Really, any of the clan heads could do it.

Although... how good a Hokage do you think Might Guy would be?

Yeah, I don't think he'd make a good Hokage either. It's usually any S-class ninja in the village who wants the job, and the problem is that there aren't really any S-class ninja who qualify. Shikaku is definitely the most qualified, but there's a reason the Hokage didn't just stay retired when Minato died.

So precluding any shinies and whatnot next update, I'm guessing we'll sweep up the remaining Scrolls the next 1-to-3 updates? I'm fine with it, since that means more Jutsus for experimenting with created techniques. If early Naruto can manage Jutsu invention, no reason Rin shouldn't try as well.

I'd like to get some water jutsu and sealing in next round. (make sure the we can do to the masked man what mom could do to him)

Yeah, not to mention you will need Shape Manipulation, which is different from shaping Prana (Chakra has different properties), so it won't be nearly as easy for Rin as Chakra Nature Manipulation.

Housenka Tsumabeni also needs Shape Manipulation iirc, so Itachi may get us started a bit on that while we train Housenka Tsumabeni.
