There just was an uneven number of students that year without Ruby, so they're a three man team. Weiss is the third member, it just uses it's last name to get BSL.
I see. And oof, Weiss might have to deal with the fact Blake, the team leader is the daughter of Ghira Belladonna, founder and first leader of the White Fang and chieftain of Menagerie.

With such obvious family name and the fact Blake had never bothered to change her name or appearance, Ozpin would know of it and contact Ghira and Kali who'd be worried of their daughter after she left them with Adam Taurus and his Vale branch that she defected away later, and willing to cooperate with certain conditions in order to allow Blake attend Beacon.

Not entirely wrong. Ruby's "Father" is the god of Light.
Then that means when Salem feels Ruby's White God Slayer Magic through her Grimm Seer she controls, she will definitely sense the familiar signature from the Brother God of Light and it will make her absolutely livid about it.

They only did that due to Ironwood manipulating events in the wake of the Breach, which made Ozpin look weak. They have no reason to bring him into what is a political matter for their nation.
Good point although I can see Ozpin talk to Ironwood about that when Oz's inner circle have their own meeting, and reassure the Atlas General that everything is under control. While telling him to keep a lookout just in case another portal like the one leading to Earth Land might appear anywhere at Mantle.

For some reason, I imagine Cinder Fall overhearing this in the background and find God Slayer Magic interesting. Imagining that if she had such magic plus the full Fall Maiden power, she'd be able to usurp Salem and become the dominator of Remnant.
Cinder doesn't so much want to dominate Remnant as desire enough power that no one can control her as she was controlled by her step family. Not going to change matters practically though.

They only did that due to Ironwood manipulating events in the waie of the Breach, which made Ozpin look weak. They have no reason to bring him into what is a political matter for their nation.
Less Ironwood manipulating matters and more they were scared and wanted the sole shown military on Remnant at hand which means concessions to those who control it.

Cinder doesn't so much want to dominate Remnant as desire enough power that no one can control her as she was controlled by her step family. Not going to change matters practically though.
Sounds like dominating over everyone to know their place in the Pecking Order anyway but yeah you have a point. This is gonna be fun to see how Cinder's Nefarious Plan is gonna fail because of White God Slayer Ruby.

That would be a convincing argument if the military in question wasn't already on hand. Remember, Ironwood brought them with him.
Plus the Atlas military helped out in containing the breach in the Volume 2 finale, which got the Vale Council to officially appoint Ironwood to be head of security for the Vytal Festival.

I can imagine the discussion between Ozpin and Ironwood in their private online meeting of the inner circle with Glynda, Qrow and Theodore about the unexpected turn of events with a portal to another world of magic and having to look out for Salem, knowing she will have undivided attention at it.

Chapter 6
It had been a week since the strange woman, the "God Slayer" as she had boastfully called herself, had arrived at Beacon and Weiss had to say…

She wasn't impressed.

Most of the time, the girl could be found in the dining hall, eating and drinking like a bottomless pig. When she wasn't, she was fighting anyone who challenged her to duels… And, admittedly, winning decisively, with nary an injury.

It had been satisfying to see Yang, who had been getting into fights near daily since they became a team, put in her place. But that didn't change the fact that the girl was a braggart and a glutton.

Weiss honestly wasn't sure why she was still around Beacon, and why the teachers were seemingly putting up with it. She wasn't a student, she wasn't a guest lecturer, she certainly wasn't a Huntress… So why?

Weiss was walking towards the airbus to go down into Vale when a woman who made her blink landed on the dock. She was wearing a red leotard, with her white hair spiked up, and had wings spreading from her back. A Faunus?

Then she transformed, her hair now long and trailing down her back the wings gone, and the dress replaced with a haute gothic dress.

"Hey," She said, gruffly, "can you tell me where to find Ruby Rose?"

That was the name of the "God Slayer" wasn't it?

"She's in the dining hall, most likely."

"Thanks," the beautiful woman said, walking past Weiss. After a moment of hesitation, she turned and followed the woman, curiosity getting the best of her.

Ruby was drinking the purple drink that came in a can, disliking the bubbly feeling that came with it when she heard footsteps approaching. Looking over, she stopped mid sip, a wide smile spreading across her face as she jumped up, "Mira!"

Sure enough, Mirajane Strauss was walking towards her, once Ruby saw her, she sped up slightly and fell into a hug. Ruby twirled her around before putting her down, "What are you doing here?"

"Things have been boring at the guild," Mira said, before pausing, "well, not completely boring…"

"Oh?"

