Does the Worm's next tier also affect the cooperation-granted successes, @Raising Kittens ?

We are currently investing 16 dice to the research cooperation, but only need 10. If the successes aren't converted to 3d6, it would be worthwhile for some of you to switch to other research. If they are converted, then: good thinking!

Edit: And since then, several more people have added dice to it... we're far beyond the 10 dice needed now.

Though, for any heart trees listening - that plan for riding the high sun activity phase into magnitude 6, most or all of our collector trees upgraded, and ultimately having over 500 growth power per turn? One place that it cannot recover from if it goes wrong is getting the worm upgrade. We need to finish this phase of feeding the worm by the end of next turn.
Superconducting Roots will take 2-3 turns of concerted effort at least to get done and we can not depend on the worm to give us what we want. Also, we should not feed the worm too much, it is getting creepier and creepier with each level it gets. I do not trust it.

I agree with Voidseer. The Worm is not to be trusted.

Hopefully a valid write-in. The Ingaba are probably better at tracking objects in space and predicting their movement, so even though the Forest can't really tell what's going on with the comet at our current level of sensing, it should be pretty easy for them to crunch the numbers.

If they'll give us a solid orbit track for it, we can be in position to harvest the tasty, tasty resources whenever it arrives. Which I'm guessing is a couple turns from now.

Upgrading a Skimmer Tree to an Elder Skimmer Tree would make this even more effective, since we could vote to set an intercept course and have it implemented automatically without needing as much future attention.

[X][Tree] Root Tree

At the very edges of the Forest's senses, a mass of dust and rock curled in, a distant thing. It was large. Not so large as the Forest, or the mobile shipyard the Ingaba were taking apart, but it was the largest other thing moving that the Forest had ever detected.

If the Tree could dig its Roots into it, they might get a wealth of resources from it!

Now, how was the Forest going to accomplish that?

[An exceptionally large comet has entered detection range]

Intercepting the Comet will be nearly impossible without the Elder Skimmer Tree's 'Set a Course' choice. We need that upgrade, stat.

Which is to say, with worm lvl 3, and superconductive roots, we can then *multiplicatively* stack a 2x multiplier on top of high solar activity's doubling of collector tree effectiveness.

Prime, I think your plan may have a flawed assumption.

Does Superconducting Roots apply to Collector Trees? Collectors are tagged Crystal, not Magnetic:

Collector Tree (Crystal) x14:
[ ][Action] Research Superconductive Root Network (Magnetic)*
-Samples of superconducting materials transfer energy extremely efficiently between nodes. Implementing a similar system should allow for a drastic increase in action efficiency.
-Effect: All Magnetic-aligned or derived Growth, Survival, Offensive and Defensive actions succeed on a 3, 4, 5, or 6. Automatically implemented.
-Requires 100 successes to research. 0/100

[X][Tree] Root Tree
Sacrificing to the worm is currently a survival action, so root trees are inefficient at it.

Speaking of though...

There is a lot of root trees voting for grow the forest when we need 5.25 growth on top of the focus actions to get it - with our current multiplier that's 2 dice successes, so 10 dice would be more than enough to be fairly sure but from the vote count it looks like we're getting at least twice that.

The main thing we need root trees for this turn and next is upgrading collector trees: Over the four turn span, each Elder Collector Tree upgrade we complete will produce 55 growth, while only costing 40 - and we get to keep the upgraded tree after! Even for the direct application of growing the forest, right now it is more efficient to [][ACTION] Upgrade Elder Collector Tree

I might decide on focus actions later.

EDIT: I changed my mind:
