It was 7 no? Would that mean they aren't human per exalted?
Doesn't it depend on when you're looking at Egyptian mythology? The number changed depending on what period you use as a source. I've seen anywhere from 3* to 9 souls.

*Or rather, two souls with one special third soul that only some people get. Funny how that works. Sadly, the sources for this one all were dead links, so I doubt this particular count. Despite how well it fits Exalted.

Goddamnit! Kimbery's charmset lets you be Davy Jones from the Pirate of the Carribean! He's got a crew with Kimbery mutations, a ship that can maneuver through the water like nothing else and he is holding a grudge, a bitterness, that eats away at him. That consumes him even though he'd better off abandoning it, and which makes spite the world.

Heck, she can even summon the Kraken!
Oi!

As far as new material, you can also model the idea of him crewing the Dutchman with Dead men through one of Ta'akozoka's Charms, which lets you bind men beyond death until their debts to you have been paid.

His men become indebted to him in exchange for the "privilege" of becoming part of the crew, and they pay off the debt through service aboard his ship.

Okay, this is a bit of strange request. But I was checking Ta'kazooka charmset by RO on the thread, and realized the excellency has no emphasized keyword.

Anyone knows the excellency text that has emphasized keyword? Like this. I realized they probably don't exist, because WW forum gone to digital graveyard and all, but thought it couldn't hurt to ask.

Ta'akozoka: The Great Tentacled One is disquieting and insidious. She is universally covetous. Growing continuously, she squeezes in wherever she finds an opening and fits into unlikely places. Her rivals rightly fear her subtle infiltration of their territories, for she crushes and strangles all competition and absorbs assets of fallen foes. Her recently acquired subsidiaries are offered a new beginning within her far-reaching organization. But all things have their price. She entangles her serfs within the pervasive nature of her enterprises, making them dependent on her. To her, they are nothing but possessions to buy and sell as it suits her. When a being can no longer uphold its end of a bargain, she cuts her losses and prepares the soul for reincarnation. She knows it is better to recycle assets than let them go to waste. Unlike most of her kind, the Twisting Wheel recognizes that death is necessary. Not for herself, of course. Ever rejuvenating, she can shed pieces of herself to endure as other perish.
This Charm can be used on any action which flaunts, exploits, or hoards wealth. It can also be used to supplant or subsume a rival, as well as to monopolize resources beyond the grasp of her opponents. It cannot be used on any act of purely altruistic charity; only with the promise of compensation, however symbolic, can this Charm lend aid to others. The mortally wounded, the fatally poisoned, the terminally ill, and the starving are always behind the help of this Charm. At best, the character may hasten deaths and rebirths.

This is just what I would recommend.

Also, whoa, that Mythos Exultant is crazy.

Throwing together a short story with an Outcaste Dragonblood as the MC. How does this look for 'showing charms instead of telling them'?
Unbending to his full height Resplendent Sepulchre let the icy water of the mountain spring sluice off his back and turned to face the visitors. Two young boys, lanky, beardless and awestruck supported a sickly man, one proffering a bloodstained parchment manuscript. Skin afflicted with a silver sheen wept mercury as fevered eyes spun in their sockets, searching for something not to be found with mortal sight. With a sigh he walked to the rude pagoda perched upon the cliff, supplicants following.

Within he bade the boys to lay their father upon the stone slab that he had carved for this purpose. The poison was obviously mercury based, but did that suggest a wound from a raksha, a god or a demon? With alabaster fingers he gently massaged the sodden meat, coaxing forth streams of the deadly toxin to flow through the channels carved into the slab and into the waiting basin. Slowly but surely Sepulchre worked the muscles, shifting from the pectoral to the abdominal, confident in the immunity of his marble fingers.