"It turns out our dear Loke was actually the Celestial Spirit Leo all along," Mira said.

"Always knew there was something fishy about him," Ruby muttered, going back to her drink.

"And Erza, Natsu, Gray and Lucy took off for a casino job, so I was bored and lonely," Mira said, walking her fingers up Ruby's leg. Ruby batted it away gently.

"Not in front of the kids," Ruby said, before continuing, "I don't like this place, Mira."

"What's wrong with it?"

"They do the equivalent of checking for a guild mark for alcohol for one," Ruby said dryly, "but it also… It just doesn't make sense to me. This is a school for fighters, and they barely let them take jobs despite how old they are."

"Ruby," Ruby looked up at Taiyang's voice, "They have the results back, can we-? Oh, hi, Mirajane. What are you doing here?"

"Hello Tai," Mira said, "test results?"

"For something called a paternity test," Ruby explained, "it's supposed to reveal, once and for all, if we're related."

"Then let's go see the results, shall we?" Mira said, taking Ruby's hand and tugging her up. The three of then made their way through Beacon, meeting up with Yang at the infirmity doors. All four stepped in, and the doctor, a pink haired woman that reminded Ruby of Porlyusica, picked a file off the desk. A Doctor Pele, who she had met once when they first started the test.

"Let's not beat around the bush, shall we?" she said, "the test results are back obviously, and, well, the answer is simple. There are enough positive genetic markers between the two of you that the only reasonable diagnosis is that Tai is Miss Rose's father."

Ruby heard Tai-Yang, her father, breath a sigh of relief. She was more focused on Yang. Yang, who was wide eyed and panting, crashing down on one of the beds.

Yang, who was her sister.

She had a sister. A living one, who had never suffered in the halls of Breidablik, running themselves ragged to appease an unappeasable father. Ruby walked forwards, pulling Yang up by the scruff of her shirt, and pulled her into a hug. She felt tears wet her shoulder as she continued to just… hold her family. Especially once Tai wrapped his arms around them both.

Blake walked into their dorm room to see Ruby and Yang sitting next to each other, talking over a magazine about motorcycles.

"-have one back home," Ruby was saying, "I don't get to use it much, but I own one."

"How do motorcycles work in Earthland?" Yang said, "you haven't mentioned Dust, so what do you use for fuel?"

"We use something called an SE Plug, it's a cuff that goes over your wrist and you use your own magical power to power it. Works for everything short of a train, we use coal for that."

"You two seem to be getting along," Blake said dryly. It was an astute observation, Yang had held a resentment bordering on hatred for the other girl since they met. The fact that they were bonding now could only mean one thing, "The Paternity test came back?"

"Yeah," Yang said, giving a beaming smile, "this is my sister, Ruby Rose."

A chirp came from Blake's Scroll, asking her to come to Professor Ozpin's office. Bidding the sisters good luck, she slid out of the room and towards the elevator to Ozpin's office. She hated being Team BSL's leader, she didn't want to draw attention to herself, she just wanted to hide out the next four years and then go home.

The elevator stopped at Ozpin's office, and the professor, alongside Professor Goodwitch, Taiyang, and a scruffy looking man wearing a red cape looked over at her.

"Miss Belladonna," Ozpin said, "I have a request for Team BSL, a chance to get experience in the field."

"Which is?"

"You will take an extended break from Beacon, to travel with Tai-Yang and Qrow here to Earthland, in an attempt to open good relations with the guild Fairy Tail."

Well, if there was one place Adam was never, ever gonna find her…

"We'll do it sir."

"So you're coming with us?" Ruby said, standing in front of the portal.

"Yes," Blake said, nodding.

"Right, well if you're going to be in Fairy Tail, you'll need magic, which means…

Ruby rushed forwards, driving two fingers into each of the three girl's solar plexus, twisting them like a key as a magical seal appeared on it.

Then the screaming and spasming started. Each girl collapsed, twisting on the ground in pain.

"What did you just do?" Qrow asked, hand reaching for his greatsword.

"Opened their First Origin. It's not as painful as the second. They'll be done soon.

I have no idea what magic to give Weiss.

I have no idea what magic to give Weiss.
How about Weiss getting the power of Armor Dragon Slayer Magic in form of a Lacrima that is the processed heart of an Armor Dragon*?

Because Weiss is like a glass cannon who always get attacked whenever she tries to use her Summoning and has poor defense. With Armor Dragon Slayer Magic, no enemy is gonna harm her or make her budge from her moving spot.

