Unexpected Glory (A CK2-style Quest)

With the bonuses, we literally have like a few things already at half the DC, I hope the dice will be good. Also, @StormyAngel Are you rolling dice on SV, Rolz, or Discord?

[X] Plan Handling Issues & Basics
When you suck at naming things...
You could always give it a nonsense name that only relates to one part of the plan, like {} Money for Both!

@StormyAngel where did the orcs come from? They have a home base somewhere?

Also, @StormyAngel Are you rolling dice on SV, Rolz, or Discord?

Absolutely not on SV. My least favorite part of participating in a quest is watching the QM roll a 1 and living in existential horror until the update comes out.

But otherwise I haven't completely decided yet. Between Rolz and Discord which one has the better roller?

You don't know, but the assumption is that they snuck past the border on the Bloodplains. It's been a 2 year stalemate at the current border, so it wouldn't be the first time orcs got this far.

It varies. It truly does, with @Daemon Hunter's The Lost Primarch Quest I've witnessed every side pull-out absolute failure of rolls. I can invite you to a discord and a Rolz room and let you roll to see how both go or you can do it on your own, whichever you prefer.

Well let's hope the dice are fair for us then. Maybe Plausitivity can help with that, they are a pair of dice after all. :p

And I'll check them out on my own sometime. Thanks for the offer though.

You're welcome, also, please let us. Poor dice shall be the death of us.

I don't think you need to worry too much. I mainly want to use a web roller so that I don't have to feel guilty for what happens, but that doesn't mean I want you all to fail. They're supposed to simulate an element of chance, not the determined opposition of the gods. If it becomes an issue, I'll correct for it in other ways.

Alternatively, the dice could love you guys. In which case I will gleefully pull out my bag of tricks. The one I'm secretly hoping I get to use.

I'm hoping we get Sage dice/Jaunedice. Whichever one, because those have been sorely lacking.

Well that's racist.
*rolls on the ground*
Oops forgot the other one.

Oh look, Snake Eyes!
Oh, you were actually rolling them. Dang, I thought it was just a funny quip.

I don't actually understand those references. Sage dice I've seen used to refer to ridiculously lucky rolls, but jaundice I've never seen before.

Watch as SV dooms us all

See, rolls d100 and gets 6 first try.
It's called Confirmation bias, and also the result of a pseudorandom number generator.
Human minds are simply not able to understand randomness, thus labeling things they find weird or stupid as "random".
Plausbius threw 1 100-faced dice. Reason: Observe my big luck energy Total: 86
86 86

Sage Dice references multiply quests by sage where he rolls dice for the options chosen and the players manage to get some of the best dice rolls possible, alongside him using exploding criticals so it goes even further. Jaunedice are the same thing applied to RWBY Ck2 Questsusing Jaune aka LotA and such.
Altered threw 5 100-faced dice. Reason: Screw Your Big Luck Energy! Total: 309
80 80 48 48 51 51 82 82 48 48

Don't you science at me! I was science-ing before you were ever rolled, young man.

Oh, so it is a RWBY reference. Cool. Let's hope for that then. As the QM with lots of nasty things I hope I get to use on you all, I really hope that happens.

So if the dice love us, and give us good numbers you throw bad stuff at us? You monster.

Also, will your system be utilizing exploding criticals or any such version of it where if the number post-roll and added modifiers reach 100 or over you'll roll another d100 and such?

I have plans for varying degrees of success depending on just exactly how high over the DC you guys get. A natural 99 or 100 are automatic criticals that I then roll another 1d100 and add to your total, increasing your progression along the success chain. And if other factors apply (such as Zenthalas/magical participation, or the application of a radical cookie) then the success will be further magnified.

By the same token a 1 and 2 are critical fails, so let's hope that never happens.

By the way, Radical Cookie owners, I updated the mechanics on that in the information Quest Mechanics section earlier. You may want to double check it.

Alright sounds like a plan, thank you for sharing the information. Much appreciated.

@StormyAngel Append this to [] Plan Handling Issues & Basics:
"Ballad of the Bard"
*play guitar slowly, acoustically*

Oh,
From silken threads of fate,
An epic
Tale is spun,
With each weave
Your breath abates,
From how the day was won!

*faster guitar strumming*

T'was a fateful night,
The Emperor:
Am-bushed by Orcs!

Savage beasts!
From the East!
They knew
On-ly brute force!

Their eyes burned with fury,
Arms--the size of trees!
Hefting axes made from bone,
Many men would fleeee!

Shocked with awe and anger,
I made a choice--in a flash!
While others ran and fled in terror,
Towards the Emperor I did daaaash!

*strums extremely quickly. How is this even humanly possible?*

He fought bravely,
Held off threeee...
On one!
Two had fallen at his feet,
The third was allllmost undoooone!

But tired of the fight, was he,
And weary of his loss,
An opening, the beast did just see,
Axe swung for its vile caaaauuuuse!

*what are those hand movements? Those hips! Those legs!?!*

Jumped betwixt
The Crown and Brute,
I had but a...
Single thought:

Save the man!
Thwart their plan!
Stop them at all coooost!

*strum in between each line*

Guitar went up

Axe came down

The moment of truth was near...

Would I hold?
Or be struck down?

...

(spoken) "Well, evidently, I'm here!"

*quickly plucks*

Deflection!
Reflection!
See my face in the blade!

Joined
By
Royal sword,
We put that animal to the flame!

*crescendo*
*slow strums*

So goes the tale
Of one who sang
His way into
Many hearts,
Who rose above his lowly place,
And now shall play his paaaart...

(Spoken) "Truly, I hope this is a good start."

And the crowd goes wild :V
I imagined more of a rock/metal style epic song, but fitted it more to the setting. Praise my restraint!

Plausitivity, you are a treasure. Have a cookie: +10 Radicalness.

Adding her to another project uses this action dice (because it requires one to do this) as a boost to that roll. Instead of rolling them separately I will directly add the numbers, meaning you could easily end up with over 200.

...and now I need to go run and edit in a limit to how many times you can do this. Specifically because Zenthalas cannot actually be everywhere at once.

May I recommend doing something like limiting the bonus to 1/2 of the roll? Because directly adding to it is a big boost.

Yeah, I think half the bonus could be good. The action economy is still the largest constraint, so using two actions to almost guarantee an action sounds like a good tradeoff, whether the bonus is big or not.

I'd recommend 0.75 of Zenthalas's stat, though. She's magic after all.
