Distance Learning for fun and profit...

So you want DARPA to precede in recruiting ABB in stabilizing the area somehow?

All you would need is someone to be willing to take down Lung at any price(eg. revenge for lost family members) and has access to a sniper rifle. Countersniper operations before the first shot can be difficult in an urban environment.

Yes, but that just sets a horrendous precedent.
I would recommend reading Constellations for inspiration on dealing with Lung through non-violent means.

The precedent it sets is 'Do not fuck with the military as they have no sense of humor at all and very big guns. So don't push your luck.'

Are you volunteering to be sniper?
Remember that Oni Lee is hanging around.

I'm sure they could find a spare RPG. Or just do a little careful surveillance then drop a JDAM on the building from 30000 feet...

Well, that and they start feeling valued again - the change from standing there glumly as some idiot violates the laws of physics without any real understanding of what they are actually doing to being on a level footing because they've made massive advances and can now start to really Science again probably helps. There's nothing like being actually able to impress rather than being looked at as the sad cousin of the people with the Iron Man armour.

I do kind of wonder if DARPA will relocate to Brockton Bay lock, stock and barrel soon, though:

Aide: "Listen, Sir, I tried to explain that Virginia is warmer. Hell, I even offered NASA in Florida or JPL in California, she says she likes it up here."
General gives him a flat look, then sighs. "Okay, tell them to box everything up and move our people up here. 80% of our budget is being spent here anyway now, we may as well make it official and let everyone stop commuting."
Aide: "Well, property is cheaper up here than the Washington area, sir, so there's that."
General: "Because its' a wretched hive of scum and villainy that gets covered with snow every single year. Please don't try and make this sound better than it is."
Aide: "Just think of the Science, sir."
General: "Note to self, encourage her to create weather control."
There is more than one DARPA facility out there. They have a facility in Cambridge a couple blocks away from MIT. So the minimum necessary move distance is just to Boston.

The precedent it sets is 'Do not fuck with the military as they have no sense of humor at all and very big guns. So don't push your luck.'

That does not make it any less terrible.
Of course, I have had a soft spot for Lung. There used to be a fanfic where Uncle Iroh was Lung. Bakuda has tea with him.

Oh, it's terrible in one sense, yes. But in another it would be entirely fitting for the setting.

That said, I've used other ways to deal with Lung in other stories, most of them much less... permanent. In Taylor Varga it was basically negotiation from a position of strength.

IE "Play nice or we eat you."

:)

Seems to have worked. And he's on speaking terms with one of Taylor's alter-egos, not to mention respects her. Which is kind of mutual.

Bakuda questions him as to why the ABB acts like a community support program as opposed to a normal gang. The answer she gets is that kindness, peace, and helpfulness are the better route.

The precedent it sets is 'Do not fuck with the military as they have no sense of humor at all and very big guns. So don't push your luck.'
"You are used to be treated as if you need to be negotiated with as an equal. You are used to being able to take your mask off and be safe from consequences. You are used to people reacting only when you actually do something, not when you beat your chest and threaten. You are used to people who are prepared to suck up a certain level of disruption from you without levying consequences out of concern over some nebulous concept of legality. You need to stop being used to it when you talk to us, because those sorts of delusions will get you killed, and we won't lose a moments sleep over sending the order for the bullet that does it."

You know, it just occurred to me to wonder how well Alexandria (or Glory Girl, or any other superman-style flyers) could do their thing in an artificial GRF… I suppose it would depend quite a lot on the settings?

I always thought of ever Lung as splitting his time between being a rage dragon and being a man set in the ways of Japan. That Lung would be rage dragon all the time never made much sense.

That is something I can get behind as it is something that Lung, the man, would understand.

He was a low level gangbanger before he triggered, fought Leviathan, and then I don't think ever went back to Japan. He's also half Chinese so I don't know that he'd be overly appreciative of Japan's culture considering the, y'know, racism. Right?

He was a half-Chinese with a Japanese mother (which means no citizenship for him), and thus was HEAVILY bullied (because Japan flips back and forth between "Gajiin Scum" and "Blond and Red Hair are So Pretty!", and Lung isn't European). He joined with a small-time gang in high school, and in his late teens-early twenties that gang tried to get in with the Yakuza. The gang was sent to deal with a small-time Yang-Ban drug operation that was setting up in their town.