*Considering Georg Reizen had sold off the processed heart of Elexion the Lightning Dragon King in the market, which Ivan Dreyar eventually got it and placed it into Laxus, it wouldn't be farfetched for the Diabolos guild master to sell the hearts of Dragons after killing them and let his guild members eat the bodies for power like he told Kirin to eat Elexion's body and claim its power.

I have no idea what magic to give Weiss.
Feels like something tied to ice or summoning would be thematic but it really comes down to what role do you foresee their magic playing.

Do you intend it to be ancillary to their existing abilities, play a defining role going forward, tie to their history/character arc etc. There are so many options that the role seems a bigger deal than it would normally be.

I am hesitant to recommend dragon slayer magic because it tends to become an overly large percentage of the important cast members magic and because it feels lacking in originality. The number of options for magic is near infinite and not running with that seems amiss.

Imagine the look on Weiss's face when she goes through the portal😁
Also HxH flash back at the end there😮 Be amusing to see if Blake could learn Aera from Happy or Carla😆The cat jokes 🤣

Silly Blake, everyone in Beacon Academy and also Vale knows who you are regardless if you didn't want their attention. Your dad is Ghira Belladonna, founder and first leader of White Fang and also chieftain of Menagerie, making you the princess. And you never bothered changing your name and appearance if you really want to go incognito.

I hope that Qrow might at least lampshade about it.

One of those RWBY moments that leaves you staring at that hand wave. Like seriously Blake😑, you literally even still have on that signature outfit you wore during the train heist!! That you likely had for some time before that!! And I believe the Fang were in Vale during that heist!! HOW IS THAT LAYING LOW!?

Yup, that also includes Ozpin interviewing Blake who claimed she was an orphan and had to fight on her own to survive... Leaving out the fact she still has her parents Ghira and Kali, and lived in a nice mansion at the tropical island of Menagerie.

I don't want her with Dragon Slayer magic anyways. If I were to give any of the girls a Slayer magic, it would be demon slayer for Yang, way in the future.

I recall that phoenix slayer magic exists (I don't know much about it other than it showing up in a film) so could Weiss be an ice phoenix slayer with ice coloured fire that gives Natsu a brainfreeze (ultimate big chill style but with ice blue flames)

That's from a Fairy Tail Fanon Wiki you got it from.

Erza used the Nullification Magic-infused arrow made by Eclair's deceased father that took down the massive Phoenix metallic creature in Priestess of the Phoenix movie, finished off by Natsu who shoved the said arrow deeper into its eye that completely shattered the Phoenix Stone.

It killed the Phoenix... But it also killed Eclair as she had her 400 years of immortality from the said creature, connected to it. But she was fine with it and ascended to the afterlife with her talking bird friend, Momon.

Oops my bad, though this is a fanfic so fanon stuff is fine. It is up to the author to do what he wants.

I'm torn on if I want to show Tower of Heaven, or focus on Team BSL getting their feet under them at Fairy Tail.

Chapter 7
Weiss stood in front of the tall building with the single suitcase she had been allowed to bring, Yang and Blake standing beside her with duffle bags. Repairs were clearly in the works, but otherwise it was a decently respectable building.

"Welcome," Ruby Rose said, smiling, "To Fairy Tail, my home and family. Hopefully, they become yours too."

Ruby threw open the doors, revealing a bunch of scattered tables with people eating and drinking at them, tearing into haunches of meat and downing flagons of alcohol, a bar in the back with a pair of women cooking and making drinks for everyone. The people milling about glanced over at Ruby before crying her name, "Ruby! Mira!"

"Hey, I'm back!" Ruby called, "Where's Grandpa?"

"Back here, Ruby," an elderly voice called and Ruby led them towards an old man wearing a jester hat, "Welcome home. Hello Tai-Yang, Qrow. Who are these three lovely young ladies?"

"I'm Weiss Schnee," Weiss said.

"Yang Xiao Long."

"Blake."

"And this is Zwei," Yang said, lifting the dog in her arms.

"They've come from Remnant to join the guild, as a sign of good faith."

"I see. I was of the impression that there were no Wizards on Remnant."

"They can learn," Ruby argued lightly, before taking on a whining tone, "Please, Grandpa, it's my sister?"

"True, true," the old man nodded, "Very well, welcome to Fairy Tail. Let me get the stamp and we can give you your guild marks."

"I'm not sure how I feel about getting a tattoo…" Weiss said. Her father would be beside himself with anger.

"It's removable, if you decide to leave the Guild," the old man explained, gently.

"One sec," Ruby said, attention suddenly caught by a passerby, "is Laxus home?"

