...Dragon is a huge security vulnerability. Not just because of Saint, but because she has to listen to Costa-Brown. Not that anyone knows this, but...yeah. I don't see it happening. Unless Taylor manages to hack Dragon's chains off.

pssst: "all". Try "all" of the world's elements heavier than iron. Yes, all Earth's core were belong to them, as well as the much vaster quantities needed to give later-generation stars a visible metallicity percentage.

--Dave, well, except for a statistically insignificant percentage originating from the areas around black holes, quasars, cosmic strings, and other things far too dangerous to touch these days

And some have been synthesized in labs right here on Earth. Technetium wasn't a thing until we made some in a lab back in the 1930s.

The thing to remember is the secrecy around Taylor's identity is for her protection. Since the PRT has demonstrated an ability to leak information greater then cheesecloth leaking water the security agencies are justified in not trusting them with her identity. Couple that with the PRT's inability to handle the situation with the gangs in Brockton Bay, mind you that is mostly due to the lack of proper resources, personel, and support from higher up ie. RCB.

If it looks like they were going to be forced to accept it, Gravtech might be able to argue PRT/protectorate involvement down to having Armsmaster (most notable local tinker hero) and Dragon (who's thing is also studying tinker-tech) help oversee watch as Taylor reverse-engineers tinkertech they provide. Tinkertech itself stays nominally under their control, Gravtech continues being able to crank out proper versions.

RCB continues to be driven nuts as both of them refuse to disclose the identify of the Primary Asset.
I kind of doubt it, regarding dragon at least. She's not an American citizen, and is an active member of a law enforcement agency of another country. It doesn't matter how closely allied they are, the spooks would most likely rather drink battery acid than allow her in the same room as Taylor's research.

Armsmaster is a maybe, but he's already pulling double duty as the head of the local team and a key player in their street level duties. From a practical stand point it'd make more sense if the Protectorate had tinkers focused on analyzing tinker tech and various related topics they could tap instead of triple loading Armsmaster's schedule.

That's the sort of detail that can easily be set aside for the sake of telling a good story, but if we're looking at this from an IC perspective tinker research and parahuman resource management are the kind of things they'd take into account while planning.

Hell, the ENE branch might even leverage that point to try and force RCB into coughing up some reinforcements.

Who wants to bet that Piggot will push for that (no love lost between her and RCB after all)?
Again, never piss off both sides of your chain of command.

On the one hand I would like it if Piggot pushed for having Armsmaster be an on-site observer for when the Prime Asset dismantles Tinkertech and produces similar devices that are fully grounded in 'real science,' while denying RCB any information on the identity of the Prime Asset.
On the other hand, RCB could simply replace Piggot with Rennick with instructions to 'break/force/make' Gravtech come into the sphere of control and observation PRT/Protectorate(/Cauldron).

Admittedly, Rennick trying to accomplish that objective would fail. Possibly hilariously or not with him simply receiving a visit from the Black Widow look-a-like.

Hell, the ENE branch might even leverage that point to try and force RCB into coughing up some reinforcements.

That is phenomenally interesting idea with so much potential behind it. I really, really do hope that MPpi makes use of that idea.

Rule 3: Be Civil: This is not the first time you've made an inappropriate post like this.
never been said by the group of people who have criticisms of this story that it needs more fights.

What crock of shit are you trying to spread? I've mostly been ignoring you trolls. But that's exactly what was said pages ago.

Complaining about how the high security very well-paying job didn't have enough hurt little snowflakes to cause issues. Do you know the kind that would never make it past testing and get hired with that kinda security clearance?

Then more about how she's too smart and didn't rely on Sunday morning cartoon plots to figure shit out. There are like 3 of you begging for attention from the author or anyone else. Then get upset when you're laughted at.

You most certainly do not get to tell others their posts are not valid and to shut up. If you're going to cry strawman, each of you using it the wrong way to, for attention don't get upset when you get it.

And it's mostly others laughing at you.

Gah.. i gota stop feeding the trolls too.. but the sheer gall of acting like the special little snowflake hurt by the big bad posters laughing at them.

