In Fine, Solum Est Tibi (A Quest in Rome, During The Fall of the Republic)

Never mind, you think Sulla is trying to kill this man. Or this man was trying to break all the treaties to win glory and honor in the field of battle. Lucius Licinius Murena was either an idiot for taking only a single legion against Pontus…

Or an absolute genius.

But what mattered to you, was that he was the Legate in charge of you. And you needed to make sure he didn't get you all killed.

A quick look at google showed that his lasting political legacy was of passing the law that enforced an existing law that was meant to prevent hasty passing of laws one after another, specifically aimed to prevent a repeat of an earlier example of Marius doing so. Also, this law will be one of the reasons for the eruption of the Social Civil War.

Also, was involved in electoral fraud and being defended in court by Cicero.

Yep, that guy.

We're about to save this idiots sorry excuse of a campaign, aren't we?

Surprised that no one is looking at the rewards.

Or the fact our uncle is a badass sailor.
And he's going to get all the glory on top of it.
Eh, win some you lose some.
Only if he doesn't have any "Tragic""Mishaps" where we solemnly take command and dedicate our stunning success in his name (while reaping all the real benefits)
Indeed.
I hope we can still operate More agriculture?
Eventually.

How ironic, if I had known we would get this much money I probably would have gone for Industry. Cause uh, wow we have money. I like how an unintentional theme so far of parents just being bonkers with money.

One Legion versus all of the East. And you were not commanding it… You were, however, a senior military Tribune.
Hmm, honestly higher rank than I expected particularly for our age. Ahh, the glory of nepotism.

How do you plan to handle your… Gender Reveal?:
[]Be honest: You know a woman has no right to be in a camp, but once you show up with full kit, and armor and are outrunning, out fighting, and out-thinking your comrades, you will know there is little they will say. (High Risk, but no one will dare question your orders in battle)

[]Act Through Proxies: Pip may not look roman, but he does look like a soldier, and those will be much better than that. (Medium risk, must bring Pip with you)

[]Act as a Ghost: You must become like a shadow, pulling the strings. No one will accept a woman, so no one will know you are even there. (Medium risk)

[]Write in
Hmm, I'm tempted to pretend we're a man or something to that effect but the problem with that is not only are we a sixteen year old girl but we are a very pretty 16 year old girl. I think we should be honest because for one, intrigue is not our thing, and for another any glories we gain acting through the shadows will not be attributed to us.

Hmm, maybe we should be be honest with our fellow Tribunes but hide it from the rank and file, easier to convince less than a dozen men than 5,000 men.

Well, I was weeping in my corner about the gold we are about to lose (with our stewardship stat) and about the amazing adventure we could have with uncle badasses but I can do it here if you want? ;)

But yeah it's nice we will have a part of the pirate plan by proxy, and I love how well the scribe industry bit worked.

I think we should be violent.

[:V] The gods gave you fists for a reason. To shut up anyone who voices dissent with your position. You spend the first week repeatedly introducing your fist to the slower chauvinists among the legion.

Just beat everyone up with a wooden sword until they give us command of the Cavalry

Not really. Military tribunes are the entry positions in the army for young people with connections. The nepotism came in making us the broad stripe tribune, aka the only tribune with actual command powers.
Admittedly I was expecting Centurion which admittedly was a bit pessimistic in retrospect. Sulla gave us a position that actually has command and is typically where most politicians in Rome start their military Career. I would if we could reach the rank of Quaestor before Sulla dies, we'd be too young for it normally but Rome's pretty fucked as it is might be risky admittedly.

Anyways for those not familar with Roman legions this video should be helpful

Welp a lot to desire but at least it is a start in our career within a legion. Totally be honest with our gender since other choices could definitely blow to our faces, well this too could right away blow in our face but the dice roll gods are with us comrades!

Oh man that video was very useful in understanding the basic structure of a legion.

-[X]Academic: You have 25 scribe slaves, who are well versed in Latin and Greek. You have thousands upon thousands of stories that can be transcribed to text, send out to the highest bidder, and even work for certain… individuals in Rome. Unfortunately, with your myths not fitting Rome's official canon (or the Priest's ideas that keep them in power) you may find yourself into a blasted war with the priests. Rolled: 90

Income Increased by:D10000 => 8655

There are many things that you have learned in the few months of changing your entire land's efforts into the stories of old, and even new.

