We don't want something really prolonged like a normal siege, but since we very much have the means to break walls and such in pretty short order, this is fine.
[x] Lay siege to his castle, allowing you to attack in the daylight and use your superior magical and technological firepower to breach his walls.
We have cannons, we have magic and they have an old castle, totally unsuited to an assault from both. Hell, they will probably sally out after a few nasty bombardments.
They don't have to sally out during the day (unless it's only those monsters, that can do so). Doing so at night is far more common, even for living people.Not if the vampire has a bad enough sunlight weakness they won't, he'd sooner fight us in the wine cellar than come out in the sun.
Classic vampire first turn ;A;He shouts a command in reikspiel, and his cannons roar with fire and powder smoke. It takes a few attempts to get his range in, but soon enough the corpse carts are shattered wood and pulped flesh.

[x] Draw the vampire's army out onto the field of battle. This will remove the advantage of his walls, but he will get to choose when he engages you, meaning a night battle is likely.
I do not really see the point in a siege? The enemy army cannot starve and making holes in the wall does not really help us since the undead probably have an advantage in close quarters battles. It would be safer to fight a night battle, especially since we have magic to (probably) mitigate the lack of light penalty.
The point isn't to starve them, but to avoid fighting them in the dark. Even if we can devise a way for our entire army to not fight blind, the slightest perturbation of that trick you likely make our army collapse.I do not really see the point in a siege? At least there's no more magic cannonballs that can hit a target behind a hill in Old World after the latest FAQ.Classic vampire first turn ;A;
It'd be such a good unit if cannons didn't exist...
Speaking of magic cannonballs, I don't think I've ever been more hype for a quest than when the blessed cannonball in drunken dynasty came back from the warp. Fun times.
Wonder if we keep the castle afterwards. Would take some investment but it could grow to another more secure than average settlment.We have cannons, we have magic and they have an old castle, totally unsuited to an assault from both. I believe it was described as being set on the other end of the large bay our own settlement is on, so it'd be nice to claim the town and castle, anchor our naval situation even more.Wonder if we keep the castle afterwards. At some point in future.
