I need to figure out what Weiss drinks, since she's definitely not going to participate in the casual alcoholism of Fairy Tail
It would also remind Weiss too much of her mother Willow who wallowed away in her drunken stupor after Jacques took over her father's company.

Weiss might go with milkshakes I guess. Or tea since she's a Schnee.

Wild animals still exist on Remnant. It's not what they're used to, but killing an actual wolf would not be too strange for then
Oh okay, that's fair. It might also help that Earth Land humans are also tougher than they look, taking hits and appear bruised than bleeding afterwards.

Chapter 8
Erza walked into the house she shared with Ruby and Mirajane, requipping into her pajamas as she did. She blinked as she saw Ruby and a blond haired girl about the same age talking over cups of hot chocolate. Ruby looked up as she walked closer, jumping up and rushing to pull Erza into a hug, "are you alright?"

"We can talk about it later," Erza waved off quickly, not wanting to spill her woes with a stranger in the house. Ruby seemed to catch the message, glancing over at the girl, "Yang, I think it's about time you head back to the dorms."

"What? But-"

"Please, Yang," Ruby said.

"Alright," Yang sighed, "Who's this, by the way?"

"Erza Scarlet, my girlfriend," Ruby said, and Yang's brow furrowed, a clear look of confusion on her face.

"I thought Mira-"

"She is," Ruby said, "it's complicated. I'll see you tomorrow."

Yang gave Ruby a hug before stepping out of the door, letting it swing shut behind her.

"Sorry about that," Ruby said.

"Who's she?"

"Yang. When we were at their country we did a test to see if I was actually Tai's daughter… I am. That was my sister, Yang. I'm mentoring her team until they get the hang of magic. Now, what's wrong?"

Ruby asked this as she guided Erza into the living room, where Mira was reading a novel. She shut it, putting it aside as Erza was sandwiched between them.

"...I had to go back to the Tower of Heaven," Erza finally said, voice shaken, "while we were at the casino, everyone showed up… Sho, Simon, Wally, Millianna…they incapacitated the rest of the team and teleported me to the Tower… they thought I had betrayed them. That's what Jellal told them. And Jellal was there too, he… He wanted to use to use me as a stabilizer for the R-System's Lacrima.. He… He killed Simon… And… And me and Natsu had to kill him."

Erza felt the hug come from both sides, cradling her. The girls knew she had unresolved feelings for Jellal, and now those feelings would forever be tied to his death.

"Let it out," Ruby said, "we're here for you."

Tears began to flow out of Erza's eye as she broke down in the one place she was absolutely safe.

Blake walked through the streets of Magnolia, taking in the short distance between Fairy Hills, the female dorm all three girls were staying at on Ruby's tab. It did make Blake feel bad about how much they were taking advantage of the other girl's generosity, but it was that or live on the streets with nothing to eat.

Blake didn't want to do that again. It had sucked the first time, after she abandoned the White Fang with nothing but the clothes on her back.

It was strange, while Blake had seen a couple of people with Faunus traits at the Guild, she had seen none out "in the wild", to use a perhaps too on the nose pun.

She entered the guild early enough in the day that there weren't a ton of people milling about. Wakaba was there, smoking his corn pipe. Reedus, an incredibly rotund man wearing a tophat, was sketching something Blake couldn't make out…

And Cana was already drinking herself stupid.

Blake wasn't sure what was wrong with the girl, but she seemed the worst of Fairy Tails habit for casual alcoholism. Everyone in the Guild she had meet enjoyed drinking, but Cana seemingly did nothing but.

Approaching the counter, one of the women, Ashley, looked up and smiled, "the regular, Blake?"

It was strange having a regular after four days, but… "Yeah."

Blake found a seat alone rather easily, propping up her book on shadow magic and began to read it when the doors to the guild hall were kicked open.

"The usual, Natsu?" Ashley called without turning from preparing Blake's breakfast.

"Yeah!" "Natsu", a boy with salmon pink hair, wearing a sleeveless vest and a scaled scarf said, while a blue cat, walking on its hind legs, walked in sniffing the air.

