Under the Open Sky (CWMGQ Spinoff)

Steel Monsoon is running about fifty times damage per hit. Her spell will oneshot Starlancer and Castor fairly trivially. The issues are Pollux and Flawless Paladin. Pollux because he's spell immune and can give that to Castor if he's fast enough, Flawless because she's an undercover dark magical girl who's just flat out immune to Steel Monsoon's spell.

So basically the question here is do we think we can run interference long enough for Monsoon to replace all their internals with bullets?
Seriously, on a modifier roll of 0 her spell does in excess of 700 thousand damage. On a maxed roll she's past a million. Flat-out immunities are the only reason she can't kill everything here.

Traitorous pathetic ratfink bitch. Working with the Demons when there are impressed and raped magical girls is lowest of the low and will get you nothing and nowhere.

That system can't change it's very nature is rotten. Unless you some kinda Divinity with the most relevant affinities and a couple of decades of power ramp to be immortal god queen.

@kelllogo Summit only knows about MK's Prince of Sky form, right?

Edit: also are we actually leading with a Wave Force or is that just flavor text?

Rough outline of a battle plan:
  • Cast Guardian Touch on Steel Monsoon and have her take out Starlancer with her spell as soon as she arrives.
  • Do the same to Castor ASAP, but prioritize taking down Starlancer before she can get her buff-removal spell off.
  • Run interference on Starlancer and Castor to make sure they don't take her out before she can down them.
  • Flawless Paladin and Monster Keeper are to double-team Pollux.
The biggest issue here is that Steel Monsoon is kinda... fragile, and if Starlancer manages to get rid of her Overkill stacks she becomes more a liability than anything. As long as they don't take her out the instant she arrives though, she's a major asset and our best at ending this quickly.

Flawless can't actually do shit to Pollux, but she can facetank and run interference nearly as well as we can, and Monster Keeper should be able to pick up the slack in the damage department. (Prince of Land would probably be the best choice, but anything not Prince of Sky is a decent choice.)

Any plan that relies on "enemy not doing x" is a bad plan, doubly so when said enemy repeatedly does x to us when we have the same trick.

If we keep in her face until Steel Monsoon can hit her, that should work. I think she realizes that we're getting stacks of something, so she might not immediately switch to Steel Monsoon.

That's the idea, yeah. We just need Starlancer to not instantly de-buff Steel Monsoon, then she can paste her.
But whatever we do, we need to capitalize on SM's current insane damage output, because it won't be available long if we don't.

If she had intel on Anna, we must assume she also has intel on everyone else notable nearby. She knew to purge us when she showed up and keep us purged. The failure states are too high to assume she wouldn't just purge SM as soon as she shows up. And even without having intel, given the # of girls who have some kind of buildup mechanic that would just be SOP, since she now has two allies in the fight and doesn't need to do everything herself anyway.

Okay, so what alternative do you propose?

The front page hasn't been updated with our new EXP total yet. Also, did that battle trigger the shop reveal condition for Quell?
The unlock for Quell is to get Flawless Interruption to activate and then practice with your abilities. Think Solid Core and Starshine.

Come to think of it I think there's a system tradition to give out abilities for doing/surviving crazy stuff...

Summit only knows about the huge dragon.

In this case Starlancer is kinda sticking her neck out, banking that she can hit and kill Summit before Summit finishes casting Wave Force. So, yes, barring a clarification in planning it starts with Summit tanking another blow and Starlancer getting nuked.

Problem is, nothing we do can stop SM from showing up. If we run, there's nothing stopping Starlancer from hitting SM with Twilight. And if SM gets purged, I'd rather it be as part of something to reduce Starlancer into a fine ash that she can't be resurrected from.
I suggest we get another level of Versatility of Form and equip Laser, which lets us trade actions for additional damage on the same attack. (What exactly is the math for Laser, anyway?) I'm not going to recommend trying to signal to our allies anything, because Starlancer has Signal Processing and it's hailing out, so visual, radio, and shouting will only alert Starlancer to our backup. Unless Summit happens to have Coroner's Heavy Particle Projectors we can't actually signal them.

And leave everyone else behind? Unacceptable.

Everyone still here is either already dead or bugged out/about to be dead. Everyone else on the way in should realize that we teleported/ran away when we do so, else how would they have known that we were here in the first place?

You could pick the long range teleport option to reach them and tell them to GTFO.

Yes, Nepgear got The Insurmountable Gap for oneshotting Judgement Core in their sparing match, against QM expectations.
Unstoppable Blow has been added to to character sheet. Along with a couple of Ability Ladders.

She knew to purge us when she showed up and keep us purged
Her purge spell is a rather thorough dispell and a way to empower herself at the same time. She figured out Ceaseless Warrior's effect on the fly and had noticed some rather large discrepancies between her intel and what Summit can do.

Summit expects Starlancer is going to throw Twilight around to remove buffs. If you were to apply an obvious buff she would probably prioritize de-buffing that person...

Unstoppable Blow
-If basic attack is negated, and Intercept is a Panoply Ability, you may force an Intercept.
So basically, if any enemy uses a Skilled variant against us, this lets us choose to treat it as if they instead used Intercept? That's pretty cool.
Shedding Blood
Panoply lvl 20: Emulate Blood 40xp
Panoply lvl 25: Rend 50xp
Panoply lvl 30: Mark 60xp
Panoply lvl 35: Vampire 70xp
Panoply lvl 40: Curse 80xp
Rising Flames
Panoply lvl 20: Emulate Fire 40xp
Panoply lvl 25: Burn 50xp
Panoply lvl 30: Flare Arrow 60xp
Panoply lvl 35: Armor Pierce 70xp
Panoply lvl 40: Shred 80xp
Pillar of Industry
Panoply lvl 15: [Manufacture 30xp
Panoply lvl 20: Thick Armor 40xp

Panoply lvl 25: Heavy Caliber 50xp
Panoply lvl 30: Adamantine 60xp
Panoply lvl 35: Instant Manufacture 70xp
Panoply lvl 40: Juggernaut 80xp
Interesting trees, although we need a lot of Panoply levels to get really nice stuff. The level 40 additions to other trees are also quite nice.

Do the "Emulate X" things mean gaining the ability to use spells of that affinity?

Twilight isn't AoE, right? She can only target one person?

So if we buffed someone else she would burn her only spell of the turn on the wrong target...

Welp, money where my mouth is.

[X] Drop the Halting effect and teleport to somewhere safer!
-[X] Teleport out to your incoming allies, share information on who you've just fought and general sitrep. Try to locate and pick up Shah and then vacate the area and report back for a new assignment.