Hour upon hour he worked until he had squeezed every drop from the father's flesh and then he turned to the sons, to cleanse the places where they had polluted themselves bringing the father to this place. When he was finished he guided his weary petitioners to the third floor of the pagoda to sleep, settling down in the hall to read the offering they had brought, starlight enough to allow crystal-sharp eyes to see. A simple treatise on the chiminage demanded by low spirits reveals itelf, likely the tool of a exorcist or thaumaturge. None of it's especially useful, but Sepulchre does his best to clean off the blood and stores it with the rest. Then he seats himself in seiza and begins to search for that shining light within himself again.
It's only three paragraphs at the moment, but I'd like some input on the Awareness and Medicine/Resistance charms that went into this. I think 'flesh-to-marble' would work pretty well as the fluff for a Medicine or Resistance charm and I intend to use this kind of 'format' for all charms involved, with Dragonblood ones merely manifesting (for the ones that affect the self anyway) as an elementally flavoured tweak to appearance, not mentioning names at all.

Inspired by @Aleph and @EarthScorpion's posting of Kerisgame

@Maugan Ra has been GMing a Solo game for me, and I thought I'd start putting up logs if anyone was interested. So, without further ado...

The Sword of Amaterasu
So this was really good. It's always nice to see more exalted quests, and the main character seems interesting so far. I the fusion of the two settings is intriguing and I'm eager to learn more, though I donqonder how you will provide a solar meaningful opposition when they aren't facing the whole world. Will there be other celestial exalts?

Also the main character isn't an infernal so minus 5 points.

There will be, although none Sakura has been opposed to just yet.

The fusion has had its effects on the setting of Rokugan as well as on Creation, incidentally.

Warning: Warning
You know what? I'm just going to post this, since its so hard to read Pdfs on my phone.

Sorcerous workings

Without extra means, you have 5 rolls.

Terrestrial Circle workings (Goal number 5, 10, 20):
  • Transforms, enhances, or weakens pre-existing elements of the natural world, rather than directly invoking supernatural forces
  • When supernatural exists, it is usually limited or constrained
  • Limited to minor blessings - augments natural properties of that area
  • Most powerful workings work on either a small chamber, or on a single character

Celestial Circle workings (Goal number 25, 30, 35):
  • Miracles of outright supernatural power
  • Either rewrites the laws of the natural world on a relatively large scale or instills supernatural power into the mundane world
  • Powerful blessings or curses
  • Affects entire villages or a particular neighbourhood
  • Power is obvious, or a dramatic or drastic change to the world
Solar Circle Workings (Goal Number 40, 50, 75):
  • Rewrite laws of reality or add new ones
  • Encompasses entire cities at Ambition 1, or entire cosmos at Ambition 3
  • Can bend time, space, or boundaries of worlds to the sorcerer's will
  • Can change a being's very soul
warning This thread isn't a place for you to post fragments of the rulebook for your own convenience. Don't do it again.

Next chapter of The Sword Of Amaterasu went up last night - Duty and Honour. In which we meet Yuzuki, Sakura's lover. As I said in the intro, Sakura's a character I've played before in games GMed by Maugan, although she's evolved in each of the games she's been in (a PbP L5R 4e game on Sufficient Velocity called Topaz Championship, the testing of FFG's upcoming new L5R edition, and this game). The romance between her and Yuzuki was in the first, and definitely one that I wanted to have as a big feature. So, instead of having the romance develop as in Topaz Championship, we decided to have their romance already existing.

They're, uh, also the reason I have this marked as Mature. We don't go really explicit on-screen, this isn't an ERP, but there are several sessions where they interact in moments of intimacy and we make it abundantly clear what going on. :V. I'll mark out chapters where that happens.

We also meet Sakura's yoriki. For those of you who don't know L5R, these are a magistrate's deputies.

Say goodbye, Sakura's Yoriki. @Maugan Ra and I uh

We kinda forgot about them

For the next ten sessions

Also yes that ronin innkeeper is totally Iroh.

Hey did anyone know where that homebrew with the region that had geomantic towers ruining the geomancy and tons of beastmen went? It's not threadmarked.

@Sanctaphrax , about your Dragon-blooded 3e Craft charms:

I like them. Your Craft rewrite is still the high standard for me because of its brevity, focus on non-artifact Craft, and siloing the dice-trick charms away from the interesting charms. The Dragon-blooded Craft charms keep to your previous level of quality. I'm not qualified to comment on how they compare to the original charms, as I did not back the Kickstarter and have not seen them.

Thanks!

Anything you'd like to see added/removed/changed?

