Gravity fuckery to make you look larger than you actually are, meaning some weapons fire will simply streak off into space that would otherwise have been properly targeted.

It's too slow for the stuff on the front page. This is a special action due to special circumstances, as specified by the 'crash research' line, and is harder than it would otherwise be.

After this battle is done we will need to grow that Hyper Tree and consider getting out of this system. I do not like the idea of us staying in what is essentially the front line of an interstellar (or intergalactic) war. It would not bode well for the health of the forest to stay in such a place. Even if we don't leave the system immediately after the battle we will still want/need the option to leave if things get too dicey.

I am a growth tree so I can't chip in much, but firing our laser seems like a good plan, and I think penetrating the ECM is efficient if you don't have a bonus to offense or defense.

I agree that firing off the laser so soon may be a mistake. I was torn between trying to research the Missiles or a way to counter the ECM as a Focus, so will just put both in here.
One can never go wrong with more crystal shards traveling at an appreciable fraction of C.
 
increasing our success range is even better than it appears at first, because the Loop Tree converts automatic successes into dice and then triples successes