"Yes, wh-?"

Ruby lept to the second floor with a warcry of "LAXUS!"

A bolt of lightning flew over her head and she turned, transforming into a beam of light as she chased the lightning bolt. They flew around the guild hall, people leaning back in amusement before-

"White God's," Ruby suddenly remanifested, leg extended and glowing white, "Guillotine!"

She hit the lightning bolt, smashing a blond haired man with a scar across his face, spiked headphones on his head, and a black coat draped over his shoulders into the ground.

"What was that for, you crazy bitch!?" The man demanded.

"I told you, if you didn't help with the Guild War, I was gonna kick the crap out of you! Did you think I was joking!?"

"Yes!" The man threw a lightning bolt at Ruby, who dodged it easily.

"Anyways," the old man said, like the fight going on was an everyday occurrence, "Where do you want your marks?"

"I'll go with one on my shoulder," Yang said, tapping her right arm.

"In what color?"

"Does gold work?"

"Indeed it does," the old man pressed the stamp against Yang's skin, and there was a glow before he pulled it back, a golden Fairy Tail mark had been branded on her skin.

In the background, Laxus was punching Ruby in the gut, sending electricity through her body. To Weiss's confusion, nobody seemed to be reacting to it.

"Purple, on my thigh, " Blake said, lowering her tights enough for the old man to press the marker against her skin.

Aaaannnddd Ruby had grabbed Laxus by the face, slamming him into the ground.

"...On my hand," Weiss said, "in white."

The old man pressed his stamp against her skin, pulling it back to reveal the mark, "Alright, you two, that's enough."

Laxus looked up from where he was preparing to powerbomb Ruby, a glowing elbow in his back, "Fine."

"Fine, fine," Ruby said, dusting herself off, "come on, you three, lets get you your first job… Oh, hunting Direwolves, that's always easy."

They had been in the back of the carriage for two days, each of team BSL reading a book they had found in the Fairy Tail library about a type of magic that sparked their interest. Shadow for Blake, Heavenly Body for Yang, and Solid Script for Weiss.

The most basic skill of a Shadow Wizard is to store items, up to including themselves, in shadows.

Yeah, that sounded good, but how did you do that? Blake reached for the feeling in her body that had come into existence when Ruby opened her "First Origin". A seal appeared in front of her, before sputtering out.

"Good try, Blake," Ruby praised, sitting next to Yang, "We're almost there, so you won't be using your magic for this job, unfortunately. But don't worry, I'm sure you'll get a handle on the basics quickly enou-"

The carriage shook, and Blake heard the sound of the horses making noises of pain.

"And just like that, the fight begins!" Ruby said, disturbingly cheerful as she threw open the doors and caught the jaws of a wolf the size of a pickup truck. Breathing in, she breathed out a beam of dark tinged white energy down the beast's throat before throwing it aside, "Come on, girls, show them your stuff!"

Blake came out to see five slightly smaller wolves prowling around them, just the size of a large sedan. Blake drew Gambol Shroud, while Weiss drew her rapier, Myrtenaster, and Yang deployed her gauntlets, Ember Celica. Ruby was sitting on the top of the carriage, legs folded and head resting on one hand, "You're not gonna help us?"

"I'll intervene if things get too bad," Ruby said lightly, "but my magical presence would make the Direwolves run away, which will make the job harder, so I'm staying out of it unless I need to."

Ruby watched Yang rush towards one of the wolves, firing Ember Celica into it. The pellets hit and dug into the skin slightly, causing the wolf to turn towards her sister…

That was gonna take a while to get used to. The only family of worth she had known in her entire life had been Fairy Tail. It wasn't that she was unhappy about it, far from it, but it was strange.

Ruby caught one of the unoccupied wolves by the head, beginning to slowly crush it as she did. As she did, she suddenly got a feeling something was going horribly wrong. Crushing the wolf, Ruby stood up, eyes raking the area in an attempt to find the source of her distress. Then, as quickly as it came, it faded.

Ruby fell back onto the top of the carriage, hoping the kids got done with killing the wolves soon she could get back to Fairy Tail. Something was wrong with Erza, she could just tell.

Looking over, Ruby watched Blake drive her katana into one wolf's eye, piercing the brain and killing it. Weiss had, somehow, frozen her wolf solid, and Yang was putting a shotgun shell between the third's eyes.

Which left the last one…

Ruby flashed over to it, drawing back a hand back and coating it with magical energy, before driving it into the wolf's neck and severing it's spine.

