Winter is Coming: House Stark Quest

I'd really not to fight for the iron throne, personally or even scede from it. Also, Renly, Stannis, Dany, or fAegon - it is all the same to me. We do not have any quarrel with them, and we stand to lose less from neutrality rather than picking sides. Remember - vale and dorne stayed out of the fight and lost nothing.

It is not as if we are lacking in enemies. The Lannisters can still raise an army, the Ironborn could attack us, etc.

If the Ironborn do attack us - we will need a fleet. Maybe redwyne, maybe we can woo Lannisterport to our side, maybe Stannis, heck maybe sellsails.

Why are you guys talking about Stannis or whatever? The North knows no King but the King in the North, and his name is STARK. But I suppose Robb sitting the Iron Throne is an acceptable compromise.

BTW, Stannis might be the rightful King, but I don't think him demanding the burning of Weirwoods will sit well with any Northman. At certain point it will be either independence for the North, or hegemony.
And what makes you think he'll demand us to burn our Weirwoods?

Do we know she is not there for certain? The way I see it, she could still come to Stannis as a preacher if anything else.
Not for certain, but given what we know it's likely. The only reason she came to Stannis in canon was because he was the one destined to stop the Others. Given they don't exist here Melisandre doesn't have a reason to seek Stannis out.

Without Melisandre, Stannis is likely going to get killed by Renly, and that will be that. The smartest thing we can do is to simply keep out of it. Renly might pose a problem afterwards... but only if we insist on being independent.

Ideally, of course, the Baratheons clash somewhere far away from us and both die in the ensuing battle.

IIRC, Renly does this stupid charge at dawn with the sun in his men's eyes. So let's not count Stannis out yet.

So, I just finished binging the Durrandon quest, and I have a question.

Seeing as how Lyanna, and even Rhaegar (initially) survived when they should have died, presumably because of rolls, is it possible that Ned avoids getting his head chopped off?

Why you want to suck up Dorne so much? What did they do that makes us want to like them so badly? What's their use even? Or what, you think that Doran who didn't lift a finger to avenge his sister and niece and nephew will just day fuck it and throw their lot with us for killing a Mook they didn't like in a fight that had nothing to do with us? Why?

Doran didn't avenge his family on the spot because it would have just been Dorne against the rest of Westeros and thus accomplish nothing but getting more of his family killed.

Doran waited his time and planned to marry his eldest son to Danaerys so his revenge would have an actual chance.

[Walter]Also yes, if they kill Ned then Tywin needs to die because that's what a hostage is, those are the rules![/Walter]

Clustered around the doors of the sept, in front of the raised marble pulpit, were a knot of knights and high lords. Joffrey was prominent among them, his raiment all crimson, silk and satin patterned with prancing stags and roaring lions, a gold crown on his head. His queen mother stood beside him in a black mourning gown slashed with crimson, a veil of black diamonds in her hair. The Hound was there as well, the snowy white cloak which had once been Ser Barristan's now hanging over his dark grey armor, with four of the Kingsguard around him. Varys was there, and Littlefinger.

And Sansa, dressed in sky-blue silk, with her long auburn hair washed and curled and silver bracelets on her wrists. She looked so... happy.

At last the bell ceased to toll, and a quiet slowly settled across the great plaza. Your voice was thin and weak, and the mob jeered and roared at you. "Louder! Speak up!"

"I am Eddard Stark, Lord of Winterfell and Hand of the King," you said as loudly as you could manage. A ripple of pain tore through your bad leg, but with pain came clarity.

Oh, fuck. :o

I have no idea what to do. Worst scenario is canon, but I have no idea how to avoid canon.

EDIT: Wait, that's not even the worst scenario. The worst scenario is that Eddard and Sansa are murdered instead of just Eddard.

Die on your feet, don't live on your knees....

Also he might die on his knees anyway

The canon response. Eddard was promised that Sansa would live and he would be sent to the Wall if he did this. Obviously, Joffrey reneged on his promise and executed Ned. Things are different here since Robb has completely fucked over the Lannisters in the Riverlands and captured a bunch of people he didn't in canon.

The honorable option and the one that'll likely guarantee an execution. Joffrey might take it out on Sansa as well if we go all the way and say he's an incest baby.

@Charcolt, is Kevan there?

Not yet. Kevan will be riding into King's Landing in the aftermath of these events.

@Charcolt, can we assume that Arya managed to slip out of the Lannister's grasp like in canon?

Arya rolled to successfully evade capture. She's with Bobby Bastard Gendry and the other folks now.
