Tome of the Orange Sky (Naruto/MGLN)

*snrk*I think you mean Kiba. That said I did think about an idea of a couple of Naruto characters getting summoning contracts with Yugioh archetypes
Parody all those crappy edgefics that for-want-of-a-nail a bunch of things which in no way follow logically and in-name-only their characters into carbon copies of people from other franchises. Write something where the premise is supposedly that Akamaru died, and Kiba reacts by turning into an expie and gets the Blue Eyes to replace the dog. Just go full tongue-in-cheek ridiculous. :p

I get a chuckle thinking of what Anko's reaction will be when two graduating students are ideal for infiltration work, and one of them is the Hyuga princess.

I think the bigger problem will be when Kurenai discovers that one of them is the Hyuga princess. She mentioned wanting one of the Hyuga's and Hinata was on her canon team. Though, if they are a year ahead, it's possible she doesn't know that they are going to graduate early so she might be talking about someone else.

But if she's not, we get the angst of Kurenai not getting the student that she wanted... because she convinced Anko to apply.

She might end up with Sasuke, actually. Kakashi became his sensei in large part due to him being the only other person in Konoha with a Sharingan (excluding Danzo's Sharing-arm). This timeline, Sasuke still has his brother to teach him the ins-and-outs of their dojutsu, and it'll likely be far more effective that way. Given how well genjutsu and the Sharingan mix, Sasuke's a good candidate for learning under Kurenai.

What a interesting idea. The Hyuga's doujutsu has so many possible uses. Long range snipers, healers the list is long.

This is an example of why I consider the Hyuga clan to be run by idiots, they have a doujutsu that would make them the world's best snipers and choose to focus exclusively on essentially melee acupressure as their primary and sole fighting style.

How about a plot line where the restrictions on the Hyuga's doujutsu was scheme to prevent the Hyugas from getting too powerful.

I do hope there is a planned point to end the Paperwork Jutsu prank, now that he knows Naruto knows it. While funny from an outside point of view, it is a bit cruel to run it as a long-term prank, unless there are other narrative reasons to not give it to him.

Perhaps as a birthday gift?

Anko is fun. Hopefully by the time her application processes, Naruto will be able to remove that seal. Probably with some fun commentary on the amateur who designed it...

Oh my, then Sasuke is gonna be stuck with Sakura and someone else, possibly Kaiba. Wonder if the instructors in her and Ino's new class managed to beat the Fangirl out of them?

It was mentioned in chapter 3, I think, that Itachi had arranged for the worst of Sasuke's fangirls to put into different classes from him, which would probably include Sakura as she and Ino were by far the worst of those shown in the show.

I'm looking forward to if Naruto can acquire additional 'bloodlines.'

I don't know if it's canon or not, but I thought that the Hyuga had passive almost 360-degree vision, and active local omniscience. Neither of these suggest sniper to me.

As far as I understand it, they still carry and use kunai, for sticking through gaps in armor, or for throwing into your eye in the middle of a brawl.

One suggestion is that they combine local omniscience with what may be combat teleportation as a fighting style; it could be that you can't telefrag someone, or perhaps just not someone with chakra, and actually moving means you go too slow, thus pinpoint strikes with effectively projected weapons.

Edit: I'm also reasonably sure you can't get a muscle powered projectile fast enough that, at sniper ranges, a ninja couldn't dodge the intent before the projectile arrives; perhaps with a modern sniper rifle?

Do chakra blades do damage outside the physical blade, or do you actually need to hit the other guy with the blade itself before anything happens?

The all around vision is only when their eyes are active. And it's actually about 359 degree vision, they have a blind spot directly above their own first thoracic vertebrae for some reason never expanded upon.

I personally assume that's one of the chakra gates and the concentration of chakra blocks their vision.

Personally I think he's saving it as a bribe to escape a Tora mission

I'm guessing the Uzumaki knowing and having special uses of the Shadow Clone jutsu is an AU element in this? I thought that the 2nd Hokage was the one who invented it?

Now that sounds like great omake or apocrypha fodder.

Ehhn, that would be a bit too much. If Jariya, a noted seal expert who taught Minato couldn't do more than contain it, I doubt it would be something Naruto could just peel off and call Orochimaru a hack about as a Genin. It would come off as way too far into Sue territory. I could see it being something that once Naruto sees, he might make it a project to work on, and eventually figure something out after he hits Jounin.

while yes they do have 360 degree vision with their Eyes active, their Vision goes to 10km out(part two Hinata sees that far) and they have hilariously fine accuracy
Hinata is noted for having exceptional long ranged capabilities and precision with the Byakugan though. I would highly doubt that her would be indicative of a common Hyuuga.

They can also see through objects to spot their target.

To be fair we don't actually know how much variation there is between individual Byakugan users only that Neji being able to see chakra points is exceptionally rare, it is possible that the blind spot is a tradeoff for that specific to Neji.
As far as range, it would be likely that the low end is at least a mile or two with focus which is plenty for them to shoot an arrow or launch a long range jutsu and shunshin to a new location before the enemy can retaliate.
Hell in this story Naruto could do the same but instead shunshin he just makes a shit ton of clones and fires from all directions while adding various effects to the arrows with seals.

I got the impression from other stories that the hokage never thought of using shadow clones to help with paperwork, and so I assumed that in this story, he knows it, but the prank is calling it the paperwork jutsu.

That assumes that people know precisely what it is that the Uzumaki call the Paperwork Jutsu. If all they know is that the Uzumaki had a jutsu that made paperwork take nearly no time at all, they may assume it's something other than Mass Shadow Clones.

Just as hammers make you see everything as a nail, so too do nails make you assume you need a hammer.
