can see Homura sitting alone, keeping an eye on all of you. She seems to have this cold glare...though when you look at it closely, it doesn't seem outright antagonistic, though there is plenty of spite in her look. Instead...you can pick up a hint of sadness. She seems pained, now that you actually see it.

...

That would explain a lot of things.

[x] Talk to Hitomi. See what's wrong.

In canon, there isn't really any indication if Hitomi remembered the entire incident with being Kissed. I personally interpret her never mentioning it again as she didn't (and Mami said most people don't anyway), but that might be different here. At the same time, we don't want to just blurt out anything related to magic in case this is just standard teenage drama.

Never mind, I derped and read "Homura" as "Hitomi" in that last paragraph

[X] Talk to...
-[x] Hitomi.
-[X] Madoka.

I bet the reason Homura looks so pained is because loops where Sayaka is like this are among the most painful.

Wild guess: That hidden text vote a few updates back was us talking to Sayaka. Or possibly Oktavia, could go either way really.

I wonder how quickly Sayaka Witches out when she finds out that Witches are former Puella Magi?

I wonder how detrimental the effects of a despair spiral are when you aren't willing to use Grief Seeds to alleviate it are?

I wonder what happens when Sayaka finds out she is now essentially a lich?

Oh wait.

No, I don't.

I really don't.

Neither does Homura.

Uh, that's not what he meant.

You misinterpreted my point.

Homura doesn't wonder, because Homura knows the details of being a Puella Magi; additionally, she knows that Sayaka cracks like an egg upon finding out.

And that's why Homura's being so cagey about the whole thing.

This implies, for one, that Moid's interpretation of Homura is that she's gone through quite a few loops (people's headcanon ranges from fourteen to hundreds, so meh), sufficiently so that Homura's encountered situations where Sayaka found out before.

It also implies that Homura is going to, actively or passively, try to guide Sayaka away from this realization.

It also implies that Homura isn't actively against Sayaka, which she might be, seeing as Sayaka's the annoyingly impulsive type who strikes me as possibly having ruined things before.

That's my point: Homura knows, and she is, nominally, on Sayaka's side.

I read a small comic with Homura and Sayaka that broke my heart. Fucking burgers.

IIRC, it was Mami who cracked like an eggshell upon finding out that Magical Girls turn to Witches, not Sayaka.

Not that Sayaka doesn't Witch-out easily of course... I'm just saying that it is Mami that is more known for her breakdown upon learning of Witchification.
