Sit on the shoulder of one of the most important characters in Skullgirls and offer her whatever words you want to say. Whether you're helpful, silly, or just along for the ride, shenanigans await.
I've realized the first post isn't as clear as I'd like about what you can and can't do, so I've decided to make a post listing that out. This can and will be updated as needed.
You can communicate with Marie using your own words or by including a link to a video in your plan, in which case Marie will hear the audio from that video, but she won't see the video. You can include both audio from a video and your own words in a plan. She'll hear your communication clearly no matter what's going on around her
You can give Marie new powers/abilities based on those of characters that debuted in other fighting games, and you'll earn chances to do that if and when I decide that someone posting in the thread has made an especially good post, come up with a particularly clever plan, or otherwise done something to make the quest better/more fun. When I decide that you've earned the chance to give Marie a new power, there'll be a vote between a few options I provide, but write-ins will be allowed as well if I like them enough
You can not show Marie images or appear to her in a visible form... yet. You may gain the ability to do either or both of those things later down the line. If and when you gain the ability to show Marie images, this will include being able to show her the contents of a video that you include a link to in your plan UPDATE: You have gained the ability to show Marie images and video footage with the appropriate links.
You can not interact with the world of the quest physically... yet. You may gain the ability to do that in some way eventually, with the precise manner in which you would interact with the world depending on how things develop
You can not control Marie's actions directly, only communicate with her and try to persuade her to make the decisions you'd like her to take
So just to have a post with All of Marie's current abilities (Will be updated as she continues to obtain more stuff from us)
Marie:
-Baiken's Baku. If Marie survives an attack, she can turn its power back on her attacker and also prevent them from blocking or escaping her own attacks for a brief period. She can only do this up to four times in a single fight, but if she gets into two separate fights in quick succession she will still start the second fight with all four uses of Baku available. -Kukri's Time Out Box. The ability to make world only she can access that gives anyone put into it what they need to survive and only what they need to survive. -Scorpion's Kunai and Chain: Marie will have Scorpion's kunai on a chain and the skill to use it properly. The weapon never needs any sort of repairs or maintenance, and if the kunai doesn't hit Marie's target it will return to her hand without any complications. The kunai needs about one second to return to Marie's hand, and it has a maximum range of roughly 10 feet or 3 meters. The kunai can pierce through most kinds of fabric or flesh, but any sort of stone or metal object will only be scratched by it. -Chun-Li's knowledge of how to conduct criminal investigations. This includes an understanding of how criminal organizations usually function, how to get information from both cooperative and uncooperative people, how to follow a person without being noticed, how to find and follow a money trail, how to search through records efficiently, what kinds of records are useful for answering different questions, how to gather evidence using methods such as fingerprinting and wiretapping, and how forensic science can be used to identify people. -Twelve's(Street Fighter) Shapeshifting Abilities. She can change her shape in any way she can think of, and her clothes can also change to fit her. She can't alter the color of anything. She can't learn the fighting abiltiies or skill of any figure she copies unlike the original Twelve. -Johnny Cage's Acting Skills: Myriad must give Marie directions like you're shooting a movie when she does get the chance to mess with Double. It doesn't have to be the whole message, just a line doing some bit of stereotypical director talk like "Places, people!" would be enough, but the more elaborate we can make the joke, the better. -Chronos' Jamunaa Raasutaa: Marie will have the ability to ride people like a skateboard. If Marie can grab a person and hold on for at least one whole second without them getting loose, she can jump in the air and put the person she's grabbed under her feet to ride on them. Marie's "skateboard" will behave like a very long but otherwise ordinary skateboard, and the person she uses as a skateboard will not be hurt by this whole process unless Marie specifically wants them to be hurt. -Urien's Aegis Reflector: Marie can make a shield of energy appear in front of her that can travel a short distance away from her. If Marie moves from the position where she summoned the shield while it is still moving, it will continue going in the same direction as when it started. Any projectile that hits the shield will bounce off, and anyone who touches the shield besides Marie will be electrocuted. After taking enough damage, the shield disappears. If Marie hits someone and they fly into the shield, they will be electrocuted and bounce off the shield like a ping-pong ball. Marie can use Aegis Reflector up to four times in a fight, but if she gets into two different fights in quick succession, she will start the second fight with all four uses of Aegis Reflector available.
