"Blake, Jaune, come over here," Blake looked up from her book where she was sitting next to Yang "arm wrestling" Sting, which translated to her keeping her arm firmly in place while Sting strained to move it even an inch.
Standing up, she walked over, Jaune doing the same, "What did you need, Makarov?"
I have special jobs for the two of your teams. I want you to escort Sting and Rogue on their first jobs."
"Jobs?" Blake stressed.
"Yes. Rogue is to guard aid resources for Vale as they're brought up to the portal. Quite simply, we need someone to sit on the train with him. Team JNPR will do that. Meanwhile, BSL will help Sting reach Hargeon by foot to deliver a message for the baron of Hargeon. The pay would normally be quite paltry, but as this is also service to the guild, I would pay you an extra 100% of the reward."
"Which is how much?" Jaune asked.
"5,000 for Rogue's job, 4,000 for Sting's. So Team JNPR would each receive 10,000 for the job, and BSL 8,000. Is that acceptable?"
"Yes," Blake said. While Weiss was busy fretting over Lucy (Blake strongly suspected Weiss and Lucy were the only people not to realize they had feelings for each other), Yang had taken to Sting quite happily. Blake suspected, but wouldn't admit it aloud because it sounded bad, that Yang was using Sting as a replacement for the Ruby that never was. The one she could be the big sister to.
"Yeah," Jaune said, nodding.
Blake turned, walked to the table her Team and Sting were sitting at and said, "Come on. We've got a job to do. And that includes you, Sting."
—
Sting hiked his knapsack over his shoulder, an excited grin on his face. He had seen Rogue off at the train station, Yang was next to him, Blake lurking in the shadows and Weiss was behind them, looking nervous. She had seemed nervous since Ruby left, and Sting wasn't quite sure why.
They began to walk down the road to Hargeon, chatting about how Sting was settling into the Guild. And… Well...
"I hate to ask this," Blake said, "but has Jaune been acting strange to anyone else?"
"He hasn't called me Snow Angel in months," Weiss admitted. Snow Angel?
"He's been asking me for boxing lessons," Yang said, "I keep putting them off, but…"
"So it isn't just me," Blake said.
Sting didn't really have anything to add, he hadn't really hung out with that group, more BSL and Ruby.
They made their way through the farmland around Magnolia, into the forest and along the path covered with brush, talking about nothing and everything.
Eventually the sun began to set, and they set up camp for the night, Weiss lighting a fire with her magic. Sting looked around, wondering if they were going to have to fight something on this mission. He hoped so, he wanted to show off his skills to BSL.
"It's a three day walk to Hargeon," Blake said, "Get some sleep, I'll take first watch."
—
If Yang was honest, she knew she was being unfair to Sting, using him as a replacement for Ruby as someone to be a big sister to. She hadn't meant for it to happen, it just kinda… Did. And she didn't know how to make up for it without breaking the kid's heart so… She was just gonna keep on being his big sis, she guessed.
"Can't sleep?" Blake asked quietly, sitting down next to Yang.
"Yeah. Sting's a good kid, you know that?"
"Rogue is too," Blake said, "I hope him and JNPR are doing alright."
"Yeah," Yang said, before chewing her cheek, "Hey, Blake? Can I do something dumb."
"When don't you," Blake ribbed lightly, "Go ahead."
Yang leaned forwards, planting her lips on Blake's cheek and pulling back to see the Faunus flushed red, "Told you it was dumb."
"I- I-" rustling came from the bushes, and out came several wolves, "We'll talk about that later. Sting! Weiss! Wake up! We're under attack!"
Both jumped to their feet, Weiss brandishing Myrtenaster while Sting lowered himself into an almost primal stance. Blake swung both hands out, not wasting time drawing Gambol Shroud and instead slashing through the two wolves with taut strings. Yang activated Meteor around herself, launching forwards to smash Ember Celica into one wolf's head, backhanding another away.
"White Dragon's Claws!" Sting called and manifested white claws around his hands, rushing forwards to drive a deep gouge in one wolf, leaving it to tip over dead, before clenching it and driving another fist into a wolf's skull, "White Dragon's Holy Fist!"
Atta boy.
Weiss froze four wolves solid, before producing another glyph and writing "sound" into it, causing a hogh pitched screeching that shattered them to shards of ice.

Pyrrha looked up as the train ground to a halt. That was strange, they were still three days from the portal. Standing up, she looked out the window to see men and women marching on the train. Bandits. Or Dark Guild members. They must have got wind of the supplies on the train.
Jaune stood, pulling up his sleeves as the black markings Pyrrha was getting really worried about spread across his right arm. He immediately jumped from the train, rushing for them; Pyrrha followed after, Ren and Nora coming behind and Rogue taking up the rear.
"Corpse Devil's Disintegrating Fist!" Jaune called, punching one of the enemies and causing her to explode into ash. Spreading his arms, the ash split into two balls before slashing down with his arms, the ashes tearing into two other members, "Corpse Devil's Slash!"
Pyrrha raised the arm holding Mílo into the sky, a purple aura appearing around it and creating an outline in the earth. Swinging the xiphos down, she applied heavy gravity to the area, crushing them inti the ground, which cratered from the force of the attack. She kept the gravity on them for a few more seconds, making sure they blacked out.
Ren danced as Nora stormed forwards, his magic enhancing her alongside her own magic. She threw out a hand, electricity jumping from it to shock a bunch of people to the left while she one handed Magnhild into another man's gut.
And then there was Rogue, exploding out of the shadow to hamstring enemies around the outskirts before diving back in before he could be attacked. Rising from Ren's shadow, Rogue breathed in, releasing a Shadow Dragon's Roar.