Yang walked back into Fairy Tail four days later, the time extended by the loss of their horses. Ruby immediately made a b-line for Mirajane, face serious. Yang walked in, looking around awkwardly before going to sit at the bar, "Can I get a strawberry sunrise?"

"Of course! And to eat?"

Yang looked over the list, before saying "Can I get the spicy wings?"

"How hot do you want them?"

"As hot as you can?" Yang heard snickering from the tables near her, "What?"

"You're gonna regret that, girlie," the man with a pompadour said, "I'm Wakaba, by the way."

"Yang," Yang said. She'd show them.

"Why don't you find a table to sit at?" The woman tending the bar said, "we can bring the food out to you. Don't worry about paying, we'll put that on Ruby's bill. Is that alright, Ruby!?

"Huh?" Ruby looked up from where she was pouring over a map with Mirajane.

"Putting the girls you brought in's food on your tab until they make enough money to pay themselves?"

"Yeah, sure, go ahead," Ruby waved a hand before going back to the map.

"Can I get the salmon?" Blake asked.

"Grilled or smoked?"

"Grilled."

"We'll get it to you right away," she said with a nod.

Yang turned with Blake towards the tables, seeing Weiss had already been awkwardly pulled over to one by a girl wrapped in bandages. Yang took a long way around so she could listen in on Ruby's conversation quickly.

"That job, it's here, isn't it?" Ruby asked, jabbing a finger at a spot on the map. Mirajane nodded, and Ruby's face pulled into a severe frown, looking unusual on her face, "That's close to the you-know-what, isn't it?"

"She's not going to go there," Mirajane said, "at worst she sees it on the horizon."

"That doesn't mean it won't cause bad memories," Ruby said, adding just before Yang left earshot, "if they aren't back in a week I'm going to look with them. Take care of the kids for me?"

"Of course," Mirajane said.

Yang and Blake settled at the table Weiss was sitting at. The blue haired girl sitting across from them smiled, "Hey, you're all new to the guild, right?"

"Yeah," Yang said, "I'm Yang, this is Blake."

"Levy Mcgarden, and this is Jet and Droy. How was your first mission?"

"Pretty boring?" Yang said.

"They always are. They get more exciting, I promise."

"Are you injured from a job?" Yang asked.

"No, something else."

The wings were placed in front of Yang while the salmon was placed in front of Blake. Yang took a bite of a wing and-

Holycraponacrackerthatwashot!

Yang grabbed the drink, downing it to kill the heat, "Why is the hottest you have hot enough to kill a girl?"

"Natsu," Levy said, giggling, "he isn't here right now, but he really likes spicy foods.

"What was that for, you crazy bitch!?" The man demanded.

"I told you, if you didn't help with the Guild War, I was gonna kick the crap out of you! Did you think I was joking!?"

"Yes!" The man threw a lightning bolt at Ruby, who dodged it easily.
I wonder if that would still lead to Laxus launching his coup attempt to take over Fairy Tail and remake it in proto-Sabertooth image where only the strongest mages stay while the weak are kicked out. Or Ruby being a constant presence around Laxus especially with her always feeding him humble pies might chill him out.

By the way, does Ruby know Laxus is a Lightning Dragon Slayer or is it still a secret that Makarov told his grandson to never reveal it?

I find that unbelievable Laxus was able to keep that under wraps despite having a Lightning Dragon Lacrima implanted in his body for years yet Natsu would have sensed it by smell.

And that Laxus would have used it already after Ruby keep attacking him and push him back.

"I see. I was of the impression that there were no Wizards on Remnant."
Salem and Ozma were the last Wizards of Remnant and the closest thing the modern ones are the Four Maidens.

Shadow for Blake, Heavenly Body for Yang, and Solid Script for Weiss.
Heavenly Body Magic works for Yang plus it's not like Jellal had an exclusive right to it. A flying Yang plus her Burn Semblance makes her a flaming meteor.

Weiss is so gonna have fun with Solid Script to think up words that can hurt her enemies, lol.

Blake is cool with Shadow Magic that she can use with her skills as ex-White Fang operative.

she threw open the doors and caught the jaws of a wolf the size of a pickup truck
Won't Blake, Weiss and Yang be surprised that they fight actual wolves and kill them where their bodies remain instead of Grimm Beowolves that dissipate after dying that they're used to?

I need to figure out what Weiss drinks, since she's definitely not going to participate in the casual alcoholism of Fairy Tail

Wild animals still exist on Remnant. It's not what they're used to, but killing an actual wolf would not be too strange for then