"Is that salmon?" It asked, and Blake's brain malfunctioned. A… What… A… She knew this world was weird compared to Remnant but a bipedal talking cat?

"It's not for you, Happy, you'll have to wait your turn."

Happy. The cat was named Happy. Of course it was, why wouldn't it be?

Natsu walked further into the room, letting the door swing shut in time for Yang to catch it and push it open, "Hey! Can I get the regular?"

"Of course, Yang," Ashley said, "so, how was the job, Natsu?"

"It was nothing," Natsu said, taking a flaming shot from Ashley and downing it, "the rest of the team should be in soon, you can ask them what they thought."

Yang was eating an omelet when a woman settled across from her, a severe looking redhead in a suit of armor. Swallowing, she said, "Erza, right?"

"Yes, and you are Yang?" Yang nodded, "let me make this clear, I don't care if some form of test said you are Ruby's sister, if you do anything to hurt her, it will be on your head."

Ok, barring where she first met Ruby and hasn't believed her, "I would never hurt Ruby!"

"Hmmph," Erza huffed out, before continuing, "you can say that, it may very well be true, but I'm warning you nonetheless. I won't stand by and watch her be hurt again."

Yang wanted to explode, to fight the woman in front of her… But she remembered what happened when she fought Ruby, and had the distinct feeling the same thing would happen again if she fought Erza.

"Are you bullying the new girl?" Mirajane said teasingly as she approached with two plates of food.

"Just laying down the law," Erza said, taking one, "Ruby slept in?"

"Getting ready for a job towards the north coast, apparently some bandits are causing a ruckus. Might even be a Dark Guild."

"Dark Guild?" Yang asked, since she was aware that job would most likely involve her.

"Guilds that run without the legal sanction of the Magic Council. Ones who do things like assassinations and the like."

"We're not going to have to kill them, are we?" Yang said, cautiously. She didn't think she was ready to take a life.

"Oh, no. Deaths are an acceptable accident on these kinds of jobs, but they're first and foremost looking for captures."

"I might come with you. Ruby and I have both been so busy we haven't had time to be together in a while," Erza said.

Weiss was practicing Solid Script magic with Levy, who happened to use the same type and was a great help at explaining what Weiss was doing right and wrong, when she heard Cana deadpan, "Gray, your clothes."

"Oh, for crying out loud!" A voice she didn't recognize said, and Weiss turned…

…and her face exploded with a blush as she did so. Standing there was an, admittedly handsome, man around her age wearing nothing but his underwear, "wha- wha- wha-?"

"Oh that's Gray," Levy said with a dismissive laugh, "he does that all the time, don't let it get to you."

How was she supposed to not let a near naked man get to her? That was…

Weiss turned to Levy, a blush still on her face, "let's- let's just continue the lesson, please?"

Thoughts on the chapter?

Lol, Weiss x Gray? With some Juvia thrown in too? Also love how Yang has to deal with people threatening her and Tai if they hurt Ruby😅

Honestly, Juvia can be a satellite character around Gray too much and can't function on her own without his presence. True, he did open her eyes and she reform to Fairy Tail member but she gotta chill.

On the other hand, Yang at least won't try to run away from responsibility unlike a certain bandit queen wannabe that is Raven.

I've always felt Juvia was just as damaged as any other female character in Fairy Tail and this latched on to Gray.

Yang should be kinda okay too since Jellal's usage of Heavenly Body can be co-opted, Blake depends on how you want her use Shadow magic.
True and there are some techniques of Justice and Elsie Crimson from Edens Zero that Yang can use as well, it's just Heavenly Body Magic all but in name.

I mean Erza Knightwalker's Ten Commandments Spear came from Rave Master after all.

Chapter 9
"What are you doing here?" Yang looked up at the vitriol in Ruby's voice. People were already beginning to crowd around her, so she rushed to get a spot to figure out what was going on.

Ruby was standing in front of a man that looked like a punk, long, black, spiky hair cascading down his back, at least fifteen stud piercings between his nose, eyebrows and ears. He even seemed to have metal going through his arms, and also seemed to have bandages wrapped around his midsection and neck. Ruby was pointing a glowing spear at him, which he responded to with a forced calm, "Don't think I like this anymore than you do, Chloris, I just joined because I needed somewhere to work and didn't want to leave Magnolia."

