Tome of the Orange Sky (Naruto/MGLN)

Wonderful new chapter, thank you or the Update.

My Mind... Its Blown. Uhhhrgh.... well... This happened... Again.

Orochi is having Tsunade's Drinken bender Baby.

I Congratulate you for thoroughly pounding my Neural Pathways into submission. Again. Now Pardon me for exiting stage right, But I'm going to go recover my Normalcy by drowning myself in less Eldritch forms of entertainment. Back to Playing Elden Ring and Fate:GO. (to be clear this is not an insult, but a compliment on just how little I saw any of this coming that I feel the need to recover.)

I gotta admit, you suckered me pretty thoroughly.

First I thought the kid somehow had Original Orochimaru as a biological father and Current Orochimaru as a mother, then when you had Jiraiya feel haunted I thought he was the father, but no, I was blindsided by the actual result.

Smooth twist.
I had fun setting up expectations and insinuations. :V

Jiraiya was haunted because of the impending knee-jerk reaction from Tsunade that he had to be involved despite not actually being at fault, BTW. :p

Subverting all the expectations in a believable way is fun!
Uhm, I guess I was wrong... That is one truly farked up family.
I felt that you were rather quick to dismiss things.

Considering the people involved, I felt it was a fairly safe guess that "pregnant" was probably not the issue. And Tsunade being the other parent wasn't anywhere on the same continent for guesses if that was the case.

I want to point out that, since Mitochondria follow the female line, and assuming Tsunade came from Mito's daughter (I don't know if this is true), then she would have UZUMAKI mitochondria. If she instead comes from Mito's son, whe could have any mitochondria in the world.

... I'm guessing Orochi is both the father and the surrogate mother because Tsunade couldn't be bothered to deal with being pregnant...
I mean, it doesn't really matter which womb you make the kid in, does it? The only difference between "mother" and "father" is who contributes mitochondria in this case, after all.

All I can think is "The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell" and I never even heard that song. The phrase is just that memetic.

Well, that and who has to deal with the next year or so of pregnancy and after effects. (According to my sister, mother of two, it takes a while after the birth for everything to be back in normal working order so to speak...)

For a moment, I thought Orochimaru was going to be both father and mother. There's a short Ranma 1/2 fic where they find Ranma, years later, living with the Joketsuzoku, with a lot of children, because mixing springs mixes the results. Ranma wound up with one testicle and one ovary, getting herself pregnant as soon as her body would support another child after the last was born. Bring pregnant was high on my list of suspected causes for her issues, here, so half an internet cookie for me. I just need to go bake some.

Epigenetics would apply. In this case, some genes are active in the child if they come from the father but inactive from the mother, or vice versa. It's one of the complications that make actually understanding genetics more difficult.

Given all three of the Senju were involved in the discussion, I have to suspect there's a "No experimentation!" contract drawn up and sealed by all three and being held by one or more of their contracted Summonses.

Soo i got an idé for an omake/side story where the battariens from mass effect shows up se primitives ripe for enslaving then the island emergency went cracks the mone batariens consider this a experimental weapons test fier/ warning shot nops the fuck out not wanting to deal whit that some body competent villing to givit a crack writing a omake allong thos lines?

All I got out of that was something something Batarians, something something getting their asses kicked, something something fuck this shit we're out

I'd argue that battariens are culturally incapable of recognizing when to back off. After all, canonically humanity kicked their teeth in multiple times, and the reaction of Battariens was not "too dangerous, avoid them!" It was instead to attach rocket engines to a planet killer asteroid with the intention of sending it to kill all life on Earth.

Pretty sure it was like Terra Nova or something

And they didn't even attach the rocket engines themselves. It was meant to be a new orbital port for Terra Nova; the engines were to move the asteroid into orbit around the planet.

Well, if you're talking about the asteroid I think you're talking about, then it's lucky that asteroid got weaponized since if Shephard hadn't managed to use it to destroy that Relay, the Reapers would've come through much earlier, instead of needing to come the slow way from dark space.
