-How much of the history people know is actually correct?
Bloody good question.
OOC, you've already realized that the local accounting of The Last Star is only ~80% accurate.
IC... I'd say you could tell The Last Star had multiple types of Magic, but you probably actually
can't feel anything except "Protection" from it unless Idrial's actively firing. And even then, you'd only realize that "the beam is different from its normal Magic." Adrian doesn't exactly want to give his enemies a chance to snoop, even if he's not trying for total concealment anymore.
[][Minor Question]"What if we only send one or two, and you claim that they're a local magician's Familiars?"
-[]"How much do you think that excuse would change the Traders' behavior?"
Should be feasible. Though Newton Village would have to say that "the magician is a bit reclusive, I'm afraid, and prefers to not be meddled with. Unless there's a problematic Monster nearby, thankfully!"
("All of which is true, more-or-less. 'Tis better to never lie outright if you can help it.")
@Robinton, I've been leaning heavily on the biology and magic (and magic biology) side, so would something like a Biomancer Tree be possible? Otherwise I'm probably likely to be Unpredictable.
That could work, I think, though... Do you have any idea of what actions are you looking for? Nearly all of Growth is technically biology, but then so is Movement Research.
If you want a
lot of write-ins, but a few official actions... You might be able to get good boosts to a few official actions
and certain select write-ins?
Btw,
@Robinton. Are... are we on Mars?
Mars has just over half of Earth's radius (Mars: ~2100 miles). You're on a world with a radius almost exactly equal to Earth (~4000 miles).
But, you are entirely correct that, relative to the sun and other planets, you are in roughly the same position as Mars is in the Sol System.
Though, to add a few more details, your solar system has five rocky planets (the fifth is
icy; the third is quite similar to Mars and had the semi-self-sustaining colony) and three gas giants (two of which have amazing rings; the closer had a maybe-almost-inhabitable moon that was slated for the second self-sustaining colony in a century or so).
Werewolves: I've gotten confirmation that they do, indeed, exist when I asked about monster humanoids.
Thanks for reminding me; I'd almost forgotten that one actually.
Looked back at this post after you mentioned it was updated, and decided to post a few guesses (and remind you of a few Word Of God answers as well).
Ah, wonderful speculation!
Why Nemesis Sends Weaker Monsters: It probably takes time and a great deal of effort to make a stronger monster, especially while making sure it doesn't maul you in the process. Odds are, our nemesis didn't actually have the vines at first (otherwise they would've eaten him), and sent the Kraken due to being conveniently available already (perhaps due to using it to destroy a colony of sentient kelp?). In other words, sending stronger monsters is a sign that our nemesis is taking us more seriously, because he feels like he needs to make stronger (and thus harder to control) monsters to fight us.
Monsters/Minions take time and effort - This is generally correct, though exceptions exist.
Didn't have the Vines at first; did have the Kraken - Likely correct. Almost certainly correct on the first account (those Vines were
young). Not many foes are exactly spec'd to fight a Magical Forest, for some reason...
May I add: Keep your eyes open, and keep your minds open.
Where Did The Ruins Go: The vampires strike me as being the sort to try to erase any sign that their enemies ever existed. Odds are, they demolished the ruins during the time between them claiming dominance over the world and the Last Star turning into an anti-vamp kill-sat.
Very plausible. Totally in-character for the Vampires.
Of course, "there are ruins, but this square mile was a remote Forest even before the Cataclysm" is also true - and known IC, from some of the tales of the oldest Trees here.
Wolves and Tavish: Near as I can tell, at least one Wolf attempted to attack the Tavish children. Their mother drove that Wolf off, and apparently traumatized it pretty thoroughly in the process judging by the fact that we have a request not to send that Wolf anywhere near the village without backup.
Very close.
If you ask - In midwinter, a single year after her mother's death, Annabeth Tavish saw her little brothers about to be torn apart by wolves.
She killed two wolves with her bare hands, and the rest ran.
Her left wrist and right shoulder ached for nearly a full year thereafter.
One of your Wolves was there - one of those who ran - and remembers. Deeply wary of Annabeth, but equally deeply respects 'defense of kin.'
One of the other Wolves that ran, would be here too... except that he starved to death, mere weeks later.
It wasn't a kind winter.
@Robinton
If cautious wins now, can we later switch to friendship?
Will there be chances to learn more about her/ask her questions?
Yes.
Yes, but with some difficulty if you're not willing to reveal yourselves.