"What you need is to be in prison. How did you even escape jail time? The Council declared Phantom a Dark Guild and told you all to disband!"

"And I disbanded," the man said.

"And came here?" Ruby said, obviously miffed by that.

"Obviously. What would I even have jail time for? You took me out of the fight in the first battle."

"Destroying our Guildhall? Crucifying Levy, Jet and Droy?" Ruby snapped, and Yang heard an intake of breath from Weiss, while her own eyes trailed over to the bandage covered Levy. That was how she got banged up?

"Oh, I see, when Fairy Tail causes property damage it's alright, but when we do it-"

"We don't break the D.I.T!" Ruby snapped, pulling back the spear as if to thrust it, when-

"Now, now, Ruby," Makarov said, "I personally gave my approval of Gajeel joining us."

Ruby growled, before letting the spear fade and turning, "BSL! Out front, ten minutes, we got a job that needs doing."

"Lucy and I are coming along, Ruby," Erza called, pulling a blonde up by the shoulder.

"I- fine, just know we're giving the reward to the girls to let them get on their feet."

"Acceptable," Erza nodded, "I'll hitch my luggage to the back of the carriage."

Lucy Heartfilia was feeling rather confused. Why was she on a job if she wasn't going to get any pay from it? Well, other than "Erza said", which was a perfectly valid reason on its own.

She watched the white haired girl pouring some sort of powder into her rapier, finally asking, "What is that?"

"Dust?" The girl said, then her brows met, "Shouldn't you know that?"

"Dust? Like, the stuff that builds up if you don't clean something long enough?" Lucy asked in turn.

"No, I- you don't know what Dust is?"

"Yang mentioned something about it, but didn't go into detail," Ruby shrugged from where she was snuggled up against Erza, resting her head on the shoulder pad of Erza's armor like it was comfortable, "said something about powering her motorcycle?"

"Well, yes, that is one use of Dust," Weiss conceded, "but it's used for much more than that! It generates a different elemental effect based on the color! I… You really haven't heard of it before?"

"Don't mind her," Blake said, reading a book, "she's the heiress to the biggest supplier of Dust in the world."

"I'd say it sounds like a crutch," Erza said, "but Mystogan uses nothing but Lacrima powered staves and he's an S-Rank."

"I knew I was forgetting someone when I was listing them," Ruby muttered.

"You're an heiress?" Lucy asked, and Weiss nodded, "isn't it the worst?"

"I- what?"

"I'm the daughter of the Heartfilia Konzern," Lucy explained, "I left them behind to join Fairy Tail."

"You… Left it behind?" Weiss said in surprise.

"Yep, and I don't regret it at all. Fairy Tail is my family now, it's as simple as that."

Ruby stared out over the camp from the edge, sighing, "Zeref cultists. It's always Zeref cultists."

"Zeref?" Blake asked quietly.

"The most evil wizard to ever live," Ruby said quietly, "go get the others."

Blake slinked away, leaving Ruby to watch the crowd chanting prayers to Zeref. About twenty minutes later they all arrived, and Ruby looked over them, "Ready?"

They nodded, and Ruby put her hands together, stretching them out with a longbow forming between them, and pulled back the string to manifest a glowing arrow, "White God's Baldr Bow."

The arrow flew over the gathered cultists heads, before unnaturally curving down and going straight again to pierce through the preacher's chest. Her and Erza were already moving by that point, Ruby manifesting a sword of black tinged white light as Erza requipped a sword. Behind her, she heard Yang slam her fists together, glancing back to see a glowing aura had surrounded her with flames. Blake had sunk into the shadows, and Weiss had created a large snowflake glyph burning with red energy while scrawling the word "lightning" on her rapier.

Flicking her wrist, a giant fireball came from the seal, crashing into three cultists and making them collapse. Weiss then began to seemingly skate over to them, thrusting her rapier into one's shoulder and shocking him.

Yang launched forwards like a bullet, smashing into a group of five cultists, grabbing one by the robe and whipping him into his four friends. Bolts of darkness magic hit her, and it just seemed to make her stronger, throwing the man into the shooter.