During the raid, Contessa showed up, because Path I guess? There was never a reason given for why she was at this particular Yang-ban drug operation in Japan where there were no other capes or high-level Chinese, or even Japanese, people. Anyway, Contessa kills all of the Yang-Ban and Lung's gang, and causes Lung to trigger, before fucking off back to Cauldron. He returns home, and becomes one of the Yakuza's "Big Sticks" against the Sentai Elite, Japan's superhero team equivalent to the Protectorate. Eventually, he fights in the Leviathan attack on Kyushu. Lung ramps up as far as he ever has before, becoming a silvery metal lizard with four wings, six limbs, and a tail; in this state he is taller than Leviathan. Their battle rages for hours, as the island sinks around them.

At an unknown time, Lung is captured by the Yang-Ban and is kept in a pit while he is "trained", both in how to use his power and to serve the Yang-Ban. I assume this is before they got the Mind-Control cape, as he escapes. This may be before or after Leviathan, we just don't know.

After Leviathan, Lung decides that the Endbringers at not something that can be fought, only survived, and doesn't attend another fight. He makes his way to America, as many other Japanese and other Asian populations do in the wake of the attack. He settles in Brockton Bay, and unifies a half-dozen country-separated Asian-only gangs into one pan-Asian gang, the Asian Bad Boyz or ABB. During this assault, which takes most of a year, he kills all but one of the capes leading/part of those gangs. The surviving cape is Oni Lee, who swears himself to Lung. Some time after the ABB is formed, Lung fights off the entire Protectorate ENE team. Notably, this team does not include Assault, Battery, Triumph, or Dauntless yet, but does include Challenger. Challenger retires soon after this fight and Lung is usually CONTAINED rather than FOUGHT following this.

The ABB remains a rival of the E88 for the next however long, as well as dealing with the Archer's Bridge Merchants and Coil fairly regularly. This time does not last more than two or three years, before Canon starts and things happen as described in Worm. Read it if you want to know more, and then go cry in a corner because that shit is depressing.

Is the whole 'kidnapping girls off the street to throw them in the ABB run bordello' (the farm) thing fanon or canon?

Bolt from the blue suggests there were violent means.

Canon, according to Worm and Wildbow's WoG. Some people refuse to accept that though on the grounds that it makes things worse.

No need for biggatons(despite my like for those). The author already stated a single bullet to the head when Lung is not expecting cranial surgery to be enough. Guess which group has the resources, capabilities, and will to do so? The group that has to protect Taylor. Suffice to say that Taylor will not be effectively threatened for long by Lung.

And I think everyone would prefer BB be uncontaminated by radioactive fallout(any nuke will generate enough to cause problems for BB).
EDIT: Typo sent away using specialized gravitic drive system.

Then he'll probably die in his sleep under perfectly normal circumstances. Perfectly. Normal. The absolute lack of forensic evidence will tell Cauldron everything they need to know (namely, "Back the fuck off").
He'll die of the same thing Blaise Zabini's stepfathers die of: Natural Causes.
Quite.

You may in fact need a therapist because they fixed your lack-of-lizard problem :D

And how they did that...
But don't worry. Spontaneous lizardification almost never happens these days, they've got most of the bugs worked out.

Um, the snow is one of the few attractive things BB has going for it.
Now I'm scared. I don't think being in a different section of omniverse is far enough... If it's not lizards then it's superscientist or dr. Curlyhair or Rage incarnate or aliens! The only salvation is more wordz! Wordz for the Wordz god!
ITYM "Wordz from the Wordz god!"
You don't need an RPG, just a Marine Corps Sniper, a .50 Caliber Rifle, about 1000 yards of space and one head shot.
Eh. No one is actually certain what his baseline toughness is, so better overkill than underkill.
That does not make it any less terrible.

I have bad news for you. That precedent was set centuries millenia ago.

Presumably because it stopped (or caused) something a few years down the line. Remember: PTV is utter bullshit.
