Dark Creatures Stir
Dark Creatures Stir

It is a dark time for the kingdom, but it will grow darker yet. The world of Honor is threatened; the Kingdom of Chivalry faces a green tide. And in the opening salvo, all shall be put at risk-- but none so much as these three of glory:

[] The Shadow Lady of Montfort Seeks a vengeance, far from the safety of her city.
[] The Betrayed Betrayer Comforts his wife.
[] The Mountain Wolf Surveys his turf.

I want info on our dear sister.

Godfrey just drew Lance!Excalibur, and also risked having his soul eaten by Gork and/or Mork.

what are the stat boosts?
Virtue of Dutiful Purity: "We must be good men, honest men, virtuous men, dutiful men. Through us the land has its purity, and by us its fecundity; if it should fail, then we be damned forever anyway." (+3 Stewardship, +3 Piety, In any army where he travels with a character of equal or higher rank and/or if there are innocents abound, he can tank the blows that would strike them; can enter the Realm of the Silverspire without lighting on fire, much more resilient to Chaotic Corruption, shares Ward Save with dutiful soldiers, ward save improved to 5+/4+, do not need to pray to have blessing of the Lady)

Silver Lance of the Blessed: This lance, forged by Giles, burns with an awesome power; friends to Bretonnia find themselves nourished in its light, while those who dare sully honor or chivalry find their hearts in the very grip of terror, seeing its awesome might-- a might that never misses its mark when wielded by champions of the Lady. (Causes Terror in all foes Godfrey is in direct combat with, so long as Godfrey has Blessing of the Lady this weapon cannot miss, this weapon ignores all armor)

That's not too bad a Lance. What does it do for allies, per the underlined?

[X] The Betrayed Beatrayer

If you want info on what our sister's up to, this seems like the better option than the shadow lady since I'm pretty sure that's about our wife

[X] The Shadow Lady of Montfort Seeks a vengeance, far from the safety of her city.

What/Where is this exactly? I don't think I've heard of this place before.
The Silverspire is the Lady's home. As for where it is, no idea. I heard once that it's somewhere in the Empire but that's unconfirmed.

What/Where is this exactly? I don't think I've heard of this place before.
Where the Lady holds her court eternal, the Otherworld.

It is distinctly hazardous to all people who are not pure or powerful enough to sit in the Lady's radiance, which is most of humanity except the best knights, the damsels, and kids.

[X] The Shadow Lady of Montfort

The sun passed behind the dismal clouds of

of what?

"I know. I'm not afraid."

"Good." The ancient Prophetess spoke then, the first time in months; her voice reverberated with power, echoing through the slight chapel. "Foe is the enemy's weapon. We do not need it. We will not truck with it."

Did you meant "Fear is the enemy's weapon"?

Nice update by the way. I enjoyed it a great deal.

- You institute a second draft, sending your men to hire more soldiers from amongst the city and the land of your direct, non-Baron vassals. At first there is some whining about this.

Then the Manor of the Belrose family comes under siege as a tidal wave of Orcs comes pouring through the Giseroux gap, maddened by bloodlust and rage.

The Baron fights off the Orcs and Goblins with stunning ferocity, fitting the sons of Montfort, and calling his Earls to his side in a grand charge that shatters what remains of the besieging forces— but the attack is still something scary enough to make your barons and vassals fall in line.

And so by the time the end of the year rolls around, green but well trained archers and men at arms fill the ranks, even as veterans of the earlier wars are granted the privileges of Yeomanry and Villeins.
Reward: 20,000 Men at Arms, 20,000 Bowmen, 6,000 Yeomen, 750 Yeomen wardens, 750 Villein
Oh hey, that's convenient timing orcs, thanks for proving our point!

Needed:60 Rolled:3

- You send a small number of Knights Errant under the command of your Household Knights to Bastonne, to arrest the efforts of the Orcs there.

They fail. They fail, hard. The Orcs slaughter and burn their way through innocent men, killing and destroying; fully half the number of the knights of Bastonne are ruined as the Knights face an opponent none had thought they would:

Wurrzag, da Great Green Prophet.

