This...is a Quest (OR..."Come Sail Away: A Council/Riot Hybrid Quest Where You're Trying to Build a Ship")

Voting is open
First element of updating for Round 16 is complete, where I've implemented the first version of the [Cooperation] vote rules.

I've also updated the Passphrase rules, though I will still be accepting the original passphrase for the remainder of this particular vote (so if you've already got a 'correct' password it's not necessary to change it to be in compliance with the new password rules this round).

-[X] Rather than banning the use of corpses for fear of people creating characters for the sole purpose of killing them off for their corpses, might I suggest that you directly ban the practice that you don't want happening instead?

Dead Rioter Bodies (v2)
Following the overwhelming vote result, the system for dealing with Dead Rioter Bodies will change to a simpler, more straightforward system that just sidesteps the matter of what's left behind entirely.

In short, in the hopefully rare circumstance where a Rioter dies, for all intents and purposes nothing will be left behind to do anything with. The exact specifics of the situation will vary depending on the nature of death, so for sake of narrative a body may be temporarily left behind, but not long enough to actually do anything with. If nothing else, circumstances will dictate that the body will somehow be dealt with automatically and all that will be left behind is an ambiguous, undefined 'marker' that will mostly just serve to confirm 'here's where this person died'.

Realistically speaking, I'm not going to be able to do much in the way of guaranteeing players have a say in how their bodies may cease to exist, since it's not going to be practical to either inform someone ahead of time that 'looks like you died this Round' and wait for that player to give me something to work with or otherwise always try to write around details.

That said, there's nothing stopping anyone from writing up side bits any time you want to. If you want to try doing your own writeup going more into detail about 'here's how my character died, here's what happened to the body', you're absolutely free to do so. thatguy99998 already did something similar with the "Meet the Farmer" bit (which as of this post is the first and only post to warrant an 'Apocrypha' tag thus far) even if it doesn't technically involve anyone dying.

No promises that what you write up might be accepted as 'here's what actually happened' or might earn an Apocrypha tag, but if you want to have fun writing something up to give an old character a sendoff, feel free to go wild and have some fun.

Round 17 Start - "...Every joke you say..."
By all appearances, the quest may actually be stabilizing. Making genuine progress, even.

That isn't to say you don't have to content with problems. Oh, you certainly have problems to deal with. But between the increasing amount of equipment you have to work with, the dedication to ensuring there is a steady stream of food, and having projects and goals to actually work towards rather than just stumbling around until you hopefully bump into some progress, at the very least it feels like the quest is advancing towards something.

At the very least, it doesn't feel like the quest is in danger of immediately falling over dead.

Assuming you're not forgetting anything important.

You're not forgetting anything important, right?

Nah, it's probably just me.

Right?

[X][Eat] One Ponata

[X][Riot!] Gather Resources
-[X] Medicinal plants from the Southern Swamp, with the bone scalpel for if cutting becomes necessary.

One more turn before I can start treating people! If I'm smart enough to actually identify good plants at least.

Edit: Oh, forgot the cooperation! This seems like a good idea for now?

[X][Cooperation] Gather wood for the construction of the Long house.

[X][Cooperation] Gather wood for the construction of the Long house.

Might be a good idea for someone to head down to bug town and see if any of their trinkets are made out of easy to work metals like tin, bronze or aluminum. Granted we don't really need good metal tools yet but moving up the tech tree can't hurt. Or we could always keep working on the longhouse, finishing something could be neat.

Leave this to me. I'm the guy with the bonus to axe usage, and I was planning on doing it anyway.

mostly focused on farming, as usual, because i don't see anything that desperately needs my attention.
Next turn I am considering fucking off to be around the people who my views align with checking the plains themselves for barley or another crop that is actually reasonable to grow.

Which brings up a question. How long is a turn? Am I wasting a massive amount of effort only for them to sprout three threads later? Or is it a day per turn and I should be seeing my precious seedlings sprout soon?

I dont know.

I dont really care.

I just want to farm.

1 rioter posts they are working on it. Their one post's worth of work will build a coop. The coop can protect 3 chickens from being eaten by predators and is comfortable enough for the chickens to lay eggs.
...I'm afraid that won't be possible. Or do you regularly build chicken coops (even small ones) from a pile of lumber in a matter of hours, with no assistance?

No, I expect the most one action to be capable of managing is building a single nest. Not even a single-occupant coop, but just the nest itself. (But what do I know, I'm only playing the game...)

[X][Riot!] Address Problem
-[X] 160 Slabs of raw Dirtworm Meat at risk of going bad
--[X] Reasoning that the equipment needed for smoking all that Dirtworm meat falls under the category of being a tool, construct a setup for easily cooking the meat using whatever materials are available.

[X][Eat] A Piece of cooked Dirtworm meat

This is why the Council exists. We exist to browbeat Reality into conforming into what we say Reality is, not what Reality thinks Reality is

Historically, that has worked out very poorly for the Council, who it has turned out are not capable of browbeating Reality into doing anything it wasn't already planning on permitting.