Of course, we have no idea what @mp3.1415player is planning at all, so our baseless speculation and predictions are probably very off.
That may be true, but I dare say there's always going to be a few things that would remain constant.

[ANTICIPATION] for the periods before the next chapter drops
[AMUSEMENT] for the periods when readers read (duh) the chapters
[CONTENTMENT] for the periods immediately after reading
... Maybe some [DATA] exchange between the [CONTENTMENT] and [ANTICIPATION] periods thrown in.

Haha this was great. I would love to see a PoV from lisa or such to show how coil was worked into a dead end. As that was kind of out of the blue. A nice flash back chapter or such, would fill some holes.

I can't imagine the military's total gaping shock and glee of what they are moving towards. Cloaked vehicles/personnel with rail guns(and who knows what else she builds or what darpa ideas are in storage from being not feasible until now) and portals to move them around? Holy shit. It's even more crazy them some science fiction and I love it.

As far has her cloaking thing being tinkertech its obviously not. It has none of its defining characteristics, others can build and understand it and there was no shard involved in its construction or making it work. Sure inspiration was taken from a tinktertech device, but inspiration isnt a quantifiable thing the PRT can use to get a foot in(if they can prove it). The PRT is basically screwed because they set the definition of what a parahuman and what tinkertech is. And changing it now would be too obvious. The most they could do is confiscate squealers cloaking device that taylor found. Taylor basically took about any definition of tinker out of it(working when it shouldn't, a shard basically making it work, no one understanding how it works even the maker, etc). They also just never have to mention where the inspiration came from to get as little push-back as possible.

The PRT will keep pushing though. They have to. While they have been told and shown its not a parahuman via brain scan, its logical for them to not trust it as it could just be a scan from anyone. And DARPA wont give them the real name or let them scan taylor themself because of operational security, as it should be. At least atm, as they have shown they know they can't keep it a secret forever and only want to get a far enough lead to keep it. It will be a hilarious moment when it does come out who taylor is and the PRT personally do a scan and find nothing. Also Rebecca better be careful, taylor can tell who parahumans are, and if RBC shows up and she detects she is one and lets someone know, goodbye PRT position.

And right from there it went to completely OOC for Coil. Because splitting timelines is a reflex for him to that point.

I agree at this point it he felt a bit ooc. As I would of expected a split right as the previous collapsed. One going home and one driving to another base or such. But I also think it would of not changed the outcome and just been a few hundred words of him splitting and the same things happening, as I think, that they knew exactly what his power was. Since they hit his base and were at his home waiting. So I would assume other bases(if there are any) were being watced or his car being easily monitored with a drone or such as he drove home. Splitting in the room with the agent and TT would be even more pointless, granted he probably would of at least tried once or twice if the author wanted to write that all out.

I am hoping for a interlude or something from Tatttletale's PoV to see how she set him up and what brought her to the attention of the agent. If coil was doing like kaiser and getting info from PRT informants, they could of traced it back to either of them just like it did to kaiser. And if they got to TT first, she would easily jump at the chance to screw him over.

Outside of tinker systems, seems worm doesn't care much for information security. Wouldn't be hard for the government to tap phones, internet and such on every villain and their members in BB.

CIA do not operate within the country (or at least shouldn't), it's NSA that do, and Calvert being a government employee is supposed to know this.
Not quite on topic with your post, but it's likely that Ms. Aoyama's red-haired cousin works for the DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency).
Those phones wouldn't be the Nokia bricks would they?
They are practically indestructable but their battery life tended to suck.
No, Taylor's using ruggedized smartphones.
For irony's sake, all the complaints from Protectorate Capes about RCB's actions get passed up to Alexandria.
There are two things wrong with that idea. First, Legend is the head of the Protectorate, not Alexandria. Second, the Protectorate is actually subordinate to the PRT, so even if Rebecca weren't also a member of the Triumvirate, Legend wouldn't actually be able to do anything about her.

Yes, that would be hilarious. Even more hilarious would be if spiffy new parahuman sensors led to the discovery of RBC's status as a parahuman.

That would be rather funny especially if the joint chiefs are feeling sneaky as well as the DoD they could use it to brow beat her. Though it may most likely get passed to the president who may throw the book at her I do kind of want to see RCB/Alexandria vs the United States in court.