-Ryu's Power of Nothingness. Marie will be able to notice any supernatural influence on her mind and suppress it, along with gaining control over her ordinary base impulses. Suppressing influences and self-control will both require conscious effort on Marie's part, but it will get easier for her the more she does it. The Power of Nothingness also gives Marie superhuman control over her body, allowing her to perform otherwise impossible feats of dexterity (including doing ordinary motions with superhuman consistency) and to use the exact amount of force she wants in an attack that involves punching, kicking, or anything else along those lines.
-Ryu's Shin Shoryuken technique. Three times in a fight, Marie can hit an opponent with a gut punch that leads into an uppercut strengthened with electricity, which sends the opponent flying through the air. If the first blow is blocked or dodged, Marie cannot perform the uppercut, and it still counts as a use of the Shin Shoryuken in that fight. If Marie gets into two separate fights in quick succession, she will begin the second fight with all three uses available.
-Charlie Nash's Sonic Move.
(We might want for Marie to get some sort of offensive power next chance we get, so she has other ways of fighting aside from her Skullgirls powers)
SKULLGIRLS' CHARACTER LIST AND CURRENT STATUS IN THE QUEST
So for those that don't know much of Skullgirls characters, I'm making here a short summary of each of the playable characters and their current status in the quest:
Fillia Medici and Samson: A girl whose father is the son of Lorenzo, the leader of the Medici Mafia, making her Lorenzo's granddaughter. Her father Marcus had cut ties with the medici a while before the game started. In her backstory, Marie had attacked her neighborhood, who had several members of the Medici Mafia living there, but spared them thanks to Samson, a Parasite creature that had possessed Fillia's dog. Vitale, the second in command of the Medici, was suspicious of why Marie spared them but killed every other Medici and thought they were in cahoots with her, so they had the whole Family killed. Samson managed to protect Fillia by fusing with her after her head got crushed, healing her, but she ended up losing her memories.
Status: ALIVE but not active, she should still be a normal schoolgirl as long as Marie doesn't attack her neighborhood she shouldn't be that involved in the plot...yet.
Cerebella: Star Performer of the Circus Cirques de Cartes. She is part of the Medici Mafia but isn't aware how bad they are of the atrocities they have committed. They saved and raised her when she was an orphan because of a war that happened a few years back before the story started. She has tinted glassed when it comes to anything medici related.
Status: ALIVE and part of the Medici Mafia. Saw Marie attack the Medici Tower and kill Lorenzo.
Peacock (Patricia): Childhood Friend of Marie, they lived together in the same orphanage before they were captured by slavers. While Marie was able to escape and eventually become the skullgirl, Peacock was tortured and mutilated by the slavers. Luckily she was rescued by the labs. A group created with the one goal of developing weapons to deal with the Skullgirl. She was saved and rebuilt as a Anti-Skullgirls-Weapon.
Status: ALIVE, has found out Marie is in New Meridian and the Skullgirl. Still receiving her modifications.
Parasoul: Crown Princess of the Canopy Kingdom, her Mother was the previous Skullgirl, one who required 3 whole armies to take down, and knows firsthand how terrifying Skullgirls can be. She commands a military squadron called the Black Egrets and is fully committed to slay the next Skullgirl.
Status: ALIVE and once she finds out that Marie is a Skullgirl and is in New Meridian she is going to come straight towards her with a whole army trailing behind.
Ms Fortune: She is a member of the Fishbone Gang, a group of Thieves. In canon, After Marie failed her first attack against the Medici's Ms. Fortune and her Gang decided to steal from them, managing to steal Lorenzo's Life Gem, which grants immortality to the user. None of them know about the Gem's abilities. Desperate to get it back, Lorenzo sicked his enforcer and top assassin Black Dahlia on them. As expected, Black Dahlia slaughtered all of them, but not before Ms. Fortune swallowed the Gem. This caused that once Black Dahlia killed her, the Gem became part of her body, giving her essentially immortality, regenerating her body and curing all wounds.
Status: ALIVE and still part of the Fishbone Gang, they might still try to steal that Gem and we ought to beat to the punch so Marie can get that Gem for herself.
Painwheel: Originally Carol, she was a friend of Fillia before the latter lost her memory. Carol ended up getting kidnapped by Valentine and being sent to the labs, where she was experimented and made an Anti-Skull-Weapon like Peacock. But contrary to Marie's friend, Carol was drove mad by the operations made to her and is mind controlled by Brain Drain, one of the most evil mad scientist in the setting.
