Star Wars: The Chosen One (An Anakin Skywalker Quest)

It feels as if the Jedi option is their for story purposes the GM has in mind. While the padawal option was a gimmick. Though I think that we could have so much more fun with the non Jedi option the bandwagon is to strong. Still I want to know space karate rather than letting it fall to the wayside for some laser sword.

[X] [Story] Leave with Master Zan and Join the Followers of Palawa
*coughs politely*
We can study under our current master afterwards, and train in the art during.
Might I suggest the write-in vote I made?

[] [Story] Write-in: Go with Qui-Gon and join the Jedi. Tell Master Zan about the offer to study at the Jedi academy. Say that it was a dream of ours to become a Knight, but that training under her has been an honor. Ask if, upon passing the Trials, we could come study under her once more. If she says yes, ask her if there's a means to contact her on her home planet and if she has any independent study materials we could use while at the Academy. If she says no, express our regret.

I'm actually not a huge fan of the frustrated option, but I'm a huge supporter of becoming a Jedi. Becoming Jedi Lords also really appeals to me, kind of a new generation of Jedi type of thing.

I really want to shut out the option of the Coruscanti.

Also, it feels kinda unbalanced that the training with the Jedi would get us so much more even with free time while the folowers of Palawa would only get us one skill. It doesn't really grok with what would make sense for the Jedi temple.

If Anakin was training as a youngling, it'd make sense for him to have very little, if any, free time to meet with other people/train outside of his lessons. Sacrifice flexibility for a broad range of skills to be learned. While Palawa should allow us to have comparatively more free time to spend on options, because we're only learning one thing there, rather than everything like the Jedi apparently would.

We can leave the Coruscanti Jedi. And can't we have multiple destinies? :p
One destiny is quite a bit, two would crush a person ;p

The main issue people voting for the Jedi have not addressed is how Palpatine will be on us like a white on rice. I don't see any upside of coming under his scope and being a Jedi will put us on his scope. It is a matter of how much. If we are just another Jedi, we will get purged. If we are the Chosen One, then there will be an attempt to recruit us, either purged or become a Sith.

Being a Jedi Lord is cool, but that is against the laws of the Republic, Russan Reformation. Palpatine controls the Republic and will use that as an excuse to clamp down on wayward Jedi. 'Look at those Jedi causing trouble. We need to have them all register and be a part of the military during the Clone Wars so we can coordinate our strategy.' Then Order 66 to wipe everyone out. That is why being a Jedi Lord is impossible with Palpatine already in power.

There just isn't time to become powerful enough either personally or politically to stop him. We only have a few to no years from becoming a Knight and the Clone Wars starting. Becoming a Coruscanti Jedi means we are either going to become a Sith or will be forced to go on the run. A lot of pointless drama for little gain in my opinion. The only upside is if we manage to save all the Holocrons from the Temple before it is purged/captured. The amount of knowledge contained is too much to move due to the sheer scope of the physical storage needed, it is a large galaxy. The holocrons don't seem that valuable/important when we already have a Jedi and Sith one.

Done ^^

Did you read some of our past posts? We can continue training Teras Kasi at the Temple, there are Jedi who do know it.

Also do people here not want to eventually have Palaptine as the main major antagonist of our quest? People voted for the Jedi ambition already, of course now we want to see if fulfilled before we part with the Jedi as a whole.
I actually want Darth Plagueis to stay alive and become the main villain.

We have been told there are Jedi who know teras kasi as well that we can continue training with amongst the Jedi order. Three were named earlier on the thread.

Yes I am aware of that fact, but have we considered that Teras Kasi might not be the only skill possable learn by going with zen. Their masters could be versed in combat skill we might not know about. It's one of the big reasons I am picking this option, we know what's available with Jedi but the unknown sounds more appealing than the beaten path.

Edit the X out as if you've already posted your choices as it would be counted as double-voting.