Still that would be a major national crisis since it violates a load of laws the US govt put in place and could lead to a major witch hunt. Still though who would take over after she gets the boot in all honesty my money would be on Piggot, Armstrong or Tagg.

Though in all honesty the parahuman detector when widely dispersed would be a major boon for law enforcement to say nothing of intel or defence. Since it could show you if there is a parahuman in the area whether it gives a location, distance and direction though depends on the sensitivity of it. TBH though what taylor needs to develop is a way to counter masters and their effects as well as defuse there effect on people that would be a big thing.

I mean for one the Canadians could go after heart breaker and his kids with minimal risk and defuse his followers and any walking talking time bombs he left in Canada to go off if he dies.

Why does Prime Asset need to be the one officially looking at the Tinkertech with Armsmaster and friends?

Surely a lot of work can be done by the research department and supercomputer sims now, and the catalog of known parts is only increasing.

When they come to a sticking point, pass along some clean advice like 'those chicken nuggets seem intended to filter out specific polarizations of high frequency gravity waves', and then the researchers can be 'oh, that's done with a beryllium trapezoid these days. Lets run some sims to find out what angles we need to get subspace harmonics in the downstream circuit. If that works out well we should be able to do some testing next month to see which harmonics we can combine to make pocket dimensions with three dimensional interiors like Toybox's device does. Wait, no, can't forget about adding time in there! Stasis box as a new feature anyone?'

I know everyone is expecting surprise lizards, but I can't shake the feeling that Taylor will finally get in touch with her alien teachers just as things go down, and suddenly Ms. Aoyama is showing Not!Natasha how it's done.

If you're expecting surprise lizards, they aren't much of a surprise. What I am expecting is that Taylor will happily SCIENCE away, and continue throwing scientific circles and Cauldron into chaos while barely noticing said chaos.

See this is what I think would happen because both Armsmaster and Dragon are law/rules abiding (granted for different reasons) and really it would be great fun if a bunch of people who RCB *thinks of* as under her command keep telling her *no* because of NDA's and the fact they want to keep working with Taylor.

Note: Legally speaking there are (or should be) no parahumans under RCB command. The Protectorate are a separate command structure from the PRT and is headed by Legend (not Alexandrea). RCB has no actual standing to order members of the Protectorate to do *anything*. This separation of command is kind of muddled in BB both because the general state of chaos makes things hectic and because Armsmaster is not a great leader so bows to Piggot as being better at it than him.

No, she has to listen to the highest authority giving her orders so if the President of the USA said, "don't tell anyone about this" or gave written orders to that effect then Dragon would obey that.

*see Taylor doing GLORIOUS REVERSE ENGINEERING* ... how much time before video game playing Marines will ask "How much time before we will be able to have power armors, Halo style?"?

Reread what I responded to, a general statement that I gave a general response. It touched on one of my peeves, that storytelling has to be all fanservice all the time to be worthwhile. I may have misunderstood what they said but it didn't look specific to this thread or it's dissenting readers to me.

It must be nice to think everyone's talking about you.
Well, sorry then. I don't think it strange to believe that, amidst a long discussion about this specific thread and the lack of violence in it, your post wouldn't be generalizing but be on the same topic. So I didn't think it was about me, but the very topic you answered to.

I guess my tendency to confine my discussion to the current situation, instead of generalizing, may have caused confusion in understanding you.

Still, I don't see many "fanservice=only storytelling" supporters even out there, unless it's a story specifically centered about it. Or were you talking even more generally, about other media even?

Because I'd say that in many games or some movie categories yeah, violence might be more important than other things.

About the story, I do wonder about the reaction of other alphabet agencies. For example CIA is "not allowed" on to operate inside the US, but I don't see them ignoring this. FBI is a given, what about the others? Being not american, those and the IRS (who i guess is eyeing the golden goose as well) are the one I know.

A very long time. The power armor in Halo can only be worn by supersoldiers who had been genetically modified and enhanced with cybernetics. Normal people get crushed by the armor as soon as they try to move.

EDIT: Funny thing, apparently the "melee one hit kill" from Halo's multiplayer is realistic.