Status: ALIVE and once Brain Drain becomes aware of Marie, he is definitely going to send Painwhell to kill her.
Valentine: Member of Last Hope, a team from the Anti Skullgirls Lab Zero. In the original story, Valentine and her team battled against Marie, and she killed all of the except Valentine, forcing her to become her minion and do her bidding, while secretly researching more about the skullheart and planning to eventually betray Marie and Double.
Status: ALIVE and while her team are imprisioned on the time out box for being Naughty. Helped marie infiltrate the place. Set things up so Vitale and Cerebella were able to see Marie and provoked more Problems with Marie. She has been sent back to the Time Out Boss.
Double: Sentient shapeshifting monstrous blob created by the Trinity, a group of beings that created the Skullheart and want to kill all living humans in the world. Double works as their agent, always being near a Skullgirl to "advise" her.
Status: ALIVE (Unfortunately) And unreliable ally. She annoyed that Marie hasn't killed anyone yet and that she spent hours wandering around town lost. She will be looking for Marie Personally
Squigly and Leviathan: Sienna Contello belonged to a family of a long line of Opera Singers. 14 years before the events of the game, during her Mother's Birthday, the party was raided by the Medici's, who has received a tip that the family has come into possession of the Skullheart, so they set out to kill everyone present, including Squigly. Distraught by the dead of her relatives, her mother Selene used the Skullheart to revive them and it obeyed her wish...by making them her undead slaves and Selene became the new Skullgirl. Luckily Squigly was spared of becoming a mindless zombie by help of Leviathan, the family parasite, who fused to her and helps resist the Skullgirl influence. She assisted other parties into defeating her Mother and she fell to dormancy...until a new Skullgirl comes to wake her up.
Status: ALIVE, has meet Big Band and Marie at the Medici Tower. Marie gave her the Life Gem and was able to fully return to live. Helped Marie and Big Band fight Black Dahlia. She and Mare are now friends! She is accompanying them to the Labs.
Benjamin "Ben" Birdland/ Big Band: One of the few honest cops in New Meridian, once he started sniffing around Medici's business, shi squad took the task to deal with him once and for all. After a grousome beating, he ended up paralyzed and confined to an iron lung. Approached by the Ant Skullgirls Labs, they promised to help Big Band in exchange of joining their ranks. Agreeing to the deal, they rebuild him with a full musical get up, and now this detective is ready to stop any skullgirl around.
Status: ALIVE. Meet Marie again in the Medici Tower. Managed to have a civil conversation. Assisted Marie in fighting Black Dahlia. He is bringing Marie to Lab 8 so she can meet Peacock.
Fukua and Shamone: One of the weirdest characters in the series. Started as a palete swap of Fillia and later as an in joke character from the creators and the community, and later obtained Canon status in Black Dahlia Story Chapter. The in-story explanation is that Fukua is a clone of Fillia made by Brain Drain, the same one that created Painwheel. He created a clone and forced the soul of dead warriors into the body. The result was a mix of a proud warrior expert in close combat and a veteran assassin that excels at ranged weaponry. If we take straight what happened on Dahlia's story mode, the only reason she made an appearance was because Aeon, one of the trinity, that created the Skullheart and gives orders to Double, transported them to where the story was happening, to give a warning of the impeding apocalypse Black Dahlia was causing...
Status: UNKNOWN it's nit likely Fukua should make a normal appeareance in the story, unless either things are goign completley of the rails in a bad direction...or Aeon brings them here for some reason. It can go either way if they become an enemy or ally of Marie.
Eliza: Songtress and Diva from Bastet's Den, Eliza is in fact one of the oldest characters in the series. She has bonded with the parasite Sekhmet, a blood hungry parasite. She uses charity blood drives to keep her parasite and herself satisfied. The medici's know about her activities and use this as blackmail to force her to help them look for Ms. Fortune and the Life Gem she stole. Eliza is one of the most dangerous characters in the story, she had originally killed the Trinity thousands of years ago and is technically responsible of the appeareance of the Skullheart in the world. She is bascially this world's version of a vampire with blood manipulation being her schitck and is quite deadly.
Status: ALIVE and content to remain in the sidelines unless forced to or spurned by the Medicis, still, having Marie meet her might end in trouble.