Lucy swung a key down, saying "Open, gate of the Golden Bull, Taurus!"

A minotaur appeared then, naked except for a pair of briefs and carrying a giant ax, "Is it time for me to protect your perfect body, Luuuuuucy?"

What the-?

Blake rose from the shadows in the center of five cultists, slashing out and incapacitating each one. She then sank back into the shadows to dodge a beam of dark magic from the cult leader, who was standing despite the arrow in his chest.

Well, that wouldn't do at all.

Ruby crouched before leaping over the heads of the cultists and bringing her glowing foot down on the leader's head, smashing him into the ground while Erza cut through the cultists, not even bothering with any of her fancier armors or weapons.

Night had fallen at their camp a while ago, and most people were asleep. The exceptions were Blake and Ruby. Blake sat in the darkness, while Ruby tended the fire.

They had to stay the night at the cultists' camp while they waited for the nearby contingent of the royal army to come and pick them up. Ruby had called them with a strange orb earlier, and they had said they would be there by first light.

Finally, Blake broke the silence, "So you're really Yang's sister?"

"Looks like it," Ruby said casually, roasting a marshmallow over the flame, "You're close?"

"She's my partner… Not romantically, I mean, Beacon pairs as many students as possible up, and Yang and I were."

"Hmm," Ruby nodded.

"So how did you get here? I mean, you have to be from Remnant, so how did you…?"

"Honestly? I dunno. My earliest memories are living with my "father"," Ruby spat the word like a curse, "and siblings in Breidablik."

"You have siblings? Other than Yang?"

"Had. And we weren't really siblings, we barely got to interact if it wasn't training time. I mostly kept to myself, but if I had to guess, I'd say I was closest with Ten. They were a scrawny boy with a wolf's tail, gray hair, and silver eyes. That was the one thing we all had in common, we had sliver eyes."

"You think that's a trait he was looking for, when he was taking you?" Blake asked.

"That's my best guess, yeah."

"You seem… Casual, about this."

"It's something that happened in my past," Ruby shrugged, "I can't change it, and until I figure out where the bastard is I can't get revenge for it. So I just gotta live with it. I know people who are trapped and damaged by their past, Erza was one of them for a long time. But me? I just always accepted it as something that happened and moved on with life. I have a family with Grandpa, that dumbass Laxus, and the rest of Fairy Tail. That's good enough for me."

"Didn't you kick Laxus in the neck when we first got to the guild?"

"What cousins, adopted we may be, don't fight from time to time? I like to think it deflates both of ours egos, because we never know who's going to win."

"What about her, what her deal?" Blake asked, pointing towards Lucy.

"Wouldn't know, she's new to the guild and we've mostly been doing other stuff meaning we barely cross paths. She's part of Erza's team, that's all I know, other than what she told you in the carriage."

"Do you know anything about her magic? She summoned that cowman…"

"A bit. Celestial Spirit Wizards. They're fairly rare, because you need the keys she has to summon them and form a contract. Most of them are stuck with Silver Keys, I'm impressed she has more than one gold."

"So it's a mutual relationship," Blake said in relief.

"Yeah," Ruby said, eating her s'more, "get some sleep, Blake, I'll take the watch."

I want them to do one more job before the BfFT starts, but dunno what.

The Protagonist Centered Morality of Fairy Tail guild in a nutshell and Gajeel is not wrong about it.

Fairy Tail often gets away with property damage because Makarov and Councilor Yajima (he will retire post-Tower of Heaven incident) keep covering for them every time the Magic Council brings it up. Not to mention, the recovery and rebuilding after every property damage don't come cheap.

It's more surprising the Magic Council didn't already declare Fairy Tail a Dark Guild and strip Makarov of his Ten Wizard Saints title long ago since they keep doing it anyway with slaps on the wrist.

Yes, Gajeel has a point, but Ruby's rebuttal is equally true. Gajeel, personally started the war by breaking the Dispute Interdiction Treaty and attacking Fairy Tail. By all rights, he more than anyone other than Jose, should have faced jail time for the Phantom/Fairy war.

