Warcraft: Fallen Kingdoms (Old)

If we're not doing a state visit then the whole leader to leader thing is redundant. Or are we using letters?

Now that I think about it, do we have a royal seal or something?

Well we do have that nice diplo stat. For all I know us meeting them personally can result in Lor'themar becoming our boy toy.

Joking aside there's pros and cons for this situation, meeting them personally will give the impression that we do care about their plight and have some regard for elves. On the other hand if this is a trap then us going might result in game over if the elves decide to be a bunch of dicks.

Heads of state come only after ambassadors are exchanged, relations normalised and so on. It's usually very unwise to do a state visit before protocols are established. You want to send someone to get the lay of the land, setup an embassy that can serve as a safehouse and so on first. For a real life example, check out Nixon visiting China.

Once you've got a line of communication up, relations normalised, ambassadors exchanged, embassies established, then you can see about a state visit. Whether we go to him or he comes to us depends on several factors. If he repeats Sunsorrows demands, making him come to us would probably be better than us going to him. If not, it may be wise to be proactive and visit him.

We're very information poor at the moment regarding Quel'thalas and the elves. An embassy and ambassadors would resolve that.

it's a risk true, but we should be able to take with us a big entourage of guards and paladins so I think it's a manageable risk. Perhaps trying to set up a meeting at neutral grounds?

Queen empress of mankind, defender of Lordaeron, Scourgeslayer, Angel of the Battlefield, Savior of the innocent.

Personally I would like to establish a diplomatic relationship with the blood elves wherein we exist and we don't hear about them ever.

Other details such as them continuing to exist are mostly meaningless.

[x] Due to our limited resources and focus on the Scourge threat, we are regretfully unable to meet the requests of the Sin'dorei at this time. We are hopeful that perhaps at some point in the future we can further discuss the issue. Given the renowned longevity of the elven people, and the traditional long view taken by their leadership in the past, we are certain that the vast majority of the Sin'dorei will understand and likely live to see that day. Until then we bid a heartfelt farewell, giving our best wishes and an assurance that we will attempt contact if any matters requiring it come about.

1. Before any agreement can be entered into, or any responsibility taken or denied for the actions of Grand Marshall Garithos, diplomatic relations and credentials between the Sin'dorei and the Crusade must be established first and foremost.
Remove the 'credentials' part, otherwise it'll look like we're publicly/officially questioning the authority of Ambassador Sunsorrow. Make it seem like we're prepared to enter negotiations but simply wish to avoid confusion and misunderstanding instead of us doubting the word of their Ambassador.
3. Matters of a significant nature such as the one Sunsorrow proposes must be discussed leader to leader to ensure that no possible miscommunication occurs at any level.
Maybe add that we're prepared to travel to Quel'Thalas(Tranquillien?) to meet him? It might soothe their egos and lessen suspicions.
4. In order to ensure the safety of Sunsorrow and the delivery of Crown Princess Angelica Menethil's intentions and warmest wishes to the current leaders of the Sin'dorei, a unit of soldiers (how large?) will be dispatched to Quel'thalas alongside the ambassador to provide both escort and to assist the elven forces against the scourge and troll threats.

Word this as a suggestion/offer instead of a demand. Otherwise it might be seen as taking him hostage/threatening him or implying that they can't defend themselves. Either would be insulting to an official envoy. As for size, I'm thinking 100-150. Enough to defend our ambassador and provide some aid, but not enough to be threatening or too big a commitment if things go sour. Maybe add a clause that we're prepared to leave most of them at the border of Quel'Thalas if they don't want us to enter as long as they take responsibility of the defense of our ambassador?
Suggestions? Ideas for improvement?
We need to inform our High Elven allies about the negotiations but that we aren't going to abandon them or turn them over. We need to reassure them before the get the wrong idea and do something in desperation or fear.

Yea.. no

I voted Razor One.

That implies that my vote goes where his vote goes.

Otherwise I would've specified.

It currently gives the appearance of a split vote.

Yeah. The original plan was called counter offer but everyone voted Razor One instead.

Plan ambassador leads by a decent chunk.

Done.

Maybe add that we're prepared to travel to Quel'Thalas(Tranquillien?) to meet him? It might soothe their egos.

Added "Such a meeting is to take place at a location deemed satisfactory to both parties." Should cover things nicely.

Word this as a suggestion/offer instead of a demand. Otherwise it might be seen as taking him hostage/threatening him or implying that they can't defend themselves. Either would be insulting to an official envoy. As for size, I'm thinking 100-200. Enough to defend our ambassador and provide some aid, but not enough to be threatening or too big a commitment if things go sour.

Reworded things to take this into account. New point now reads:

4. In order to ensure the safety of Sunsorrow and the delivery of Crown Princess Angelica Menethil's intentions and warmest wishes to the current leaders of the Sin'dorei, the Crusade offers a company of soldiers (company = 80 - 250 soldiers in military parlance) to be dispatched to Quel'thalas alongside the ambassador to provide both escort and to assist the elven forces against the scourge and troll threats. If the ambassador declines to accept the extension of military aid at this time, it shall be offered again at a later juncture once diplomatic ties have been established.

We need to inform our High Elven allies about the negotiations but that we aren't going to abandon them or turn them over. We need to reassure them before the get the wrong idea and do something in desperation or fear.

Added:

5. A messenger is to be dispatched to the Crusade's high elven allies to communicate the Crusades current intentions in order to prevent confusion in these strained times. Our intentions are as follows:

5. 1. That the Crusade is currently pursuing diplomatic contact with the Sin'dorei with the following goals in mind:

5. 1.1. Protection and immunity to all high elves working with the Crusade.

5. 1.2. That no agreement of a permanent nature will be reached so long as the Sin'dorei continue hostilities against the Quel'dorei.

5. 1.3. That the Crusade desires reconciliation between the Sin'dorei and the Quel'dorei, but recognises that may yet be distant at this point in time.

5. 2. That military and material support will only be given to the Sin'dorei when the safety of the Quel'dorei has been assured.

Further consideration and improvement is always welcome.

I really do not deserve this level of trust.

I don't like the ambassador plan. it presuposes that we will join the alliance.

How so?

Sending a message to the High Elves doesn't really sound like something that should be part of our offer to the BE, but a seperate action instead. It looks kinda out of place IMO.

How to make it seperate whilst keeping it as part of the vote though? Maybe go for a sub option?

So:

Code:
[] Derp.
1. Bla
2. Bla
3. Bla
4. Bla
-[] Also send a message.

Would that work?

{Edit}

Wait, no that wouldn't work, people would need to re-vote to confirm the sub option.

Maybe just alter the wording on point five to clarify that it's a separate action?