Beowulf: Famous champion of the Ring, Beowulf was a famous figure during the war time, having defeated one of the most famous Gigans Warriors, Grendel. Thought nowadays, he has lost most of his glory, having participated in a not successful acting career. With the arise of the Skullgirl happening, Beowulf sees this as a chance to recover his fame and status while also proving himelf a hero. He os the most normal character of the series, ...relatively. He fights with only a chair (A true man's weapon), and the dead and reanimated fist of his rival Grendel. Usually a cool guy but also a muscle head.
Status: ALIVE and might or not come after Marie once word that he Skullgirl is around starts spreading. If possible we should find a way for him to sign an autograph for Marie, who is a wrestler fan.
Robo-Fortune: Created by Drain Brain thanks to the Data Valentine was able to collect about Ms. Fortune, she was builkt with the intention of being a loyal and cunning murder android...but her programming ended up being all faulty in all areas and leaves much to be desired. Started as a gag dub from Ms. Fortune' voice actor, but gained enough memetic relevance between the staff and the community that they decided to make her canon. Even of her programming is bugged, she is still a fearsome fighting machine, in her story mode ending, she unleashes the robot Apocalypse upon the world, going full Skynet.
Status: NOT BUILT YET, for her to appear, Brain Drain needs Data of Ms. Fortune with the Life Gem, and hopefully we can snatch that before it happens. Time shenanigans would need to happen for her to appear.
Annie and Sagan: Titular character of the kids' show "Annie, girl of the Stars",a show that has been run for decades, whose main character has been played by several actresses across the years...or so we are made to believe. In fact, Annie has been played by the same person since the show began. Annie is a real character and all the episodes on TV are real narrating her actual adventures. She is a girl who achieved inmortality a long time ago thanks to her mother, who wished for her to have eternal youth, becoming the skullgirl in the process. Since then, Annie has fought to stop the Skullheart ambitions and the Skullgirls rampages whenever they happen.
Status: ALIVE, and too, once she learns the skullgirl is active again, will come to chase Marie. Won't be in the mood to talk things out.
Umbrella: Young princess of the Canopy Kingdom and the little sister of Parasoul, she has been sheltered most of her time, with her best friedn being Hungern, a parasite with almost infinite appetite. She hates to be coddled and wants to prove herslef to her sister Parasoul, seeing the skullgirl appearing things gives her the chance to show how capable she is. Her mother was the previous Skullgirl before Marie and wrecked havoc across the world, needing 3 whole armies to defeat her. One thing to take into account was that her mother was pregnant with Umbrella when she was in the process to become a Skullgirl and this has affected her. It's stated that if she were to become a Skullgirl herself, she will become the strongest one up to date, and considering her mother almost destroyed HALF THE WORLD, that's worrisome.
Status: ALIVE, might or not be in New Meridian with her sister, which might be troubling, she will be drawn to the Skullheart, cause of her connection with her mother, possible candidate for Double to replace Marie with if she becomes to troublesome to handle.
Black Dahlia: Dahlia was mortally wounded by a previous iteration of the Skullheart decades ago, she was saved thanks to the Anti Skull Heart Labs, who rebuilt her body with cybernetics similar to Big Band. Unfortunately, Black Dahlia didn't take well to this changes, could be either because of the near dead experience or the cybernetics messing with her mind, but she became more bloodthirsty and sadistic, wanting to fight and inflict pain to others. She betrayed the labs, and offered her services as a hired gun...eventually leading to been hired by the Medicis, becming their top enforcer and assassin. Thought lately Lorenzo has kept her on a leash and is waiting for the next chance to cut loose, the Skullheart and the robbery of the Life Gem gives her the chance she is looking for.
Black Dahlia is one of the most dangerous characters in the setting, having managed to kill most of the cast, thought preparation and cunning, but still a noteworthy feat. More worringly, she is the only character in the setting to be able to make a wish on the skullheart and not becoming a Skullgirl, being "Pure"..which, doesn't end well for anyone in the cast, nor the world.
STATUS: Alive. Meet Marie, Big Band and Squigly and Leviathan at the Medici Tower. Fought them and ended reciving a Shin Shoryuken , courtesy from Marie. Forced to retreat but will continue to hunt Marie.
Still missing more characters, will add them later when I have time.
Hope this helps for those that don't know much about the setting!