I don't agree - not all holocrons contain the same information. Even if we take ~3 or something of them it would be good. And if we get the opportunity to travel around then we get xp bonus, the opportunity to set up a network for later, etc. It is, imo, fairly inarguable that we'd be on Palpatine's list, though.

I'm not that familiar w/ SW's timeline, would someone mind explaining when in relation to the Clone Wars the Jedi purge starts??

The main problem I see is that we join the Followers of Palawa, its going to much harder to learn lightsaber skills and force abilities. Also, I still think facing down Palpatine is going to be at least part of our destiny. It was in cannon, while Anakin never faced down Abeloth. I'm thinking if we run from our destiny, its just going to make it harder and more painful in the longrun. Lastly, being in the center of action on Coruscant will net much more XP in the long run versus chilling out on some backwater.

Alright, I'm not going to be voting for how Anakin feels about the loss because I can't characterize how I'd actually want it to go and I'm not really happy with the extant options. I will however be voting for

[X] [Story] Leave with Master Zan and Join the Followers of Palawa

I just like that option more. Also, for all those shipping Aayla for whatever reason... she's 8 years older than Anakin. She's at least a padawan already, if not knighted. She's not an Initiate. Jedi Vos doesn't spend much time in the Temple either, so she's not going to be around to socialize much with either.

Also, a note for those concerned that not joining now means never being a Jedi, you don't need to be part of any Jedi Order to become a Jedi Knight. If you walk the path of the Jedi as best you can? The Force itself will provide the training and the Trials to become a Knight. That's canon.

Edit: I found a write in I liked

If we go to the Jedi Temple -- as it seems the majority wants to -- do we have to follow the stereotypical Jedi Knight path? Or could we be, like, a Jedi Shadow or a Jedi Watchman or some kind of Jedi archaeologist that investigates old Jedi ruins? @Arthellion

The wookiepedia says the Coruscant academy sends initiates & knights & so forth to other academies periodically.

Teras Kasi is the main combat skill of the Followers of Palawa, they are unlikely to have another special combat style. Any other combat skill they'd teach would probably be generic skills like standard CQC or shooting with a blaster.

Spending 5-12 years on doing that just so we can master Teras Kasi doesn't sound interesting to me when Jedi training would teach us a whole bunch of a new stuff.

I don't think we even have to become a Knight, if we want to leave they're not going to keep us there against our will.

They will all be light side holocrons. No dark side techniques. But just getting into position to taking them when the Jedi fall is a huge commitment. We could do the same as a visiting Jedi from another sect when Palpatine tries his purge of the temple. Still that would probably put us on his radar. Being on Palpatine's radar is just so negative that I can't see why we would risk it.

As for the timeline.
32 BBY, current date
22 BBY, Start of Clone Wars, Anakin Knighted
19 BBY, Order 66, Empire Forms

The QM stated that there is no drawback from learning Force Techniques from a Holocron besides not developing a personal relationship with someone.

I will agree that the XP gain from being in the center of action will be high, but the risk will be a lot higher. We just can't beat Palpatine. We need to work our way up before facing him. I would also like the freedom to travel without the entire Empire after us.

We get contacts that aren't Jedi or Jedi friends, who are likely to be purged by the Empire. Sure we can gain a lot of low level skills, but Mastery of any skill takes time. So we would be spending the same time mastering skills taught by the Jedi. The only thing we really gain is lightsaber skills since those are physical. We have holocrons for Force Powers.

We have to become a Knight to complete the ambition. Also there was a huge issue where the Jedi took a child and the mother wanted them back. Jedi Child. The Jedi said no, since once they started training they couldn't stop. So that means we most likely have to stay until we are a Knight or run away as a Dark Jedi.

I just mean that if we end up at the Temple, then it would be kind of neat not to get the typical Jedi Knight experience that permeates so many fanfics and quests aka "go on mission, talk to locals, someone shoots at you as things go horribly wrong, Jedi triumph over evil". The Order isn't just Jedi Knights after all, and Anakin would probably only have heard of the Knights and not of any other part of the Order.