I've got a slight revision in the works, based on some other feedback I've gotten. Mostly just adding some Clutch-of-Dragons-inspired Charms at the moment, but it could go further.

(Revision should be out already, actually, but I'll spare you the complaints about my computer).

Is it just me or is it morbidly hilarious that the moment the possibility of 'selling out' became real everyone started discussing just how much they would be willing to 'sell out' for? :p

Doesn't seem fair to call it selling out. I don't think working for Onyx Path is bad for your artistic integrity.

I do think their treatment of their employees is pretty questionable in some ways, but that's not one of them. (And to be honest, I'm kind of burned out on that topic in general.)

Upissued Szoreny to v1.03, nearly exactly a year after I released it.

Szoreny, the Silver Forest

Article:
2018-09-01
  • Document up-issued to v1.03
  • Structure of the Social tree that previously followed Quick-and-Silvery-Touch has been changed
    • CHARM ADDED - Colossal Falsehood Prana, which directly follows on from Envious Heart. For when you want to tell a big lie, a proper whopper.
    • Fox Tongue Rumour now follows Colossal Falsehood Prana, so you can be truly fair and balanced.
    • Slippery Gentlemen Susurration now follows Fox Tongue Rumour, for increased fairness and balance even above its previous charm.
    • Slanderous Whispers Technique now follows Colossal Falsehood Prana, so it's now only three charms deep.

Yup that's it, thanks! Needs a threadmark.

Also Soconatas needs a threadmark.
No it doesn't, Soconatas is baaaaaaad (>_>), and was written too hurriedly to actually be useful for games. I am working on a rework of it, but the current Soconatas is just not useful at all, I think @Rook summarized it's issues by telling me (harshly and deservedly), "I'd love to play in Stone Blood or Serpent Flower, unfortunately you wrote them to be in Soconatas."

Damnit Manus, you need to bookmark your failures so you can be pushed forward by them!

New Sakuragame sessions are up! Three of them, in fact.

Firstly, we resolved the whole business with that apparent suicide. I... geez. I don't think I'd have personally make the choice Sakura did here. :/

And the second thing of note is what happens when you get nine successes on a prayer roll when on a sacred mountain. :V

And then I decided to get the AO3 entirely up to date

Sooo, things of note that I don't note in the chapter notes

Let's see... I'm not actually that happy with my role playing in session 11. I feel like I was too indecisive and really just
Ran against the brick wall that is Matsu Ketsui.

Which is a bit of a theme for Sakura, she lost a fight against a mortal. That one was entirely on me- I didn't use a Decisive attack against her when I should have, and paid for it. Sakura probably could have won if it was to the death, but it wasn't.

Thanks!

Ephemeral Form Composition doesn't specify what 'slight faster' means with charms such as Stone Carving Fingers. Is it the original, un-augmented speed?

Stone Carving Fingers etc has some holes in what can be made which I think are in the original text, but it is funny that Dragon-bloods can only make vegetarian meals at speed. I don't think the workshop matters for non-wonder crafting, so it isn't missing. Shaping Hand Style could probably be an Essence 2 re-purchase of Stone Carving fingers after you buy all three versions.

That's all I have for nit-picks.

I also remember suggesting changes to bring it in line with the rest of the setting like giving a list of outside cultural influences, instead making the focus on myth heavily fractious oral traditiona and the various polis being self-styled heirs to an Alexander figure in their own way and deeply distorting all the culture and politics around them..

Greece of antiquity by way of early modern Italy, for the actually useful ground-level view, essentially.

Speed-enhancing Charms should let you actualize a planned wonder faster. I'll fix up the wording.

Not something I had planned, but actually pretty fitting. I'm keeping it that way.

Although I feel like I should point out that Forge-Hand Prana can be used for cooking. So you still need Shaping Hand Style for sushi, but you can roast a ham with its prerequisites. If that's not clear, I'll tweak the wording to make it so.

I don't think the workshop matters for non-wonder crafting, so it isn't missing.

Not quite sure what you mean by this.

Shaping Hand Style could probably be an Essence 2 re-purchase of Stone Carving fingers after you buy all three versions.

Yeah, probably. Not sure whether it'd be better that way or not.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback.