He unleashes a foul spell, enhanced by the great number of greenskins called to Morglum's side, and it burns the word in green fire.

Whatever patience the foul Morglum had, it is burnt as he sees the insult twice laid upon him. Immediately he begins force marching his army; and that is only the part you know...

-Failure, reduced number of Knights Errant for you, Wurrzag da Great Green Prophet Joins Waaagh! Morglum on the Field, along with a number of savage orcs. Morglum Comes-
...cause holy hell are we going to need those guys.

Needed:25 Rolled: 19

- The rightly brewed concoction is crafted, only for a few Goblins to break in and steal it. While, with a well timed fling of a rock, she does manage to break the vial and thus spray the fiery concoction all over the theives, stopping them before they can steal it, her plans required an intact sample — one that is now lost.
-Failure-
That's unfortunate. Hope that doesn't nix the whole thing.

After her visit to the Grand Library, and no longer plagued by wolf-howls in the night, Nimue would like to build one of these bath houses within Montfort, to help fight off some of the terrible stench that (apparently) permeates.

- Work is begun on the grand bathhouse. They will be squat, but wide and deep. Nimue practically vibrated, she was so excited when you okayed her plan.
@Voikirium Missing the action header.

Ok...whose bright idea was it to not put a DD on something that requires a 60 to pass? It wouldn't have gotten a success but it would still have been better and smarter.
Ex-post facto roll criticism is almost the stupidest post to make. Come on. We DD actions that generally need to succeed and the dice fall may where they may on the rest.

[] The Betrayed Beatrayer Comforts his wife.
@Voikirium Vote here is misspelled.

Fixed, thank you both.

Also, as I mentioned, now would be a good time to ask me questions: Setting stuff (Hey Voi, what's that about Court Wizards/the kids who disappear?), Character Stuff (Hey Voi, what's the deal with Philip still being all jittery and self-hating after drinking of the Grail), or Misc (Hey Voi, what's Norsca like in Honor is All canon?).

...Not that I have any suggestions, or anything.

Hey Voi, what's the deal with Philip still being jittery and self-hating even after drinking from the Grail and experiencing its cleansing power?

What's Norsca like in HIACIA canon?

Is the Lance the last of "the Five" you were mentioning?

I'm glad you asked! While the Quest cleanses much of a person's character flaws, the Lady has no desire to rule a court of sock-puppets and automatons-- she wants real, actual people; the best people, but people. Philip's self-loathing is buried too deep for even the Grail to cleanse it fully without basically lobotomizing him, and she doesn't play that game; and though it has wilted over years, starved of fuel, coming back home and getting hit with the one two punch of a specific memory ("No-one'll ever love you, brother, you're too damn stupid for it" said the asshole sister) and just a bit of shame from being away from home when his family really needed him mean it's flaring a bit.

As you might expect, the stealing of Asavar Kul's corpse, and then leaving Morathi's punishment to some of the most potent foes Chaos has, has not particularly made the Four happy. Their "Blessings" have practically dried up, by Norscan standards; Why, only a few thousand babies with three eyes were born, even! Into this den of fuckery, two Norscan factions, already extant, have bloomed to terrible fruition: one, basically Viking Puritans, have declared eternal war against the impure (Hah, irony) and a promise to slay a million souls until they have re-earned the favor of the Gods, while others, those less Chaos-y, have begun to offer their prayers and worship to Taal, Ulric, Rhya, and the other natural gods, and having begun warring massively against the Purists. Meanwhile, the entire rest of the world is just glad they aren't taking magic vikings up the ass every few months.

The non-Chaos Norscans are like, probably (99%) boned when the Four get over themselves, but they've made their peace with that, and are gonna go down fighting. Meanwhile, the Dark Elves on top of taking Elven, Dwarfen, Halfling (Don't ask. Or do, I guess), and Human raids, have had to deal with super-charged Hung, too. Malekith is Having a Bad Time.

...Kind of? I mean, I originally meant it to be the culmination, but then Shit Happened and Godfrey decided "yep, I'll just take that Hundred, please."