It's that the property damage Gajeel commited is directly illegal.

Good point although I checked that in the Fairy Tail wiki that apparently Jose's fate was unknown other than he lost his Wizard Saint title and Phantom Lord disbanded, and that's it. No mention of him being imprisoned after violating the D.I.T. or anything as if he disappeared.

Guess in your story, Jose Porla was imprisoned for starting a Guild War alongside everyone else as Ruby expected Gajeel to be there and find him at Fairy Tail instead.

My assumption is that they used to but stopped because the result of declaring a guild a dark guild was that they went whole hog over the line. We also see that unlike Alvarez, the Magic Council lacks the top tier mages necessary to enforce the rules. Its honestly surprising that Grimoire Hearts bothers with all the movement given the disparity in combat power though the Council might just Etherion them if they knew their location.

Yeah, I find that weird considering the Council got the top 4 mages. And that Mashima is known to make governments useless in some of his works.

1. The Empire - from Rave Master where they're completely powerless to the might of Demon Card and other factions that used Dark Bring, and then their Imperial Military HQ got destroyed by Deep Snow, an undercover Demon Card member as one of the Four Generals, who took the Imperial Guardians unit with him.

2. The Cosmic Government - from Edens Zero where one of their own Oracion Seis Interstellar, Cure, had been propping up new Oracion Seis Galactica members underneath their noses after the defeat of the previous ones as his twisted way of bringing forth the "balance of good and evil" in the universe.

I always got the impression you needed to do really heinous shit to be declared a Dark Guild, like, Assassination and active Zeref worship is the bottom line.

I'm curious on people's opinion to Ruby's feelings about her backstory. I felt it was refreshingly different to have a character that doesn't angst over their past. Does she want to kill Light? Oh, yeah, but other than that she just lives with it without it affecting her

That was my thoughts on her too, kinda mad funny how this Ruby is nonchalant about it. I very much so get the 'shit happens' vibe.

I mean that's also canon Ruby's MO, we know she didn't necessarily have an easy childhood (if one listens to the lyrics of Red Like Roses Part 2) and the reason she gets super depressed in Volume 9 is her own guilt over her own failures. When something happens to her she gets a bit introspective, maybe a bit angry, but bounces back to positive pretty quickly.

That was another goal. I wanted to establish that while this Ruby might be a bit more violent, sweary and all around crasser, she's still intrinsically Ruby Rose at her core, she just has different behavior because she was raised in a different context.

Chapter 10
"Ruby, Laxus, Erza, come over here," Makarov called. Ruby stood up from where she was in the middle of talking with Mira and made her way over, Erza doing the same. There was a crack of lightning, and Laxus was in front of him. Ruby rolled her eyes. Showoff.

"What's up, Grandpa?" Ruby asked.

"I have an important job for you. King Toma is to travel to Remnant for negotiations next week, and wants some members of Fairy Tail, as the guild that made first contact, with him alongside his royal guard. I want you three, at least, to go. If you want to bring the Thunder Legion, BSL and the strongest team, that's up to you. They're giving a substantial reward to each person who goes."

"Right," Ruby nodded.

"Looking forward to going back, Ruby?" Laxus said, tauntingly, "hell, maybe you can get rid of those three rookies that have been hanging off you. They certainly aren't going anywhere special."

"You don't know that," Ruby retorted, "though I am going to bring them along."

"And I'll bring my team," Erza said.

"You're both overreacting, they're a bunch of magicless weaklings, the three of us could crush anyone they throw at all, even all at once."

"Still, it's good for them to be brought home for a bit," Ruby said.

"Then get your gear and get on the train."

"Yep," Ruby said, raising a hand as she turned away, "Girls, get ready, we have a mission."

---

Weiss sat across from a (thankfully clothed) Gray, glancing over at where Lucy was sitting next to Blake, Natsu lying on the opposite bench looking like he might vomit any second. Laxus was leaning against the window, looking queasy himself.

Weiss went back to thinking about Lucy. She couldn't imagine leaving her position to permanently join the (admittedly talented from what she'd seen) raucous guild permanently. Being heiress was something she had been raised for from the moment Winter had been disowned. It was a major part of her identity.