Legal documents, transcripts, and even Senate hearing notes are being asked to be transcribed and written down.

You had prepared two teams, one for translation of stories, and the other for working on political, and present-day texts.

Thankfully, most texts were only a scroll or two long, and of course, you charged an extortionate amount for it.

And while there was grumbling… you knew for a fact there was money to be made.

And the best part, the Priests, at the moment, do not care. They have no interest in reading your scrolls, and merely think you are just…. Getting ahead before marriage.

After all, who cares about Barbarian stories that they think you are transcribing.
Dammit, in this AU Claudia is going to be the most beloved historical figure by any historian, academic, or archeologist...

We are not only preserving completely unedited Greek texts, but also the boring but essential bureaucratic paperwork that shows the inner work of Rome.

If they ever found a statue of Claudia, every History campus in the world will have at least one reproduction of said statue on its entrance...

I mean that's assuming our texts survive long, I've seen a number of videos on Rome where Roman texts talk about a source that's now lost for us.

You considering our money was buried with several times her own weight in gold and we have a profitable business, we might consider bribing the other higher ranks to accept us. It's not ideal but it might help things starting out.

Let's use our silver tongue and intelligence first if that fails we can go for the bribing... It is cheaper that way.

You know, with all that money we could just buy more land if we want to do agriculture. We could even rent it to free citicens to avoid adding to the sistemic issue that created the Gracchi brothers.

Let´s be careful with our spending we don´t want to attract too much attention to ourselves... Thanks to the new academic business we have already massively increased our income, and having all that gold hidden is a great ace in the hole...

Buying land should not raise any red flags, sincce that's something patricians with money do anyways. And we're already going to be one of the most elligible bachelorettes due to our existing wealth and relation with Sulla.

Yeah I think we should just be honest, we have our wits, or sword arm and money. We're in a cushy freaking start, we can afford to use our advantages. Like it will be a struggle to gain acceptance but better to prove ourselves openly than to risk sneaky stuff we're not good at.

Looks at the Rolls for the Dad Stat.

Dad had a 1 in Stewardship, Administration, and logistics, but he did have the lucky trait.

Mom had a 25 in those skills.

So take that as what you will.

So our dad was horrible with cash, but did increasingly erratic and brilliant things with it.

Like burying millions of dollars of gold... in the ground at our mother's grave.
Hmm, honestly higher rank than I expected particularly for our age. Ahh, the glory of nepotism.
Sulla is the dictator... almost, that will be running the show soon enough, we have plenty of time to start looking at job opportunities elsewhere.
Well, I was weeping in my corner about the gold we are about to lose (with our stewardship stat) and about the amazing adventure we could have with uncle badasses but I can do it here if you want? ;)
Hey, you can always change careers and try to find a way to... you know... Go pirate hunting after a career in the legion.

Hey, Uncle Ion might also be doing an amazing job?
Not really. Military tribunes are the entry positions in the army for young people with connections. The nepotism came in making us the broad stripe tribune, aka the only tribune with actual command powers.
Yep, meaning, if you are lucky, you can save this idiot form his campaign going up in smoke because let me tell ya...

This legate is not the Caeser or Marius... or Sulla of this generation.

We are a politically connected roman of course.

Well you have some bonuses coming your way on that front.
Will we somehow have the ability to upgrade our forces or is that not possible?
You are not in command, so you cannot get more people to help out.
I got to wonder, what the heck happened with our mom's family. Like how does someone who have that many boats get enslaved?
Let me put it to you this way:

They were Kings and Queens of a supposed pirate dynasty.

And they were no on the winning side against the Romans.

Keep that money safe, you never know when things might be needed.
Let's use our silver tongue and intelligence first if that fails we can go for the bribing... It is cheaper that way.

THe idea that you have has never been tried before in rome, but it cannot solve the many mounting problems that is growing beneath Romes underbelly.
Buying land should not raise any red flags, sincce that's something patricians with money do anyways. And we're already going to be one of the most elligible bachelorettes due to our existing wealth and relation with Sulla.
Buying land quickly and in a hurry with newfound wealth that no one knows about however, is.

Well, you know what they say:

The Die is cast.
