Hmm...if Ani gets more "lawful", then he'll probably have a harder time going against authority figures like Palpatine and the Jedi Council. Perhaps it would be better to try to get more "chaotic" points?

Not necessarily. Palpatine mostly wormed his way into Anakin's good graces by feeding his ego. I'm thinking the more chaotic we are, the easier time he's going to have doing this.

Defiance + Justified would have resulted in determined trait according to GM. One of the only two positive traits we could have gotten from that vote.

Remember we are a fucking 8 year old, we are not supposed to be a saint, quite the opposite in fact.
I disagree with "quite the opposite." I disagree most strongly.

And "Determined" could have arguably been earned just from pushing through with our ambition to befriend Owen in spite of how much he hated us and Shmi, as well as our severe failure that ended in fistcuffs. That we didn't get it falls under how the GM views the character versus how we do. This disagreement is just a case in point, incidentally.

Also, there was no way to predict that a 9-year old could get "depressed" and stay that way for such a long time. If depression lasts a whole year AFTER the year when you made those choices you regret, you're months overdue getting prescribed medication. I'm personally rather surprised the depression survived a month, let alone over a year, considering that completing an ambition is generally enough for anyone, especially kids, to go back to being happy and pleased with their life. Or just for some time to pass and for the latest distraction to show up.

Tl;Dr: You're overreacting because the disconnect between the Author's portrayal of the character and our expectations hasn't been resolved yet. The quest hasn't gone on long enough for that.

Well that was a Derp on my part. Mild depression was meant to be removed at end of prologue 3.

I'll fix it

It's a damned if you do and damned if you don't thing. Palpatine has angles of attack however we put Anakin down as in the lawful vs chaos scale.

If Anakin is trusting of authority figures? He'll try to use that. If Anakin disdain authority? Be can use that too by either flattering Anakin's ego or exploiting other means like that.

Palpatine didn't get to wh3re he is by being a one trick pony.

The most important thing we can do to guard against such manipulation is to give Anakin as strong of a personal foundation as possible, mental, moral, and emotional.

:p

I know that you're probably joking, but I feel it bears saying anyway. Please don't actually make Jar Jar the Sith Master. I really don't want this quest to devolve into crack, it's far too good for that.

I definitely wouldn't be opposed to the idea of Darth Plagueis surviving in this timeline though. That could lead to all kinds of interesting possibilities.

All Da Chosen points for stroking my Ego!

lol

But nah. Definitely just joking. Seriously, the only reason I put that ambition there originally was as a joke. I didn't think people would take it as seriously as they have :p

What if Jar Jar revealed a more serious, nuanced side, perhaps via a vision that Anakin sees?

EDIT: Really, thats all that the Phantom Menace needed. A scene at the end with a serious Jar Jar talking to Palpatine.

I like jar jar and the op said it was just a joke and he wasn't intending for it to be taken seriously

I mean...its +10 Dark Side points at least...you actually have to kill him or he dies of natural causes for it to go away..