And more than anything, she couldn't believe she felt jealous towards the other girl.

Pushing those thoughts aside, she focused on where Ruby sat, not just with Erza, but Mirajane as well. Weiss would admit, she had seen the white haired girl occasionally tending the bar, and assumed that was her job and she was allowed to get lazy with it, not that she was a full fledged S-rank Wizard herself.

Then she looked at the back of her own hand, where the Fairy Tail guild mark sat proudly.

She'd have to decide if she wanted to cover it or not before the negotiations. If her father saw it somehow…

Ruby led the procession towards the short, white haired man, bending the knee as she did, Laxus, Mirajane, Erza and the Strongest Team immediately following. After a rough cough, from Ruby, BSL followed suit, "My king."

"Ruby Rose," Toma said, "please stand, I tell you this every time we meet, I'm not one for prostration. I recognize Laxus Dreyer, Erza Scarlet and Mirajane Strauss, who are the others?

"Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long," Ruby waved a hand over the three, "Three Remnantians that have been working as part of Fairy Tail as a sign of good faith from Vale."

"And Fairy Tail didn't see it fit to inform me?" Toma asked, "that is just like you people. May I ask if they've at least been treating you well, young ladies? I can't have my kingdom look bad."

"Very accommodating, sir," Weiss said, curtseying.

"And the other three are?"

"Natsu "Salamander" Dragneel, Gray Fullbuster, and Lucy Heartfilia."

"Any relationship to the Heartfilia Konzern? Also, why is that young man stripping naked?"

"Oh, for crying out loud!"

"I'm the former heiress. Please, judge me on my own merits, my king."

"A kingly procession indeed," Toma said, "now, shall we enter the portal? You go first, my safety is, of course, of the utmost importance."

"Of course, if we don't come back in five minutes, assume it isn't safe," Ruby said stepping through the portal and looking around. There was now a fairly advanced camp built around the portal, Huntsmen guarding the area. Ruby poked her head back through, "It should be safe."

Toma entered with a procession of the royal guard. Tai walked up, "King Toma?"

"Yes."

"I'm Tai-Yang Xiao Long, I'm in charge of this camp. We have several bullheads waiting to bring you to Beacon, from there you'll take an airbus to Vytal for the negotiations."

"Is there any reason we're doing it there?" Toma asked.

"It holds immense value to us, it's where the treaty to end our Great War and disband our armies foe the huntsmen took place," Tai explained.

"As good a reason as any," Toma said, "though I sincerely hope you don't intend to trying to make us disband our army.

Pyrrha was walking around the field around the Vytal historical building, which was to see use for the first time in eighty years soon. Councilors from every country had arrived the last few days, and supposedly the king of the mysterious Fiore was to arrive later today. She stopped as she heard Jaune cry, "Snow Angel!"

Weiss Schnee, wearing a pair of white gloves, looked over at them, before nudging Yang and Blake. They spoke to a cloaked girl with tattoos on her neck, and she nodded, after which they broke off from the crowd.

"Hello, Pyrrha," Weiss said, talking right past Jaune without missing a beat or showing any shame as he deflated.

"Where have you all been?" Pyrrha asked, "all Professor Goodwitch would say is that you had been selected for a long term mission and how it was a great honor for first years."

"We've been working with Fairy Tail, a guild in Fiore," Weiss explained, while Blake looked around the area.

"It's like a mini Vytal Festival, huh?" She said.

"Yes, it does seem that way. It's not every day we make contact with a new nation."

"Why don't we wander around for a bit?" Weiss said, "try the food?"

"That sounds delicious," Pyrrha looked at the dark haired girl that's hair lightened to red, a woman with redder hair than even Pyrrha, and a White haired woman in an elegant dress followed by a salmon haired boy, a blonde with her hair in a side tail and a black haired one who was slowly stripping- "Gray? You're stripping again."

"Damnit!" He swore, pulling his clothes back on.

"These are Erza Scarlet, Gray Fullbuster, Mirajane Strauss, Natsu Dragneel, Lucy Heartfilia, and my sister, Ruby Rose," Yang said.

"Hi," Ruby said, "Now, how about we get that food?"
